Hi Guys!
A slightly sad OS as I was just 'in that mood'
Please do listen to the song before, whilst, or after you have read it, it's such a beautiful song

The wind swept through her loose hair, lifting the strands up and down; blowing across her face in smooth turmoil as she looked up at the night sky.
In a routine trance, her eyes flitted back and forth anxiously as she scanned the sky for any tell tale signs that her existence was being taken away from her.
A single tear; that single tear she was trying so hard to hold on to was rapidly threatening to spill from her drained eyes. If that single tear was to fall... she wouldn't be able to stop. She had to be strong for him.
How can I be so selfish?
Her husband. Her Love, her everything, was selflessly fighting for his country. He was fighting so that she could be kept safe; so that her neighbours could sleep peacefully and live a normal life. He was protecting them all, and she was so unbelievably proud to call him hers.
But I want to be selfish.
She wanted her husband home, and safe in her arms where he belonged. She wanted to wake up to see his perfect face again. She was breaking without him and her strength was increasingly being crushed by the thought that something could have happened to him. She couldn't take the constant fear and dread that stopped her breath every time the phone rang. She needed him.
She wrapped her dupatta around her tighter against the bitter breeze, clutching at her arms as she closed her eyes; remembering his warmth and how it surrounded her. Her heart clenched as she thought about how she could feel it slipping away day by day.
She missed him.
His strong embrace, his protective presence and that husky drawl that sent shivers through her whole being when he looked at her like she was his life.
A warming touch soothed her, as she tore her searching eyes away from the taunting night sky.
'Amma?'
She glanced at the tiny hands in front of her, sloppily brushing away the stray tear on her cold cheek.
Avi... Her baby, just like his father, wise beyond his years. He held her face in his beautiful little hands and stared in to her soul with those heart melting eyes and shook his head angrily.
'He'll come home Amma... He promised'
Those words cracked her completely as she frantically sought to gain some semblance over her breaking heart, nodding vigorously in assurance as their son wrapped his arms around her neck; clinging to her.
She could feel her heart break even more as she felt his hushed tears trickling down her back. 'Our beautiful little boy,' she thought.
'I'm so proud of you Avi'
For the final time that night, as she sat with her son in her arms, she looked up at the night sky and closed her eyes in pleading silent prayer
'Laut ke aana Arnavji'
