We all feel very very angry when Bhabo time and again puts down Sandhya's ambition. Our blood boils to see such an intelligent girl confined to the four walls of the house. If we delve deeper we may be able to understand Bhabo's perspective.I completed my education and starting working after my marriage only because of the support extended by my husband.I can understand very well how these things work .Bhabo wanted a girl who would look after her son and manage the family. That is what every traditional mother in law wants.Assuming if Bhabo allows Sandhya to study and she becomes an IPS officer, glamour aside, it is not an easy life for a married women, if the husband is not from the services. I know you will all pounce on me,how dare she...Just hear me out.The IPS ARE POSTED TO DIFFERENT DISTRICTS OF THE STATE AND IN BETWEEN IN DELHI FROM TIME TO TIME. NO MATTER HOW MANY UNREALISTIC THINGS THEY MAY HAVE SHOWN IN THE TERRORISM TRACK,HERE THEY CANNOT SHOW SANDHYA IN PUSHKAR ALWAYS.Which mother would like to see her son and daughter in law separated for long durations permanently till she retires from services.Bhabo is not educated and has spent a lifetime looking after her family, which is what a traditional woman is expected of by the society. So if you see it from Bhabo's point of view she is not wrong. Most of the girls in civil services either marry their batchmates or if they marry someone else spend a lifetime living away from each other.I know you will all argue that this is the jet age and you can meet in weekends but that again is difficult for a police officer who normally many a times gets weekend duties and for Suraj who has to manage his business. What happens to the children? YOU MAY ARGUE THAT TO GET SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO SACRIFICE SOMETHING.HERE IN THIS STORY THEY ARE DIYA AUR BATI DEEPLY ATTACHED TO EACH OTHER.. In yesterday's E24 SEGMENT THEY SHOWED SURAJ RESTLESS WHEN SANDHYA WANTED TO GO TO HER BROTHER'S HOUSE HOW IS HE GOING TO BEAR MONTHS OF SEPARATION.DO NOT GET ME WRONG.I HAVE WORKED ALL MY LIFE,BUT IN SANDHYA'S CASE THE PURSUIT OF HER IPS DREAMS WOULD LEAD TO INEVITABLE SEPARATION.Wish they had chosen another profession to keep our DIYA AUR BATI TOGETHER.
OR ALTERNATIVELY SHOW SURAJ EXPANDING HIS BUSINESS TO BE WITH HIS BELOVED.

I definitely understand Bhabo's viewpoint. For me, that's what so good about this show! It shows both sides of the story, and is so unbiased. It lets the viewers choose their side. I for one, am on both. I feel for both Bhabo, and Sandy. I'm really interested to see how they will show the IPS track. 😊

UMDU aunty... U have raised so many good points...!!! Bhavo is an uneducated traditional woman... But even in educated families its hard to imagine wives or daughter-in-laws travelling around the country to keep their job... For a man its possible cause his wives and kids move around with him but 4 a woman its very hard... One of my uncle is in army and always location of his post change and only 4 this reason his wife had to leave her job.. a very good one and had to become a house-wife... So I can imagine 4 a girl how difficult it is... But its true that if they chose another occupation then this kind of bravery and patriotism in a girl was not possible to show in Sandhya... I am also not taking any sides... Cause no matter how badly I want to see Sandy as an IPS... I understand Bhabo's concern and I cant see at any cost Suraj ji in pain... whatever the reason is...!!! But I dont think they will show diya and baati separately cause then the show will loose it's charm... I really want to know how an IPS girl's life is when her husband not in police or other civil services... Producer of DABH once said that it was inspired by a true story where one panipuri wala made his wife IPS... So I wonder how they managed to live together... Cause of course husband- wife can not live separately 4 that long time of period...!!!

I guess they took it as a challenge to come up with the IPS idea. Any other service like doctor or teacher wouldn't be as challenging as this one. These professions might get approved by Bhabo more easily than IPS.
And IPS issue would add more to drama n also inspire people showing how a DIL of an orthodox family like Rathis fights all the odds and achieves her dream to become an IPS officer.

Yes, Bhabo is right in her place n Sandhya too has the right to chase her dream! I too can't choose a side!.😊 It would be interesting to see the clash!

And I believe separation or distance will not be a problem when two souls are connected that also souls like SurYa's! 😳 They are always together. Fevicol ki majbut jod hain! 😆

Great post UMDU'ji...Eagerly waiting for the education n IPS track to take place!

