There are number of suggestions. All of them look unreasonable. Considering Yash was broken man and was throwing Arpita's memories leads me to believe that it has to do with his Arpita. In my opinion, Arti and Yash were intimate which has lead to this break down. I just don't see him punishing himself to this extent. Yash loses his cool only when it comes to his Arpita.
