Chapter 6
Khushi of course Anjali thought. That's where she heard the name from her brother all those years ago. Wait it can't be the same girl not the way Arnav had described her Anjali thought looking up and down at the girl in front of her. Then she looked at her brother to Khushi to NK analysing each of their expressions.
Arnav was looking at Khushi in astonishment. He couldn't believe Khushi was standing right in front of him after all these years. He didn't why but he felt like hugging her but just stood there stunned. "Khushi I can't believe it's you" making it obvious he was checking her out.
Khushi had no expression on her face at first but seeing Arnav looking at her stunned made her put her fingers on her mouth to cover the smile she was supressing as she looked down and back up at him. Composing herself she could see he was checking her out which she didn't know how to respond to but ignored it all the same. "Yes Arnav it is me. I see you haven't changed one bit though. Although I do admit going from who you were to who you are now is a great achievement. Congratulations" Khushi said with no emotion. "Thanks" came the surprise reply as Arnav looked back at her. "So how have you been?" Arnav asked. "Good actually. Very good" Khushi replied. "You know we should meet up soon and catch up" Arnav asked causally. "We'll see. I have only just got back today and I would like to spend time with my family and also I need to catch up on a lot of other things. Maybe when I am more settled. Listen I have to go to my father. He said he need to introduce me to some more people" Khushi said. "It was nice to meet you Anjaliji" Khushi turned to look at Anjali. She turned to look at NK. "NK would you accompany me?"
NK who had looked surprised when he realised that the girl he liked knew Arnav and Arnav knew her was slightly upset. He knew Arnav's reputation. Who didn't he thought bitterly. Ever since he had met Arnav he knew he had a knack for getting any woman he wanted. Which girl didn't want to be with Arnav Singh Raizada? NK had pretty quickly realized that girls swooned over him and no other guy had a chance but here at this moment was a beautiful woman who instead of paying Arnav any attention was ignoring him. His own expression going from shock to surprise to trying hard not to grin. As he saw Khushi ask him looked down at her extended his arm where she gladly placed her hand and they both headed off towards her father.
The whole Raizada and Malhotra family saw what had just happened plus Payal who was talking to Akash at the time saw the whole scene unfold. Payal and Akash just gaped before they looked at one another and had to move away to not only talk in private plus as soon as they moved away they couldn't stop laughing at what they had just seen.
Nani, mami, mama, Anjali, Rahul and his parents had also seen something they had never scene and were trying hard to hold they laughter but as they couldn't they all moved away.
Anjali and Rahul looked at one another while walking and burst out laughing. "Anjali I can't believe what I just saw. A girl actually walking away from Arnav with my brother now that is a first" Rahul said in fit of laughter only to receive a hit on the arm by Anjali who was giggling equally.
Arnav just stood there not believing what had just happened. Khushi had completely just ignored him and went with NK out of all guys. He couldn't help but look at her retreating back noticing her milky back wishing if only he could touch it. What am I thinking he mentally shock himself. He still couldn't help looking at her, the way her hips swayed, the way her dress fitted perfectly enhancing her perfect curves, how that perfect body would feel under him. Arnav had to shake his head wondering what he was thinking. He hadn't seen her in ten years and this is what he was thinking but he couldn't help it. She is beautiful, more beautiful than I have ever imagined he thought. What he wouldn't do just to b beside her, take her away from here and do god knows what to her.
Lavanya who had been with her friends decided to go find Arnav. She found him looking somewhere but didn't look at what. She walked up to him, placed her hand on his arm bringing him out of his trance and facing her. "ASR can we get out of here?" Lavanya purred near his ear. Arnav was about to say yes but stopped and looked again towards Khushi. "No. Not yet" came the reply. Arnav was surprised at himself for saying that as well. Here he was with a beautiful woman next to him who wanted to go back to her apartment where they both could get up to whatever he wanted but he said 'no'. Why the hell not Arnav thought. "Why not?" Lavanya pouted. "I have some people I need to meet before I can leave" turning his head to face her. Lavanya looked at him suspiciously but nodded a yes. "Ok. I will go back to my friends. Come and get me when you want to leave." With that she left to head to her friends but not before looking at the girl Arnav had been staring at. Humph! She has nothing on me Lavanya thought with a smirk and left it at that.
