so let me make a wild guess with the things u gave...

kriya's parents were very efficient agents... and their last case somehow got personal and got kriya involved in it. kash at that time were engaged. they were like co-agents/junior somewhat like that.
so kriya's parents died i think it was and kash owed their lives to them somehow' kriya was left alone.. so the responsibility sort of felt over them.. shilpa chickened out but karan was adamant' and hence the stry'You have some of it while some is wrong..

C h a p t e r 8

She had left, but no, not for another man or anything like that. She loved him back as well. The reason was something different. That memory would never leave him. He got lost in his past.

*FLASH-BACK*

It happened after the death of Kriya's parents. All five of them: Karan, Shilpa, Kriya and her parents, used to be a happy family. Shilpa and Karan were about to get engaged. It wasn't wrong to call them a family already! Suddenly, a mission came along; which required Kriya's parent's attention. They soon left for that, leaving Kriya under Karan and Shilpa's care and both of them were happy as well to look after Kriya while they were on mission. They considered Kriya their own little child' their kiddo.

Tragically, they never came back. It was only their dead bodies that did. It was a heart-aching time for them all. They had lost the most loved person. When reading the wills and other formalities, they had left custody of Kriya under Karan's name if anything wrong were to happen.

"But how can I look after her'?" Karan asked, confused, still not completely recovered from the shock of their death.

The lawyer replied back, "I'm sorry but that is what it says. If you do not sign the papers, Kriya will be left homeless and she will have to go to orphanage. There's nothing I'll be able to do then'"

There was no way Karan would let Kriya go to the orphanage. Yet, he was hardly in state of taking care of himself. How would he take care of Kriya as well? The question kept flashing in back of his mind. "I need some time'" he replied.

"You have until the end of the week." The lawyer replied. He then went sympathetic. "I understand it's hard for all of you to cope with this. But the sooner things are taken care of; the faster you all will be able to move on. You will have to at one point."

Karan nodded and left. The whole night, he kept on thinking about what to do next. He couldn't let Kriya end up in orphanage; but he wasn't ready to take responsibility either. It was a huge one after all. One he wasn't ready to take up by himself. He loved Kriya a lot but his duty as an agent would also keep him busy. How was he to manage it all together? He just couldn't figure out how to manage it all! He then made a decision'

Next day, he met up with Shilpa, who was just as concerned as him. Silence continued; till he finally blurted out. "Let's get married."

Shilpa was shocked. "What?"

"Yea, just think about it' I can't take care of her alone and I won't let her go to an orphanage either. If we're together, we can manage it all. Kriya will have loving parents as well and we were going to get married. So does it matter if it is tomorrow, a month later or today?" He explained without pausing for a moment.

"Karan' I' I can't' It's not that easy' I love Kriya too' I do' and I love you even more and want to spend the rest of my life with you' but not this way' not in this sense' not with selfishness for something else' I'm sorry' I don't think I'm ready to look after Kriya' she's hardly even 10' Karan' this'"

She was talking in complete puzzlement, going from one thought to another. She finally stopped and looked at Karan with a sorry look. The look explained everything that the words couldn't manage to. She knew what she wanted with life but this wasn't the way.

"We can still take care of Kriya without getting married you know'? When we are ready, we can get married. But now?" she asked with uncertainty.

Karan paused to think. "I guess it was too much to ask'" Shilpa instantly put her hand on his to stop him.

"No, you're getting it wrong Karan. Trust me, I want this too. But just not like this'"

"I understand' I was thinking about Kriya only' You must have dreams as well' something that I can't offer you now. If I have to choose between'"

Shilpa again stopped him. "This isn't about choosing between the two of us, Karan. I know you will never be able to do that."

"But I can't go on like this either' Right now, Kriya needs me more'"

"Then we call if off?" she exclaimed, her fears coming to live. This wasn't what she wanted at all. She wanted to be with Karan. She loved him the most and couldn't imagine her life without him. It wouldn't be the same!

Karan was going through similar things. "If that's your decision' I need you to be with me at this stage of my life Shilpa!" he pleaded.

