I remember, the last time I watched SGP in the morning slot was somewhere around March 2011. After this the only repeat telecast use to air was at 5 pm in the evening. ( I am excluding the repeat telecast between 12 am to 7am slot). Through this Star Plus gave hint almost a year back ago that this show is not doing well in terms of trp's. It's not just the case with Star Plus only, many other channels also do the same thing with their non-popular serials. Today some of the old serials of Star Plus like Pratigya , Yeh Rishta still have atleast 3 repeat telecasts in the day which shows that these shows are still going strong.
I guess the Bollywood fever has transferred to TV world also. This year, the two films which had the best content were Kahani and Paan Singh Tomar, but look which films became blockbuster - Housefull-2, Rowdy Rathod, Bol Bachhan 😡 - these films which had absolutely no content and were a curse in the name of comedy.
Similar thing has happened to TV world also or I must say Star Plus. In my view, SGP and Pratigya were the only two serials which had some real content in it. There fiction part was something that can be related to the real world. I agree SGP lost its shine in its last days but still the content was much better. But alike Bollywood, all other shows are gaining trp's even with a content which neither have a head nor the base.
I would like to believe that SGP was sacked because of low trp's- not because it didn't had the content or actors, but because people stopped appreciating acting skills and real content.
