At 16, an astrologer declared that she will be a mere housewife. Today, Smriti Irani is one of the best known faces on television. "I worked doubly hard to carve a niche for myself as I believe destiny is governed by our actions," reveals Smriti but she also believes that our relationships are pre-destined. "Though we can work our way up in the professional arena, only God can decide who will come into our lives. After my marriage, I felt that this aspect of my life was destined," adds Smriti.
Maninee De almost dismissed the prediction of a tarot card reader who once told her that she will meet her 'soulmate' within a few months. "Not just was I told that his initials will be MM but also minor details about his complexion and background," shares Maninee. By fate, she did meet Mihir Mishra and eventually tied the knot with him.

Though our life is pre-determined, good karma softens God." The way she met and fell in love with actor-husband Apoorva Agnihotri reinforced her faith. "I tried so hard to dodge him but the similarities between us were too uncanny, and now I feel we were meant to be a couple."
An actor who certainly feels that his actions determined his success is Aman Varma. "Nothing in life is pre-determined. Luck only favours those who are brave," says Varma who survived through many a controversy in his career. "It's what you put in that you get back. I see so many talented people around, but not many have the resilience to struggle it out in this industry."
Actor Iqbal Khan, who shares screen space with Pallavi in KAA, swears by the magic wand of destiny. "I started my career with two films, which now I think were destined to flop. I didn't get any work for almost a year, and not that I looked any different then. But suddenly one day, I got a call by Balaji Telefilms to play Angad's character, and God has been kind ever since," he says.
