He is perhaps one of the most popular and loved TV actors of current times and today he celebrates his birthday. Ram Kapoor plays a character of the same name on Sony TV's 'Bade Ache Lagte Hain'. The show remains hugely successful with the masses and has survived a leap in the plot. Also starring Sakshi Tanwar in a lead role, 'BALH' is a special role for all Kapoor fans. BizAsia takes a look at five reasons why Kapoor is so loved as a TV personality.
His Smile
The first reason has got to be that smile of his which is heart-melting to say the least. In 'BALH', Kapoor's character learnt to smile a lot when Tanwar's Priya was around. The smile has a cheekiness, a sense of familiarity and it's uplifting. Not many smiles have this effect but Kapoor's very much does! Be it the lop-sided grin or the full on laugh, you see Kapoor smile and all you want to do is smile too.

It has to be said that what makes Kapoor unique to TV is that he doesn't dedicate his time to more than one project and this makes him a little more bankable than most. He said in an awards ceremony that the producer of 'BALH', Ekta Kapoor, had waited for him and handed the role to him on a plate. He was before seen as host on 'Rakhi Ka Swayamvar' and also in the serial 'Kasamh Se' with Prachi Desai. It can be said that 'BALH' is a show he is currently exclusive too and this makes the show special for the viewers too. His aura would very much be different should he have been seen in many projects at any one time and therefore on our screens a little in overdrive.

It's virtually impossible to think of Kapoor and not be a deewana of his sense of humour. It's evident, especially in interviews or reality shows that he has been a part of, that he is a man who loves to enjoy laugh and make people happy. This is a quality that seems to shine through and it's difficult not to surrender to it.

In a day and age where physical image is everything, he is someone who – to put it as politely as possible - is a little on the large side but is comfortable in being so.