Ayeshi and Farhana the panipuriwala on whose story this is based would not have been able to live with his wife unless he gave up his profession or extended his business to different cities. We have the classic example of Kiran Bedi India's first woman IPS officer who was married to a Punjab based businessman. They never lived together.I am saying it with so much conviction and certainity as many in my family are in the civil services. That is how I know this profession well..

I understand UMDU'ji!
Lets c how cvs show these things.
They showed how surya survived thru the traumatic period of months right after their marriage when they didnt even know whats the destination of their relation. But now they know theres love n respect where distance shud nt matter. I hv faith in cvs, i trust they will show this being close to reality. Waise abhi toh yeh bohut dur ki baat hain..this separation track wud take at least six months or kya pata even might take a year to come!

Aha! Here you goes My beloved Aunty came with such an excellent post. I must say your best created thread till date.👍🏼.⭐️.

I really understand Bhabho's POV n believe me I'm not at all even angry on her even for a 0.1%.There is nothing wrong if she oppose n stop Sandhya to become an IPS officer. Bhabho is one normal Indian mother n she has never got chance to expand her vision to look at life from different perspectives. She was totally bound by domestic responsibilities so I won't blame for her for that. Sandhya is one who has broad vision n big heart n I'm sure she'll bring transformation in Bhabho's thinking. We've seen glimpses of change in Bhabho's character in past few weeks. In the beginning she'll oppose Sandhya's further education but in the end she'll be the one who'll support her unconditionally along with Sooraj to achieve the dream. After all it's important that MIL n DIL relation coexist well when DIL think about to join IPS..😆.. Bhabho will look after army of SurYa I mean SurYa's kids yar..😆..😉

Waise, Kiran Bedi's husband(Brij Bedi) was also in army. Both started to fall in love with each-other during training session. Both decided to get marry in lord shiva's temple in a really simple manner. You're right many times they've stay away from each-other but still there bond is as strong as like "Fevicol or Ambuja Cement"..

Sushi Mittal said(I remembered well because he mentioned name of my city Ahmedabad..🤔):- I used to live in Ahmedabad n 20 years back I read story in news paper how PaniPuri vala helping his wife to become a civil servant...

I'm also eagerly waiting for Sandhya's IPS journey to start...How she balance with her career n household? Will there be any change in relationship with Bhabho n Sooraj? I've many queries in my empty-headed brain.. Let's wait n watch how CV's plot the story.

Ami thank you so for your appreciation. If my memory does not fail me Kiran Bedi's husband is into some textile machine manufacturing may be he was in the army earlier and they met in a lawn tennis court and their romance started. Why I know this is there used to be a programme in Doordarshan about great personalities a few yrs back and I used to watch it regularly and there they showed romance blooming between Brij and Kiran.Well that is hardly relevant.I as you know am a die hard romantic and wld never want our DAB TO BE EVER SEPARATED EVEN FOR A SHORT DURATION.MAYBE THEY WILL END THE SERIAL AFTER SHE SUCCEEDS IN CLEARING THE EXAM. WAITING FOR THE CVs TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE LATER.

I may not always agree with her...but I totally understand Bhabo's point of view...and find no fault in it considering her background.
IPS is a very difficult job...and I too have wondered why the CVs picked this particular profession...😕. As it is, long distance relationships suck...and the fact that IPS officers get posted in different places over the course of their career is just one set back. The fact that they put their lives on the line daily is another draw-back. One wonders when Sandhya will have time for Suraj...for managing her family...for starting a family...etc. Granted she is still very young...but these are realities that go along with marriage. And regardless of how educated you or your MIL is...you are still expected to manage the home, cook up dinner, please your husband, and give birth to happy, healthy, bouncing grand-kids...😆...These expectations do not change reagardless of how technologically advanced we become.
But having said that...and myself coming from a background of being educated and successfully balancing a home, career, and kids...this is one of the reasons I watch DABH...I want to see how the CVs present Sandhya's case to the viewing public at large.
If they stick with realism...both Suraj and Sandhya will have to make tough choices, adjustments, and a lot of compromises...that's the way it goes...at least in real life. 😆

Ummesulaiman,I totally and completely agree with you on this issue. As behind all the glamour, reality is painful. My relatives who are both husband and wife in services are often posted in different places.Agar yeh unka hal hai to if the spouse is not in the civil services imagine their plight.I do not want to be cynical but one cannot ignore the reality either.