She gave an apologetic look. "I want to be with you' But I'm not ready for it." She was on the verge of tears. Before crying down in front of him, she stood up from the couch and rushed out the door. And then, all the dreams crushed down then and there.

Not able to live with the guilt of not standing firm by Karan when he needed her the most, she soon moved away and broke all contacts with Karan. She continued to be part of the secret missions as an agent but decided to put her missions before her guilt and love for Karan.

Over time, Karan's love was tempted to turn to a bit of hatred as he kept on thinking that she left him because she got scared of little responsibility. He knew she loved him but somewhere along the way, he just couldn't help but question, 'Was it not strong enough?' If it was, we would've gotten through it. He seldom thought.

*Back to Present*

He raised his hand to throw the ring away but stopped. He couldn't. As much as he disliked her for doing this to him, the love for her was still strong' somewhere in his hear' it still was present' He had busied himself with Kriya and she had become his reason to live. As Kriya started to make sense of things and ask questions, he pushed all of Shilpa's thoughts and belongings away and made it seem to Kriya that Shilpa never existed. Kriya became his first priority along with his missions.

Kriya loved dancing and why wouldn't she? It ran in her genes' Her mother was a world famous dancer and Shilpa was a graceful dancer as well. Both the ladies were around her during her childhood; they seemed to have left an imprint on Kriya's heart. Dancing used to flow naturally for her.

Seeing her dance, would at times, anger Karan as it reminded him of Shilpa and at times, sad as it would remind him of Kriya's mother who treated him as her own son as well. It was too much for him to bear and soon, he had persuaded Kriya to not dance. As Kriya got busy with her studies and hectic training for an agent, she forgot dance and her passion for it as well. Other things just kinda took over.

Kriya parted ways from the group making an excuse that she had to meet the principal to finish her papers. It was true. She did have to meet someone; just not the principal. She quickly turned to move towards the canteen as soon as she saw them all disappear around the corner.

Entering the canteen, she stealthily walked over to the counter and put the paper forward. It had the numbers 733 written on them. As soon as Tambe saw it, he took it and put it in his pocket. Then nodding towards her, he turned to take other's orders. Kriya turned to leave as well.

Tambe knew how she looked like and that was all that was needed. He was the one to go to when some information needed to be digged in. Karan had sent in the replacement when they were coming here on a mission. That is how it was with them and their work. Everything was taken care of just before time with no possibilities of mistake.

The group entered the class and walked over to their seats. Rey took his seat and Swayam took his on the other side, leaving one open space in between. Sharon was about to sit on the other side of Rey. Just then, Swayam saw Kriya coming in the class. A devious plan formed in his mind. He smirked looking from Kriya to Rey and back to Kriya.

Seeing Sharon walking around Rey's chair, he grabbed her hand and pulled her down on the seat next to him. She was shocked with this dare of his. He couldn't figure out how he gathered the courage to do that either! She opened her mouth to yell at him when he shushed her.

"Shh." and then motioned towards the door. Sharon looked at the door and saw Kriya looking for a seat and then realized what Swayam had done. By making her sit next to him, there was only one seat empty in the whole room and that was next to Rey. She gave him one impressed look and looked down at her own book to avoid any more confrontations with him.

Swayam smiled to himself, glad to have one moment with her, even if it was just one impressed smile from her. It meant a lot to him.

On the other hand, Kriya looked around the room to find no other empty desk but the one next to Rey. She smiled and walked over to his seat. He was busy checking things in his cell phone and hadn't realized she was even in the room. She sweetly asked, "May I?" He was shaken back to the world around him and he looked up at the familiar voice.

The glow automatically turned up on his face seeing her in front of him. "Kriya!?! Wow, now same class too. This just keeps getting better!"

He remarked moving his books from the other desk to his own so that she can sit down. She replied just as cheekily, "Well what can I say? Turns out there is only one sit empty in the whole class."

He immediately turned to look at Swayam as the only empty seat had been next to Swayam and not him! Swayam was looking back to him and he winked. Seeing Sharon next to him, he figured out what Swayam had done and smiled back in gratitude. Swayam turned away. The professor came in and the class continued.

