But yes I'm willing to wait patiently and enjoy as the story flows
Amazing as always!

😃 glad you like it! Oh god I still need to update this!

I think Lavanya was just too scared to even say that much. But yes her telling them things properly could have really avoided all of this trouble. A few more chapters then redemption!
Thank you for your patience! And thank you! 😃 šŸ¤—

So erm yeh, sorry for the really really late update! This chapter was pretty difficult to write. I usually watch every Arshi scene over and over again numerous times, every one of them except for the ones from the terrace scene to the scene where Khushi gets thrown out of his room. They show too much heartbreak, too much hatred for me to take, so I avoid them. But the difficulty in actually writing this chapter up made me go back and watch them again. I'm still not too sure about the chapter and hope it's turned out well.

And of course before I forget, thank you thank you so much for the lovely comments and likes! šŸ¤—

Not too sure yet if I'll continue this FF here or will move this to just my blog too. But for now here it is 😊

Chapter 26 - Let It Burn

Arnav stepped out of the SUV, slamming the door shut behind him, his face almost manic in appearance as he kept his raging eyes planted on Shyams hideous face. "What the hell are you doing here?! You son of a bitch!" He hissed, taking a few more deadly steps towards him.

"What saale saheb? You thought I'd leave so easily did you? How could I let you and your pathetic sister win," he snarled, taking a step towards Arnav but Arnav was on him within seconds, his hands around Shyams colllar, his fiery brown eyes boring into him.

"How dare you?!" He gritted through his dare.

"Oh I can!" Shyam retorted, seemingly unaffected, "because Arnav, I have the love of the woman that you so blindly yearn for," Shyams features contorted menacingly as he watched the colour drain from Arnavs face, his fingers around Shyams collar slowly loosening their grip. Arnav glared incredulously, feeling as if he had just been hit by lightening, his whole world shaking in front of his eyes. "That's right Arnav, the only person that you love and she doesn't even love you back?" He cackled, "oh what a shame," his voice was mocking as Arnav suddenly let go, his fists clenched, taking a step back. He felt too helpless, torn, not sure what to believe anymore. "Does it hurt Arnav? To hear that the woman you have fallen head over heels for doesn't love you back?" He jeered, "oh and you think you are so smart, but what a pity," Shyam mocked as he took another step towards Arnav, holding himself inches away from him, and his molten brown eyes came upto clash with his, his jaw clenched in anger. The sudden urge to throttle Shyam right there suddenly clouding his mind. He maintained his gaze, his nostrils flaring, "oh is that right? And that's why Khushi got married to me?" He questioned, his voice controlled and to the point as he watched Shyams face.

Shyam wavered for a second, his eyes flitting to his whereabouts. What? His Khushiji had gotten married to this idiot?! He stepped back a little, taking in this new change of events. Shit! Had she gone off and ruined it all? Love birds! They were blind and never let plans unfold properly! But he wouldn't let them win like that! How dare they?! His mind traveled through every distant place and plan, calculating a new plan of action. What could he do now? Then all of a sudden looked to Arnav again, meeting his blazing gaze once more. His composure resurfacing. "Well well saale saheb looks like your little love bird is even more faster that I thought." Arnav glared back questioningly, astounded. What the hell was he going on about? "Oh I see Arnav, you still haven't caught on. Well let me explain," he stated calmly, bringing his palms together and rubbing them against each other. Then he started walking around Arnav, as Arnavs penetrating gaze followed. "You see Arnav, this was our plan all along. Why do you think she suddenly came back to you? All of those years she had gone without trying to make contact and suddenly she turns up all out of the blue? Didn't you feel that was strange?" He continued, walking in a circle, as Arnav turned round to watch him, his gaze cold and pained, as Shyam hoped that his plan worked, talking through the few things he had found out through Buaji and his own research. "It's just as well that you are equally as idiotic as your sister because you didn't catch onto our game. Arnav clenched his fists, gritting his teeth, "get to the point Shyam!" He growled. Shyam stopped suddenly, turning around to face him once more, "the point is Arnav," he spoke slowly, measuring his words, "Khushi is a changed woman, she is now in love with me! And all we needed from you and your sister was money. Khushis marriage to you was our plan all along," he stated as Arnavs eyes widened in shock and he stepped back, as if the Earth had given way underneath him. "And you followed our plan like a lost puppy!" He continued whilst Arnav looked on dumbfounded. He felt as if his will to live was gradually slipping through his fingers, he'd opened up to her, let her in, waited for her, would foresake anything for her but she was playing a game? Arnav felt his whole body go numb, the impact of words, of feelings too strong for him to withhold but he would not give in! A lot of things had changed over the years and his armour was now stronger, on that fateful day he had vowed to protect his sister forever and he would continue doing so, even if it meant hurting the woman he had fallen so hopelessly for.

