The season for remakes is back in Bollywood. Sajid Khan is making Himmatwala, while Rajat Rawail has bought the rights to the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Kaalia. So, how could feisty TV, and now movie, czarina Ekta Kapoor hold back? Ekta's Balaji Telefilms is now planning to step into the fantasy genre, by buying the rights to remake the Reena Roy-Jeetendra starrer Nagin.
The film, we hear, will go on the floor next year, but the cast has not yet been finalised. But we doubt Ekta will want to further the family association with the film by bringing in brother Tusshar Kapoor to reprise their father's role. After all, Jeetendra did create Bollywood dance history of sorts by performing some rather slippery moves in the original film, and we don't think Tusshar could replicate papa's Jumping Jack feat. Actually, we hope he doesn't — not unless Ekta is planning to make a spoof!
And, as for an actor who will portray Reena Roy's character, dare we suggest Sonakshi Sinha? Anyway, we will keep you updated as Ekta's Nagin takes shape, so watch this space…
