Even though it is usual for soap opera heroines to have a perennially hard time with everything, I was just thinking how crappy Sidhi's life really has been. Again, some of it has been her own (cvs) doing, but still:
- She fell in love with a very nice guy, and went through lots of turmoil and opposition from her family and his family about getting married to him
- Just as they were finally going to get married, the guy dies in a freak accident for no real fault of his or her. Extreme trauma
- Yet sense of righteuousness and duty brings her to serve the guy's mother, for whose sake she actually marries her fiance's much older brother, who hates her, doesnt really work, drinks and is lost in love n betrayal of someone elee for five yrs
- She marries him, brings him out of his darkness, falls in love with him, and generally makes everything right for others
- Yet she fights misunderstandings at every junction from her husband and others in the family, making their life better. Nobody really truly shows trust in her
- She fights for her husband in a false rape case, going to all kinds of humiliating levels, gets kidnapped, almost dies
- She's pregnant, has no time to savour it with her husband because of another fraud case logged by the same estranged ex-lover of her husband. she goes to jail, then is worried would lose her husband, and eventually is forced into a corner where she sacrifices herself to save him.
- Her super-loving husband is heartbroken but does not have enough trust in her to 'know' how she really is, and try to investigate real cause for sudden change in her behavior for NINE years. in fact he takes her spurning to heart and never wants to see her again for these many years. Also he believes shit lies from that ex-lover creature, who he knows tried to frame him and kill his wife
- She's suffered alone in jail for nine yrs, neither her husband nor her own brother and sister have bothered to see her. Her husband's mother for whom she made all the sacrifice is actually the most venomous for her. And her sister-in-law who knows a lot more truth than the rest actually says nothing because she is NOW happy in her own life.
- Worse, none of her two sons actually loves her or knows about her. Even when she gets out and is living with one of them, he's a total spoilt brat that never knew of and doesnt care about his mother. She is humiliated by her son, and the fact that he calls someone else his father and listens to him, and from the woman who effectively stole her son and kept with him for all this yrs as a grandchild for the sake of her own son. At least Kunal was living at home with his loving family and a son who can die for him. Sidhi actually is made to believe one of her children died and her husband does not care about the other and has married the same ex-lover witch because of whom she's suffered
- Sidhi is alone, does not have a career or family she could have had and is not loved by anyone inc her sons, and has been denied any decent chance of living on her terms because she married a guy whose ex-lover was obsessed with him.
Totally sucks to be her. She doesnt even get the sympathy and care/support Kunal gets. She's alone. Mahaan nari of EK's soaps
