Nonsense article. Bollywood also has many movies that portray Muslims and Pakistan favorably. So why should they ignore something that happens in real life? The truth is that Muslim names are behind almost all terrorist activities in the world whether it's the World Trade Center going down, embassies being bombed, cars and buses being blown up, subway bombings in Europe... the list goes on and on.

If a movie wants to do a story about terrorism, what are they going to do, use Hawaiian and Mexican names? 😆

All I want to say is, at the end of the day, we should all educate ourselves on other religions in the world so terrorists don't take advantage of our ignorance.

Also, stereotypes suck.

Also, this author should also acknowledge how Indians/Hindus are portrayed in Pakistani media (eg. that drama where SRK was made fun of for marrying a Hindu).

This article is also bullshit in many other ways...in the fact that he has generalized all indian films as being anti-muslim and anti-pakistani!
Did he happen to see 'Kahaani' which had terrorism as the main theme, and the villains in the story were all hindus. Milan Damji...Gujrati hindu name. Raghavan (the guy who plays the IB Chief)...typical south-indian hindu brahmin name...Sreedhar (the guy who plays the IT Head)...once again, a typical hindu name.
Infact, if anything...one of the main hero's of the film was a character named Khan, who is shown to be intensely loyal to his country.
And the author of the article writes about Sarfarosh as an example! He happily points out that Naseerudin Shah is shown as being a Pakistani Muslim who tries to harm India...but he forgot that one of the main 'good guys' in the film was a character named Salim, who plays a loyal indian citizen, who helps to nab the terrorists!
He then gives the example of 'Fanaa' where Aamir plays a Kashmiri Muslim Terrorist...conviniently forgetting that the character who kills him in the end, after knowing that he is a terrorist, is also a Kashmiri Muslim Woman, who prefers to be loyal to her country than to her husband.
And has he even heard of the film called, Firaaq, based on the Gujrat Riots...directed by a 'Hindu' Nandita Das...literally every hindu character in the film is shown to be negative and every muslim character has been shown in a sympathetic light!
The article is not even correctly written...the suicide bomber in Dil Se is not a muslim...she is an Assamesse HINDU!
Bollywood Films are pretty liberal-minded and moderate when it comes to portraying Pakistani's and Muslims in general! I can only think of very few examples where a film deliberately distorted facts and showed something that was not true!

^ he mentioned Rehan the terrorist Muslim in Fanaa, but not Zooni, his Muslim wife, who chose country over love and killed him.

Also what about SRK from MNIK, or Karisma from Fiza? Vivek from Kurbaan?

It's a one-sided article basically, sigh.

There seems to be a confusion in the interpretation of the word "jihad". Ur speaking of jihad as "warfare" whereas, i believe, blackstar speaks of it as an inner struggle. It means a number of things and depends how u wanna see it, really.

I mean, the word became popular when it was misinterpreted during Arafats'94 speech in reference to Israelis 😕...wont take a scientist to fig out wth is in fact going on.

What a a few sick twisted minded people do (whether at the behest of the govt or some personal vengence) should not reflect as the moral character of a whole population. Religion is just a scapegoat to carry out personal agendas.

As much as i agree with the last sentence of yours, i believe the muslim world should not have allowed the terrorsit gangs to misuse the word Jihaad. i mean cmon its ridiculous that scores of people come out to protest on cartoons and videos but be silent in their homes on this blatant misuse of the word Jihaad by terrorist organisations. Why?

And let me be clear, if such words or actions were in hindu scripture, which people would misuse to kill people unnecessarily i would have hated that too. I am a woman and a life creator so i admonish anything that is associated with life ending activities, irrespective of religion.

This topic deals with discussion about religion which as we know can become very controversial as it is a sensitive topic, so I am closing this post before things get out of hand.
