I wanted to make this post yday for KTLK's anniversary but didn't find time. A short OS on Ashni and their

As luck would have it, Nidhi was late again !!! In spite of having been told that today is an important day for all interns as Dr. Sahay was coming to discuss an important case with Dr. Ashutosh and he wanted the interns to benefit from this too and had asked them to attend as well. If only she hadn't been dreaming about her boss and woke up late to stare at the clock showing 8 am already!! And to top it, her car wouldn't start and she had to take a cab, then remembered after a while, she forgot her stetho, had to rush back and get it. She couldn't forget how Dr. Ashutosh had reprimanded her for forgetting her stetho home one day. "Dr. Nidhi, Aap hospital aana nahi bhoolti, ek doctor hoke stetho bhool gayi?". My god, how much would he insult her today if she messes up anything more, she is
already late.
It had been three months since she had joined KGH, and though she could feel Dr. Ashutosh's attitude towards her toning down, but still he was very strict especially when it came to being punctual on duty. Oh, but how dashing he looked even in anger. Sometimes, she wanted to see his uptight face with brows drawn together, and did not mind getting scolded by him. All that was music to her ears, where she would just lower her eyes and silently feast on Dr. Hardstone's charming persona. Ashutosh had an inkling about Nidhi's feelings from her looks, and would not be able to carry on his admonishment for long and would have to divert. Nidhi would be so amused at that. But something told her, that today, she would not be able to do either of this and get into trouble.
After paying the cab, she hurriedly grabbed her bag and rushed inside KGH, signed in, and met Dr. Ranganath on the way. "Dr Nidhi, where were you, you like to get into trouble isnt it? Trust you to be the one to show up late. Rush now, and.. good luck. You need it". Fearing the worst, Nidhi, closed her eyes, and quietly entered the conference room. She was waiting to hear her name in a loud voice before opening her eyes. After waiting for a couple of minutes, when she did'nt hear any such thing, she opened her eyes slowly. And to her utter surprise, the conference room was empty, and she found Dr. Ashutosh sitting alone by the conference table. Oh god, she got this late, that the meeting is over, and everyone left!!She got too scared and looked at Ashutosh, unable to gather courage to say anything. He got up from the chair and came forward. Nidhi, you are finished, today he is not going to spare you. She stood rooted to her spot, as he came closer and closer, till he was at a elbow's distance from her. He had never been this close to her. Sweat formed on Nidhi's forehead. Was he going to beat her? She closed her eyes in fearful anticipation."Dr. Nidhi, you look beautiful today", Ashutosh said in the most appealing, calm and deep voice. She was about to fall off as she opened her eyes, and saw him with the most captivating smile. She was totally blown away. Was this a dream? Instead of getting angry with her, he was complimenting her and smiling too!!. Nidhi pinched herself to make sure she wasn't dreaming.Ouch! She pinched a little too hard. "Everything alright, Dr. Nidhi?" "Y..yeesss Sir, I am sorry about being late for the meeting, has Dr. Sahay left already?" He didn't say anything, just looked on with the same smile. Oh my god, is he going to kill me today? "What do you think Dr. Nidhi? He was supposed to be here by 830, now its 10". Nidhi gulped hard. Maybe today he is going to give her the sweet torture, all smiles first and then... " "I apologise again sir, everything started late with me waking up late, then breakdown of my car, and forgetting my stetho...". Ashutosh's smile widened at the last line. "You know Nidhi, you are just the opposite of me, I like things to be in order, on time, without mistakes. And you somehow manage to do just the opposite". His gaze felt deeper on her face as he said that and she did not realize he had said Nidhi instead of Dr. Nidhi. "I will try my best not to repeat this sir, I mean not to be late like
this, and mess up things and...". "And what?", he came closer. "And... and... and try to change myself for the better Sir", she managed to say trying to look away from his gaze which was getting more and more piercing. "No!
Don't do that!". Nidhi was shocked to hear Ashutosh's loud voice and looked at him startled. His eyes softened as he repeated in a lowered voice, "Don't change yourself Nidhi, be a responsible doctor as you rightly need to be, but keep your bubbly, spirited, silly self that you are, the one that stole my heart." Nidhi looked at him wide eyed totally awed.He then came closer,held her hands gently and said, "I am tired of leading this perfectly disciplined life Nidhi, the ripples that you have created in my world in the past one month are pulling me towards you. Will you help me bridge the gap and come closer? Bring a little chaos in my life and some order in yours? Help me get out of my dark enclosure, to your world of hope ". Nidhi's eyes moistened at this, she could not believe
herself and nodded her head,as her blurry eyes met another similar pair.
