TV stars seem to be suffering from chronic fatigue. All major players are desperately wanting a break. Eijaz Khan is no exception. "Though my serial Kavyanjali came to an end on my birthday this week, the work load didn't really decrease. I was still shooting until late into the night. The only time we wrapped up early recently was on the eve of my birthday. We were done with Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka (the show on Star One) by 11 pm on August 29 so I could bring in my birthday with my friends. But barely. There was hardly any time to sit and chat and catch up with them. They complain that we hardly get together any more."
Like many of his colleagues Eijaz has lost contact with his friends. But now Eijaz is on a holiday. "It's my birthday gift. I had taken time off on my last birthday too. I left for Sharjah on September 1 to be with my cousin and his family. He has a three-year-old child who doesn't recognise Eijaz Uncle!"
Not that the busy TV actor is complaining. "I've waited long for this time when I could work round the clock. After an accident I was bed-ridden for almost a year. That's when I realised the value of work," he says.
At the same time Eijaz admits he has no personal life, no friends, no time for a relationship. "I need to sort out that aspect of my life. But a relationship at this point of my life is a no-no. The last thing I need is a distraction from my work." Incidentally, Eijaz got along like a house on fire with his Kavyanjali co-star Anita Hasanandani. But the same cannot be said about his Nimmo... co-star Sanjeeda. Hence no chance of mixing business with pleasure. "There never is," says Eijaz. "On the TV medium the hours of work and the stress to complete schedules is much more intense. There's no time for distractions. After working till three in the morning, all you want is to be in bed… alone."
