Roshni Chopra: "Some come here to be stars, the rest actors. I chose the latter."

INDIATIMES MOVIES

The sexy, sassy and suave Roshni Chopra made a quiet entry into tinselville with 'Just Enjoy'. Without a starry family, star friends or even starry dreams, the actress is here to be a part of the new movement in Hindi cinema.
A movement which makes place for more than 'just stars' in Bollywood...

Your debut film didn't give you reason to go hit the drinks bar...
"Doesn't matter - we were a bunch of ten friends who had great fun doing it. The fact that the film had a commercial release was the biggest surprise and reward for us."

You play a bitchy role in the film; how much of that streak do we see in the real Roshni?
"Yes, I have bitchy dialogues in the film, but by the end of it I sober down. I become a not-so-bitchy girl. I am not a bitch in real life at all. Ha, ha!"

So you're making a foray into Bollywood now...
"It has been a cakewalk so far. I never thought I'll get into films, though I've been doing theatre since the age of five. I don't even have a portfolio so far. If things show up, I'll get professional."

Any sex-tips from Jimi Mistry while working in 'The Guru'?
"No way! I didn't know it was an out-an-out sex comedy till I saw the film myself. And cinema has a way of making people seem larger than they actually are. If you take your doodhwala, remodel him and put him into the scene, he will fit just fine. At the end of the day, all stars are normal people. If I walk into a nightclub, I don't think I'll give most of our stars a second look, even if it is Jimi Mistry himself!"

Indian cinema is at its turning point and 'sex films' are the need of the hour...
"I think it's great that Hindi cinema is being sensationalised. With all that's happening, I hope the audiences watch it and get over it, once and for all. There will come a time when people will stop going to a film to see 14 kisses. Cinema is a fair game - may those who strike the right formula win."

Are you ready for skin show?
"Hey, I don't think it will last long anyways. I know skin is very appealing, but how long can you keep watching bodies and skin? Soon you'll want the real thing."

Bollywood calling....
"Firstly, the Indian film industry has to find its own name, rather than aping Hollywood. There's a movement happening outside the conventional boundaries of the Hindi film industry. New and younger breeds of directors, actors, musicians and technicians are brining in a fresh perspective to cinema. I want to be a part of that movement. Some come here to be stars, and the rest want to be actors. I chose the latter."
Let me know if this is a repeat, as it's probably not recent...if it is, I'll try substituting it with something else, thanks...
