Firstly, a very interesting take this SS has...A&K when they are teenagers and the exchange of letters. Love the usage of words to explain the emotions and surroundings. Arnav at 14 is arrogant and proud as well as determined. I find the way he teases his sister very cute and realistic. And he just runs to hug his mother ignoring everyone...no shame in doing do😊 But why is his father not there? Family trouble?
As for Khushi, what can I say. Jalebis, bangles, literacy club...all things that define her. Can't wait for this story to pick up! I can wait as long as I get to read such awesome updates...oh and I have a feeling there will be an exchange of letter between the two as pen pals?
I was laughing at la's words: will there be cute boys? Hayye, middle school day were so simple haina?
Arnav lounged on his chair lazily as several of his classmates sat close to him looking at him awestruck. The latest victory at the Sports Championship had propelled him into the limelight yet again. Arnav was getting used to having people swarming around him all the time. The teachers loved him; the girls swooned over him; the boys looked up to him. He was pretty much the blue eyed boy in the school; brilliant in academics, exceptional in sports, outstanding in extracurricular activities.
And this is why he was the obvious choice for a volunteer when his English teacher announced about the impending Literary Week Celebrations which were coming up soon.
"Arnav," the teacher called for him. "Next week CMS has been invited by Bal Vidya Mandir for the Literary week celebrations being held at their school. The School Literary Captain has asked for two volunteers from each class and I've signed you up for it," she announced. Arnav nodded resignedly and sat down.
He knew from past experiences that these were one of the most dreadfully boring events to ever take place. A bunch of old writers were invited as chief guests who sat around looking busy and then bored the gathering with their depressingly long speeches. In the end, a few children of the host school recited poems or sang group songs. He had hoped he could wiggle his way out this time, but he knew this was one of the occupational hazards of being the star of the school.
"Arnav! This is so cool! Congratulations!" a boy sitting behind him whispered eagerly. Arnav turned back to stare at him incredulously.
"What is so cool about it?" Arnav hissed.
"Don't you know? Bal Vidya Mandir is an all girls' school," another boy sitting next to him spoke up. Arnav raised his eyebrows as he absorbed the news.
"Dude I'm your buddy aren't I? Take me along with you please?" beseeched yet another guy from the other side. Arnav stared at his fan following and smirked.
"I'll see what I can do," he replied.

Khushi and Lavanya were sitting in the English Department, discussing the plans for the impending Literary Week Celebrations with the other students gathered there. It was one of the most prestigious events that their school Bal Vidya Mandir organised every year and this year they had decided to invite other schools in the vicinity. The prefects were distributing tasks to the volunteers while the House Captains sat debating what events could be organized to make things more exciting.
"I have an idea," Khushi suddenly spoke up, her voice greeted by curious glances. Her English teacher nodded at her permitting to go ahead.
"This year why don't we have an Inter-School PenPal Initiative?" She saw some people exchanging incredulous glances. Lavanya smiled, remembering how she'd teased Khushi the previous evening about becoming the future Literary Captain. It seemed Khushi had taken it to heart. Lavanya sat up in anticipation of what was to follow.
Their teacher looked interested. "Can you elaborate on that Khushi?" she asked.
"Sure. I'll explain everything." Khushi replied confidently. It seemed like she had thought everything through.