Arnav turned back to look at Khushi who by now was talking to her father who seemed to be impressed with NK. This started to bug him and he didn't know why. He saw how Khushi had her back to him but just glanced between her father and NK and not looking anywhere else. Arnav decided to move away to talk to some other people.
Khushi had been glad when she led NK away to her father. As soon as she saw him she could feel a blush creeping on her but she had to compose herself. She felt his gaze on her making her shiver giving her goose bumps all over her body, making her think things she hadn't thought of in years, she could smell the musky smell that was him as he was so close to her making her wanting to just hug him then and there but she had to stop. She was so glad of NK at that moment; he had unknowingly become her saviour. She had taken his arm and moved away from Arnav allowing her heart to come back to normal which was still beating erratically.
Her father had met NK before but this time Shashi Gupta got to know him a bit better only for his daughter's sake as he could see she had made a friend in someone.
Shashi then excused himself leaving Khushi and NK to talk while Arnav on the other side saw this and was getting irked which he couldn't understand why.
After a while the dinner was being served and everyone took their places.
Khushi and NK sat next to each other and carried on talking while Arnav could not take his eyes off them which made Lavanya mad that while she was trying to talk to him Arnav was not giving her the attention she wanted.
Once dinner was over the party got in full swing where there was a dj playing and many people went on to the dance floor. NK got up from his seat and held out a hand to Khushi which she gladly took even though she was very tired and they headed to the dance floor which irritated Arnav to the core. So he did the same and practically pulled Lavanya onto the dance floor.
Khushi who was dancing with NK had suddenly seen Arnav on the dance floor and avoided looking his way and just gazed up at NK listening intently who was looking right back at her.
Anjali who had been observing Khushi, her brother and her brother-in-law all evening knew from the expressions on everyone's faces plus the way they were acting she knew there was trouble ahead. Looking at her husband she said "Rahul, I'm worried." "Why and what about?" turning his full attention to his wife. "Well it seems like Chote and NK bhai are about to go after the same girl and I'm worried that this is just going to cause more of a rift between the two" Anjali said while looking down at her fingers which were twiddling her sari's pallu. Rahul extended his hand and placed it above her's making her stop what she was doing and look up at him. "We will cross that bridge if it ever comes" looking at Anjali with a small smile reassuring her that he was there no matter what. This small gesture calmed her down a little but it didn't mean she was not worried.
NK had dancing happily with Khushi while Arnav who was behind them was eyeing them up. Why the hell is she dancing with him? What does she see in him? Arnav started questioning himself. Lavanya had been watching Arnav's reaction's all evening and hated the fact he was not paying her any attention. "ASR can we please go home?" she pleaded while pouting. Arnav looked down at her and was about to answer when an announcement was heard on the mike.
Khushi couldn't help but blush as everyone was looking at her and clapping. She was hesitant at first but Payal who was also on the dance floor came up to her and gestured her to go ahead. "But jiji I don't want to go" Khushi said in nervousness. "Oh Khushi, I'll come with you if you want" as Payal started pulling her towards the dj. "But jiji..." she couldn't complete her sentence as she was practically dragged towards the dj stand. He handed her the mike which she took with shaky hands and Payal made her turn towards the audience who were all facing her making her more nervous. So she held onto Payal's hand. "First I would like to thank my family for this party and this wonderful welcome back. I love you all. Next I would like to thank everyone who has come to this party. I know I don't know many of you but I still thank you. So enough of my speeches and let's carry on with this party." A round of applause was heard after her speech as she turned to hand the dj his mike and he carried on with the music.