Shyam watched patiently, letting his words hit Arnav one by one, watching his every emotion as it flickered through his face, but his reaction was too late, the sudden deadliness that over took Arnavs face being interpreted a bit too late. Shyam attempted to jump bag as Arnav pounced on him, his jaw taunt, his eyes the colour of rusty metal. "I'm afraid you don't understand Shyam Manohar Jha," he spoke through gritted teeth, his every word controlled and emphasised, "You do not make the decisions here!" His hands tightened around Shyams collar once more, his fingers nearly digging into the sides of his neck, "I make them!" Shyam tried to look away, Arnavs gaze too threatening, too devoid of emotions, almost inhumane in appearance, but the grip of his hands were tighter as he pulled Shyam closer, his nostrils flaring, his harsh ragged breath on Shyams face, "it's a pity you take me for a child Shyam! Playing a childs game! Did you really think that I was not aware?" Arnav questioned, a dark smirk spreading across his lips, turning Shyams words around, the confusion, the heart break, his pain all scurrying off to the corners of his mind as it streamed through his own plan of action. "And in the midst of all of your games, doesn't it feel like you've somehow lost?" Arnav questioned, mocking a worried face, "because from where I can see your brother-in-law has found out about your low deeds and your lover is now his wedded wife." Shyams eyes widened in shock as Arnav abruptly let go, shoving him away then appraised him with a look of dark humour, then pity, "somehow I fail to see how you've succeeded in your plan Shyam," he continued, flipping the scenario to his advantage, as he began to pace around Shyam, in the same manner Shyam had done only minutes before. "Because you see Shyam," he stopped abruptly to face him yet again, manically glaring at Shyam, "she now legally belongs to me, which means you cannot lay a finger on her." He took another threatening step towards Shyam, his gaze trained and steady as chipped rusty metal spheres bore into bewildered ebony black ones. "So I suggest you keep away from Shantivan, my wife, my sister and anyone else that may be related to me, because Shyam," Shyam took another step back as Arnav took another towards him, his gaze cold and unnerving, only to be grabbed by the collar again, "you know what I'm capable of," Shyam felt his muscles refuse to respond as Arnav grabbed his chin, his fingers digging into Shyams flesh, "so take your shit and get out of my house!" He exclaimed, yanking him buy the chin and shoving him to the side. Shyam stumbled away, struggling to break his imminent fall. "Security!" Arnav bellowed, taking a step towards Shyam as he now lay on the ground, "I want this man out of this premises right now!"

Khushi opened her eyes slowly, the bright rays of the early morning sun piercing through the large glass french doors. Her head felt heavy and throbbed, she put her hand to her temple, massaging it and that's when it all hit her, the events of the previous day. She sat up immediately, wiping away at now dried trails of tears, as she looked around the room. She was lying on his bed, her fingers immediately traveled to the other side which was empty, wiping over the fabric of the unruffled sheet. And then to the almost alien object that now hung around her neck and fresh tears gathered in her eyes once more.