During lunch time, Karan finally walked in the college marking his presence. His looks definitely made sure he was noticed. The bell rang and while the students spread out in the hallway, out of class, he walked through. As expected, the girls stopped to stare and the boys stopped to see why the girls were staring. It was as if the hall way was cleared for him as everyone moved to either sides of it and he walked through the middle.

One of the students was Kriya, who rolled her eyes. She thought to herself. You just have to have attention wherever you go. As if knowing what she was thinking, he winked at her when he passed her as if to say: What to do? Just can't help it! Natural charm!

The boyfriends of those girls were definitely getting jealous! Two out of those boys happened to be Rey and Swayam. Sharon was no less impressed and that bothered Swayam obviously. Rey didn't like the way Kriya looked at him and then the wink that she got back in reply. He didn't know the relationship between them yet obviously. That became the sole reason he was getting jealous.

Karan went to RDX's office to meet him. They had formal introductions but in no time, both of them seemed to have turned into good friends. Around the same age helped in that matter of course. RDX concluded, "So yes, you will be the guidance counselor of students whenever needed and also basketball coach from time to time. All set?"

"As set as I'll ever be." Karan replied with confidence.

RDX continued, "So Mr. Armaan Mallik, welcome to St. Louis College. Happy to have you here."

"Glad to be here." He said with a grin, got up along with RDX and both shook hands.

And that was it. He was officially going to be in the college as well. No questions asked. Everyone would know him as Armaan Mallik and he would be their guidance counselor, which gave him an automatic access to all students files and had right to be anywhere in the premise at any time while the college doors were still open.

Just as he was about to exit the door, RDX stopped him. "Oh by the way, there's this charity event coming up. A group of kids are handling it and they're kind of the most known kids in college. Today, they're going to be deciding on the dance groups and all. If you want, you can take a look this afternoon when they meet?"

"Yea, I'd love that." Karan replied and nodded back returning the smile.

"Great, see you there then."

The final bell for the day rung; releasing everyone for the day. Coming out of their classes, the hallway filled up fast and emptied just as fast. Rey asked, "So, how was it for your first day?"

"Not bad actually. I mean first time in a college seems fun. It was good that you guys were here and I knew you all. Or else, I don't know if I would have survived it." Kriya replied. Swayam, Nilesh, Vicky and Sharon were walking ahead of them.

Rey replied, "Oh come on. Don't be so modest. If you can kick ***** of a bunch of real goons, then you would definitely walk through college."

Kriya laughed at that, making Sharon turn. "Rey, you coming? We have to finalize the groups today, remember."

"Yea, coming." He replied back to her. Turning back to Kriya, he said, "You should come too! Please? If you're not in a hurry to get somewhere, that is."

"Uh I dunno if that'll be a good idea. I mean I would just get in your way and I don't want to be a trouble." She replied unsure.

Swayam answered back, "Please, trouble for us? No way. We ourselves are a bunch of troublemakers. Come on, it'll be fun. You get to see how amazing of dancers we all are too." He added the last sentence, mostly pointing it towards Rey.

Sharon continued, "True. And we need someone to jot things done. I'm sure you can help us there."

She was convinced by now. Kriya replied, "Okay alright. I'll come. Just let me talk to Karan. He'll worry otherwise."

They all nodded. She walked a few steps away to call him. Meanwhile, Sharon asked them, "Karan?"

"He's like her guardian cum best friend. They both have come together." Swayam replied cutting the story in short. She nodded.

Towards Kriya, she quick-dialed his number. Just on the first ring, he picked it up. "Hey tiger how was your day?"

"Great," she replied. "I wanted to ask, is it okay if I stay back a bit?"

"Sure, have fun seeing their dance." He replied. She shook her head and turned to see where he was hiding. He came out from behind a pillar from the other side of the corridor and winked at her. She was glad to have him there.

"Thanks and yes, I remember." Saying so, she ended the call, still looking at him. She was quiet after that and Karan knew what she meant by 'I remember.' To explain in detail, it would mean that she remembered everything that happened and how he didn't want her to dance. In this case, it was a bit of an exception as she would have to dance when needed seeing that all of them were passionate about dancing.

Past past past! Heavy one 😆 It sorta reveals the reason for Kriya not dancing as well :D Hope you all like it!
