CM's mission might backfire

CM proves herself to be a very nosy woman. But then I hope it might backfire. I am reminded of the interfering aunt in Pride and Prejudice who comes to Elizabeth (heroine) wanting her to promise never to marry her nephew Darcy. But instead that backfires on her and makes both of them realize that they love each other.

Your comparison to Catherine D'burough and Eliza is apt., but the only difference would be...she will ask this question to herself...not Shiv.,