It seems all of these words couldn't be further from the truth

How did I get here? What did I do?

He walked in suddenly to take in her fragile form, as her chest heaved at the effort of her tears and he felt the pain scorch through him like rubbing salt over a wound. He scrunched his eyes shut for a second, controlling his own breaking heart. Those tears weren't for him, they were for another man, another man who she now loved. He wished he had never met her, that this sodden saga had never unleashed itself upon his life.

Your eyes, telling me lies

And making me find myself

While you have your agenda, a life to pursue

So please,

Let me be free from you.

And please, let me be free

I can face the truth.

She felt his presence in the room and turning around her hazel orbs clashed with caramel spheres caught in a storm of fire and she felt her breath hitch in her throat. But he quickly broke his gaze and looked away, clenching his fists at his side.

She still affected him on a level that he would never be able to understand. The raw gash of a love he had once embraced, of hidden burdens he had only opened up to her about still eating away at him. Her soft hazel eyes, that could be almost golden in the bright light, how he had wanted to loose himself in the depths of them. And now how it had all come crashing down, how she had taken it all away.

I'm blind to all of your colors

That used to be rainbow then

My eyes, where did they go to?

Why disappear?

It's hard to be all alone

I never got through your disguise

I guess I'll just go, and face all my fear

He took a deep breath in, attempting to calm his raging emotions. He took the clothes his sister had given him and threw them on the bed, still refusing to look towards her. "Wear that! And come down in five minutes!" He barked, then turning on his heels stormed out, before words could escape her. She picked up the lehenga, the soft material of it slipping through her fingers as more sobs, loud and agonizing, racked through her body.

He slammed the door shut behind him, leaning against the glass of it as he slowly slid to the floor. He wanted to hate her, to seek revenge, to make her pay for all that she had done. But somewhere deep inside he knew he couldn't, for it was impossible to hate someone whom his heart loved so deeply. For the matters of the mind did not affect his heart and the fact that it had plunged head first into a desire that was too strong even for hate to subside.

Put down your world

Just for one night

Pick me again

So please,

Let me be free from you

And please, let me be free

I can face the truth

Thanks guys for all of the comments and likes.

Okay so first off, sorry again for the really late update. I just kept on forgetting, I don't even have any other excuse, I just forgot. So sorry about that. In this FF, Anjali's personality is very different. When I started watching IPK this is what I imagined her character to be like; not the dumb idiot that she actually ended up being. For a while I had started to sort of forgive her again until about two weeks ago when I lost even the tiniest little speck of respect I had left for her. As much as I would have liked to write her character in the same way, I just can't fathom a woman to be so stupid. I mean okay she doesn't have a sixth sense but does she have any sense at all? I just asdfghjkl! I just can't bring myself to make someone so blind and stupid.

So this is my version of Anjali; what Arnav deserves. A big sister that would look out for him in the same way he does. He's always stood by her side so when he falls down, she would help him back up again. So here goes :).

The chapters will be slightly shorter up until the prequel ends, which will be in two chapters ;).

Chapter 27 - Washed Away

~ You don't need water to feel like you're drowning, do you? – Jodi Picoult ~

"Dear God! Najaane wherez theze useless girlz find my nephew from," Manorama jeered as Khushi walked into the kitchen, the sari slightly loose at places, her feet still unsteady, her tears still only a breath away.

"Mamiji please," Anjali requested as she ushered Khushi in, her arm around her. She felt bad for the poor girl, there was something clearly wrong and she desperately needed to get down to the depths of it. She didn't know Khushi but Arnav did and he loved her, she knew that much. But their marriage had been conducted too hastily, she knew that her brother had a stubbornness that over-shadowed everything else and yet this was still very unlike him. There was something severely wrong.

Anjali was lost in her own distant thoughts when she nearly jumped out of her skin as Khushi suddenly yelped in pain.

