It might not be pleasant for us to watch, particularly because there is the fear that this situation could lead to a difference of opinion between the leads.

But, in reality, latchkey kids are a serious issue. Children are often locked up inside homes when parents are called away on work. Or, if both parents are at work, children otten have their own keys to enter locked homes, where they remain alone until the parents are back. There is always the underlying danger of chidlren coming to harm under the circumstances. However, modern parents, who are left without family support and who cannot afford to hire help to supervise their children, often resot to this on account of work pressures.

I think this is something that the audience will definitely relate to. In the case of Ashutosh and Nidhi, things are worse since they have taken temporary custody of the child. So any harm befalling the child will directly impact them. There will be legal consequences to face apart from moral and emotional consequences.

This is a very interesting scenario that the creatives have come up with. Also, an extremely realistic one. Look forward to how they are going to handle this one!

Good post. But the kid concerned is supposed to be a street kid who is tough and matured for her age. She must be used for remaining alone .She was smart enough to enter and hide in the house .and not very young also. For this reasons I found this situation contrived to create an MU or difference of opinion. it would have been more realistic if she is lost or ran away from the house

Radhika...whatever she is, the fact is they have taken temporary custody of her...and assured the police that they will take on her responsibility...that she is a street kid is not a valid excuse if something were to befall her...I was half expecting her to drown in the bath tub today!

I don't mean to say street kids can be left to themselves. I wrote about the precap. where the child could have been negligent and caused fire accident. This whiz kid appeared to know about everything and could'nt believe her not knowing about what is dangerous and what is not. But the true fact is I am biased and simply can't take this child. She is worse than mallu.

Most definitely the fire must have been caused by the child's negligence. But being a street kid and not too familiar with gadgets, there is every chance that she could have meddled with something and caused a short circuit na...yes, she talks way too much...but the sad reality is there are a lot of kids like this...obviously, there is an element of exaggeration since this is a drama...

My own niece, who is hardly ten years of age, asked my would-be sister-in-law, who was visiting our family home for the first time, why she had not gotten married for so long and, worse still, told her that she looked too old to be getting married...all of us felt like disappearing from there right then...there was pindrop silence...and then all of us started talking at the same time to cover up...I cannot tell you how embarrassing it was...kids these days are incredibly precocious...both my cousin and her husband are extremely soft and mild mannered...we are still unable to figure out how this one turned out the way she has...

Sadly true. the sole reason is media and the early exposure they get. Today parents alone are not responsible for a child's behavior and so many factors are involved. which sometimes goes beyond our control.

Good post Sujatha...

I have a friend who works part time but for a gap of half and hour or so her daughter is left alone at home..

Today we have a choice.. also we can afford expensive baby sitters.. but what about those you cannot.. those who have no support system..

Some time you can hire a maid... but are they really reliable? What do such parents do?

I grew up as a latchkey kid from the age of 8 and had to baby sit my younger brother.. My parents had no support system in the town we grew up... grandmothers lived in different cities...
and mom could not afford to sit at home..

In such a situation... it is such a huge crime to leave children alone??

Divya, I was one myself from the age of eleven to when I finished school...I made up my mind then that my children would never be latchkey kids...thankfully I managed to achieve that with help from my mother 😊.

I can understand what your friend must be feeling!

Agree with u Sujathaji...but just as Nidhi was forced to leave the kid alone...as she had a hospital emergency...it was a question of life and death for someone else...this disobidient girl was not ready to accompany her...so poor Nidhi had no option but to leave her on her own...all parents , I am sure do this, when forced to and not very willingly...toh I think at times, situations r unavoidable...!
