"The fuse is lit. You can run all you want to but you leave a trail of gunpowder in your wake. There's going to be a reckoning eventually."
~Colleen Houck
Whoa! No words to express how BRILLIANT this Crooner is, hun!! The TRUTH always trumps and how!! Today, the White Queen lived up to her name! Will update in a bit!
Hope you are feeling better, sweetie!🤗

Carpe Diem, sweets! You seized every bit of the epi today in such a concise, succinct take, hun! What a FANTASTIC read!!👏👏 The Endgame. That finally play in chess. And in this case, a gambit by Khushi and Arnav unlike any other! To say that this was an epi I have been waiting for would be a gross understatement. Ever since that heart wrenching moment when Anjali lost her baby after she succumbed to Shyam's ploy, I have wanted this PH to produce a screenplay which would met justice to her and for Khushi.
I would never have imagined such a brilliantly scripted, riveting narrative for this finale, though! Khushi was strength, dignity, and a reflection for Anjali in so many ways today. She internalized every sentiment, concealed and otherwise in a manner befitting the worst covert betrayal. The White Queen and the "saarthi" who not only protected her King, but also the Black Queen. The person who never ever doubted that TRUTH will prevail...Who had thus far put aside her own pain...today, it was catharsis for her, too. As I watched, I couldn't help but think back to our references to S.W.O.T analysis, Priya, which you so fluidly described to us in your "Devil's Advocate" Crooner (Crooner 93). Every connection we had made about Strengths, Weakenesses, Opportunity and Threats; now assessed and played out! A "Fuse lit" and that "Strategy" --which you so poignantly reminded us of over the weekend, too--carried through in signature IPK fashion!
"Ek Iraada Kala Beimaan Sa"
The lights dim and it begins...a celebration...of two people and what love should have been...Every part of Shyam and Anjali's life together unraveled: that "mandir ki ek seedhi se" where it all started...A rose, a declaration of love, pati vrata Anjali finds her "everything." Glimpses of their moments together...of their shared love...the being who was to connect them forever...that "choti Rajkumari"...And in the midst of it, a juxtaposition in expressions: An unsuspecting, happy Anjali to her brother with tears brimming in his eyes. Agonized as the "Iraada" is revealed in pieces...Yes, Priya, how apropos for him--that "moving soul" showcased in some of the hardest few minutes in Arnav Singh's Raizada's life as he takes in every word and looks at his sister. "Main hamesha aapki raksha karoonga"--his blessed oath to her promising to always be there, forever. Rakhi ties, and the sacred knot on his arm harboring every bit of abhorrence for Shyam and protection for his sister. You could not have described Sobti's expressions any better: truly "a case study for growth in fluidity of expressions." 👏👏👏
The sound of the drums only herald the inevitable--a battle cry--Shankhnaad, in its own right. The connection is instant to Shyam's psychotic reality! I couldn't help think about Anjali herself as the "choti si Rajkumari hamesha ke liye chali gayi." Part of the reason we feel the CVs have had discredited this character is because Anjali has been portrayed as the Rajkumari in the Raizada household. Sheltered and completely unaware. For me, this line was not only about the little one who was lost, but about Anjali's "awakening" as well! Her self created utopic existence has now come crashing around her; the "storm" as you so rightfully put it has finally hit home!
No doubt at all as revelations astound, shock and terrify...Even as Shyam tries to leave, the final play...The clincher to seal the deal...The toys and the "voices" of that which is no more...Yes, even a psychopath can stop dead in his tracks...He denies every bit of the truth as is case with most cowards. The master of the game in his element...The Shankhnaad sounded, now the Warrior steps in...A courtroom like set-up for the perfect climax...The truth must prevail..."Lawyer speak" as Arnav Singh Raizada questions him about the pills...Lethal, steady, and not a quiver in his voice, the White King now steps it up...A stinging volley...And the defendant goes down...Quid Pro Quo and Check-Mate, Shyam Manohar Jha...! Yes, the reckoning now finally at hand!
Inevitably my thoughts went to the trust factor and Anjali's reassurances to her brother in Monday's episode. This is the moment where every bit of faith Anjali has in her brother--and in Khushi, too--will come to the forefront. This is the moment when her strength--that NAARI SHAKTI--which I've harped about should surface. I believe in these set of CVs and have some hope that through Anjali's devastation and pain, we may finally see her mourn for her baby, and all her losses...Will we finally see the "pati vrata" throw her husband out of Shantivaan, once and for all? Can we finally hope to see her character redeemed, even if its a little too late!?
Other thoughts~
~I loved the "tiered" approach to the narrative: the S.W.O.T. tactic taking shape over the last week; Arnav and Khushi's ever present, ever endearing determination to do right by Di...and NK's solid support through it all! And then the "strategy": subtle commencement, a build up, and paraphrasing InDi's words-a fitting denouement! Truly a masterstroke in how the narrative was layed out and carried out...Khushi and NK taking the reigns, and ASR stepping in at the opportune time! It played out exactly like we had envisioned even before the track appeared on the horizon, Priya!
~That dhol and the background music were so expertly integrated into the narrative...It really made the screenplay standout!! Kudos all around to the sound mixers!👏
~Yes, the editing was crisp, and seamless...LM, AK and the team really delivered right in time for TRPS!!
~GH & co: I love you and your team. Bas, keh diya😆...The dialogues are worthy of their own category for expert performance today...Amma would be doubly proud!!👏
~Everyone brought their "A" game today, but a superlative performance by NK! Karan's expressions, particularly in that dhol playing scene, were absolutely fantastic!!
~LOVED Naani--she is such a perfect judge of character! No doubt. no benefit. no nothing! The distinguished matriarch was absolutely in her place!!👏
~Welcome back, Aakash...and whattay comeback!!😲
~DB: You finally brought it!! A glimmer of the DB who is so capable of a stellar performance was seen today!
~Khushi in that sari...Gorgeous!! If only she would wear net creations everyday!!
James Dean once said: "An actor must interpret life, and in order to do so must be willing to accept all the experiences life has to offer. In fact, he must seek out more of life than life puts at his feet. "
Dean could not have defined it any better when it comes to the performers today! "Interpretation" redefined by three prolific actors. This was Aabhas' moment, and I finally felt the "actor" in him emerge after an eternity!👏 Sanaya embodied Khushi with absolute subtlety, bringing every bit of Khushi's own pathos and pain in renacting her Anjali. Every line delivered with such precision...She reminded me of my own Goddess, Audrey Hepburn, in how she appeared: poised, confident, natural and ever glowing!! And finally, the man...to be an actor "he must seek out more of life than life puts at his feet." What Sobti portrayed today is "life" itself--the unspoken trumped the spoken--can we get more "realistic", "cerebral", "definitive"? How many more adjectives do I need to describe a performance that defies anything remotely "actor" about it!??!!👏👏👏
I have much to say about the precap, but will reserve judgement until the next epi...Suffice to say, I am cautiously optimistic for the aftermath!!😃