Khushi had been too lost in her own inner turmoil when she had finally felt the pain, she appraised it's agony, the tears blurring her view of the raw bruise.

"Khushiji Khushiji!" Anjali shook her by the shoulders as she refused to respond. "Khushiji you're hurt!" She exclaimed almost dragging her towards the tap and opening the cold water onto her hand, whilst Khushi stood frozen, almost as if all of her senses had fallen numb. "Khushiji? Are you okay?" She tried again. Yet again gaining no response from Khushi she called out to the only person she thought could help, "Chotey! Chotey!" she screamed.

Arnav ran down the stairs, panic rising up his throat. What could be wrong now, was Di okay? "Di what's..." He stopped mid-sentence on seeing Khushi rooted to the spot, her eyes distant, tears dripping down her face, onto her sari and blouse and his heart went out to her, tearing apart once again in a way that he had never been able to control.

Anjali took in the shocked, crestfallen expression that took a hold of Arnavs face almost immediately, his concern speaking volumes. It was obvious that her brother loved this girl, she had only ever seen such concern in him towards her and now seeing that same emotion etched over his face towards Khushi, she was absolutely certain of his love for her. Then what could be this wrong? "Chotey? I don't think Khushi has eaten anything since yesterday. Can you take her upstairs please? I'll send some food up," she spoke softly, taking her brothers arm and moving him towards Khushi, at which point Nani also walked in.

Rage flashed through Nanis face as she took in the scene before her. "What the hell is going on here?!" She bellowed as three heads turned towards her leaving the other still distant and frozen to the spot. Nani appraised Khushis state for a second, taking in the shaken form of the young girl and she felt her anger bubble beyond control. "What is this Chotey?!" She questioned, walking towards him. "What have you done now? Do you even have any idea of your actions at times?!" She continued as he glared furiously back at her.

"Nani, it's okay just give it time," Anjali intervened but to no avail.

"No Anjali bitiya! It is not okay!" Nani screamed looking at both Anjali and Arnav in turn. "First he decides to marry that good for nothing Lavanya Kashyap and then breaking off from that marriage he goes off and marries this poor girl," she continued, her gaze now fixed on Arnav as he glowered back. "He doesn't consider any of the consequences, doesn't consider what he's putting her through, what he's putting her family through, what he's putting us through," she continued.

"Nani enough!" He yelled suddenly through gritted teeth as Nanis eyes flashed in anger towards him. Then running his arm around Khushi, needing to avoid Nani altogether, he began to walk her towards the stairs. Khushi turned her head towards him, snapping out of her reverie as his warmth engulfed her but he did not look at her and the taunt muscles of his face told her that nothing had changed. She continued to watch his features for something, anything towards her as she blindly followed him into the room and felt her heart sink once more. He had misunderstood and it looked like he wouldn't give her a chance to explain either.

Shutting the door behind him he flung her away from him, his eyes boring into her pained hazel orbs. She gulped, unable to digest his furious expression as his darkened caramel orbs burned with rage. "Hasn't your drama finished yet?!" He screamed, "is it necessary to make a f**king scene?!"

She stared at him dumbfounded for a second, "but Arnav," she finally managed to mumble.

"But what Khushi?!" He bellowed, taking a threatening step towards her as her feet automatically moved away from him. He grabbed her by the elbow, pulling her closer, his hot breath on her face as he glared down at her seething with anger. "Your drama hasn't finished yet?" He questioned as her eyes widened in shock, "do you have more lies to feed to me?"

"A.. Arnav," she stuttered, "I'm not acting," she spoke almost unable to understand that he would misunderstand her to this extent. "You've misunderstood me, you don't know the truth yet. Just please let me..."

"Please let you explain?! Right? Explain? Yeah right Khushi! So that you can make up a few more stories?" He fumed, his fingers digging into the flesh of her arm.