Arnav who was with Lavanya had left her and walked up to Khushi before she could move back towards NK. Khushi turned to see Arnav heading her way and her face went pale but she quickly composed herself. Arnav walked right up to her, towering over her making her tilt her head up looking into his eyes which at the moment were boring into her, making her shiver and her heartbeat accelerate. He looked into her hazel eyes after such a long time reminding him of the innocence she always had in them but this time something was different. It was as though he were being pulled to an unknown magnet, he felt as though he could drown himself into her eyes, his eyes then moved towards her lips which at that moment he wanted to taste just once but they were both brought out of there trance as NK came to Khushi and asked her to dance. As she turned to look at NK she took his hand and walked off making Arnav mad.
He walked up towards Lavanya, grabbed her hand and was heading out when the lights went out.
Everyone couldn't see anything; they all looked around to see what was going on.
Shashi Gupta had to quickly go and find out what had happened.
Arnav took this opportunity to talk to Khushi. He turned around to see if he could make her out. He let go of Lavanya saying he was going to look for his sister. Lavanya didn't think anything of it. Then he moved through the crowd to see if he could see her but wasn't able to until he heard her voice. She was talking to NK who in turn was looking at her but the turned to see if he could see anyone else. NK had been trying to hold her hand but she avoided doing that. NK got a phone call from his brother which he took while turning away from Khushi. Khushi also got a call from her sister while Arnav got a call from Anjali. He picked it up but was whispering which Anjali couldn't hear so he dropped the call making Anjali look at her phone and call him again but Arnav had turned his phone off. NK had just moved slightly away from Khushi talking to his brother while Khushi was talking to Payal as they were trying to ascertain where everyone was. Once she finished the call she felt a hand cover her mouth and being pulled away making her startle and try to scream but to no avail as her mouth was covered. Before she knew it she had been taken away from the marquee towards the side of the house. She then felt herself being slammed up against the wall as the person who had taken her away came in front of her up close so she couldn't move from her position. Her eyes widened as she could make out the profile.
"Khushi don't scream" Arnav warned her. Khushi just looked at him and then at his hand when he moved it. "What do you think you are playing at?" she shouted making him put his hand over her mouth again. "I said don't scream. I just want to talk" Arnav gritted through clenched teeth. He moved his hand again only for Khushi to look at him in a rage. "Talk, in this way? What do you think you are doing?" as venom was spitting through her eyes. "Why did you just leave and never talk to me or see me ever again all those years ago?" Arnav asked. Khushi knew this conversation would come up but she didn't want to answer this. "I can't believe you want to talk about the past while holding me prisoner" while she looked at their position. Arnav suddenly realised how close they were so he backed off. Khushi looked down at herself and started cleaning her dress with her hands making sure nothing was on her dress before she headed back to the marquee where the lights were still not on but she also noticed neither were the other garden lights nor the house's lights were on. Just as she was about to move she felt her wrist being caught and pulled into Arnav's chest as twisted her arm behind her back trapping her again. "I thought I said I wanted to talk to you" Arnav spoke in a temper. "Well I don't want to speak to you" Khushi shot back. "Fine then" Arnav said before he slammed his lips onto hers in a punishing kiss. With her free hand Khushi tried but failed to push him of her but she kept her lips closed not allowing him access into her mouth. Arnav kissed her very hungrily not really knowing why but he felt like he could do this forever.
Khushi was still trying to push him off but instead moved her head back making Arnav stare at her and her look at him. "What do you think you are doing?" Khushi shouted while with her fingers brushing against her lips trying to get rid of the feel of his kiss. Arnav saw her doing this making him angrier. He held her neck with his hand making her head tilt towards him before kissing her again before biting her lower lip making her bleed before pushing her back. Khushi looked up at him mad as hell. "Get ready to be pursued Miss Gupta. One of these days I will make you mine" Arnav said challenging her before walking off. "No way in hell" he heard her say back but when Arnav wanted something he made sure he got it.
