Dabangg 2 Postponed, TALAASH to release Christmas?

More rumours.. this time it's a biggie! A source close to Salman Khan's Dabangg 2 unit says, the film could be postponed to March 2013.

While the news is yet to be officially confirmed, it does make a lot of sense. Prior to EID, director Arbaaz Khan had said "Dabangg 2 is almost 60 percent complete, we resume shoot after the promotion and release of Ek Tha Tiger".

Now, with less than 4 months to go for Christmas, and about half the shooting schedule remaining, the makers would be battling against time. If they set aside 30-45 days for post-production and marketing, they would be left with just about 2 months to wrap up the shoot.

Talaash – Dabangg 2

Considering the fact that the month of December is cramped with biggies, it only makes sense for Talaash to be postponed to Christmas. Currently scheduled for release on November 30th, the Aamir Khan starrer will face competition from Akshay Kumar's Khiladi 786, which is locked for release a week later on December 7th.

Again, IF the news is true, the following would be the ideal scenario for the industry

• Shahrukh Khan's next and Ajay Devgan's Son of Sardar release on November 13th and get 3 open weeks.
• Khiladi 786 releases on December 7th, get two open weeks.
• Aamir Khan returns to his super-successful Christmas weekend, which would make it much easier to recover the film's high costs.

Although Ajay Devgan has always been keen on releasing Son of Sardar for Diwali, he'd be better off avoiding the clash and releasing his film a week later. Both his film and Yash Chopra's next will have solo-releases.

"Dabangg 2 is not getting delayed" - Arbaaz Khan

Arbaaz Khan was in for a rude surprise when he woke up to the 'news' making rounds about Dabangg 2getting pushed to March next year. The delay was attributed to the film's shooting still being on as 40% of it is still remaining. It was also being stated that after Salman Khan and Aamir Khan deliberated on these changes, it was also decided that Talaash would now push ahead. This means that instead of its originally planned 30th November release, the film was now supposed to occupy Aamir's favourite Christmas slot by arriving on 21st December, the slot left vacant now due to (apparent) moving ahead of Dabangg 2.

"This is bizarre", says Arbaaz in a defiant role, "There is no change in plan and we are arriving as scheduled on 21st December. There is no delay in the film schedule's either and we are on track. Yes, 40% of the film's shoot is left but we have dates already allocated for that. In fact we resume the film's shoot in a week from now."

He is particularly surprised that Aaamir's Talaash came into the picture as well.

"I have no idea who is the gossip monger behind this. May be some idle mind is just playing mischief. We are on target and anything and everything else that you hearing are plain rumours. 21st December is final for Dabangg 2", he states.

Guess that should set the record straight.