"Arnav you're hurting me," she mumbled through the tears, attempting to break away from his grip, her eyes pleading for him to understand her, to trust her.

"I'm hurting you?!" He exclaimed, pulling her closer, till their faces were only inches away, his jaw set with anger. "What about how much you're hurting me? How much you always have?"

"Arnav I can explain, if you'd just listen to me. Please," her voice was hoarse, quiet but he pushed her away to turn away from her this time.

"I don't want to hear it Khushi! Whatever you have to say I don't want to hear it!"

****

"Hello? Where are you? Aren't you coming home?" Anjali questioned. There had been something off with her husband lately, sometimes he didn't come home and sometimes he just disappeared suddenly. She had asked Arnavs manager Aman to hire a private detective to get to the bottom of it but nothing had been found as of yet.

"Arrey Rani Sahiba, I just had a few things to finish off at the office. I fell asleep here. I have a client to meet tonight in Mumbai so I won't be able to see you for a couple of days," he quickly spoke, forming his words quickly.

"But, you didn't even," she began, only for him to cut her off.

"I know Rani Sahiba but I myself only found out this morning itself. Okay I have to go now, I'll keep in touch," and with that he cut off the phone.

****

She lay on her side, silently sobbing. She still couldn't understand why Arnav wouldn't let her explain, he had never acted like this before. Even when they had been together all those years ago, he had always been reasonable. And now yes it was years later, yes the world had changed him, maybe her actions had too, but she deserved a chance to explain her side of the story. Only the day before they had been fine, she had been happy, so had he and within a couple of hours everything had been shredded to pieces. She didn't even know if Shyam was still alive and if she was being honest to herself she couldn't care less for that hideous man. She had been so happy yesterday, thought that their life that had been at a standstill for so many years would get back on track. She tucked in her legs suddenly, then attempted to still herself as she heard him enter the room. She needed to explain things to him, make him see reality.

Something always brings me back to you.

It never takes too long.

No matter what I say or do I'll still feel you here 'til the moment I'm gone.

You hold me without touch.

You keep me without chains.

I never wanted anything so much than to drown in your love and not feel your rain.

Arnav closed the door behind him, holding onto the handles and leaning against it for a few seconds with his eyes shut. He had spoken to Aman, he didn't want Shyam anywhere near the house. And di, he'd explain to her later, he couldn't tell her that her husband was a lying cheat just yet. But he knew one thing for sure, he would never let Khushi and Shyam be together. If she had told him, asked him, he would have happily let her go. His happiness always lay in her happiness but now it was too late and she had chosen the wrong man. She was no longer the Khushi he loved so much. She was a home-recker, a cheat, a liar.

Set me free, leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment in your gravity.

Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way way I'm supposed to be.

But you're on to me and all over me.

You loved me 'cause I'm fragile.

When I thought that I was strong.

But you touch me for a little while and all my fragile strength is gone.

He moved away from the door, his eyes falling onto Khushi almost immediately and he couldn't help but want to comfort her, his yearning for her still too strong. His love for her had always weakened his every resolution and it was threatening to the same yet again. He leaned over on the bed, his limbs moving of their own accord as he pulled the blanket around her higher, suddenly dropping the fabric he moved back, shocked at his own behaviour. What was he doing? He couldn't! He had to hate her! She wouldn't think twice before playing with his heart for another man, so why couldn't he hate her damn it!

I live here on my knees as I try to make you see that you're everything I think I need here on the ground.

But you're neither friend nor foe though I can't seem to let you go.

The one thing that I still know is that you're keeping down

You're on to me, on to me, and all over...

Something always brings me back to you.

It never takes too long.

He'd had enough, the Arnav within him would have to die, make way for the ASR because there was no place in this world for Arnav, he wouldn't be allowed to be vulnerable!

Okay so hope you like it ;).

Everything will be unfolded in the next chapter - sort of offering a closure to the Arshi issues in the prequel and making way for their reunion. ;)
