oh yeah about the scared uncle wala part even I have a memory. I will tell you more about it in 5 minutes. Right now me in skype and doing combined studies with my friend :P rofl
Edit:
So when I was a kid, there was this uncle near to our home and I dreaded him. He was sweet with all the kids but I don't know why I was shit scared of him. For no apparent reason. So much so that whenever our Rikshaw crossed their home, and if he was outside I used to hide myself crouching back. He many a time tried to call me, get me chocolates and what not but I always ran away from him. Actually my bhai and all the kids of our locality were friendly with him and even my parents were his friends whatever. So one fine day he got pissed off, stopped the Rickshaw on the way back my home, and with the help of my co rickshaw mates, who were laughing, he pulled me out, literally carried me like a sack of potatoes over his shoulder, took to his home, dumped the chocolates he bought for me and made me watch TV with his mother. Forcefully. I hated watching that show. But who'd listen to me. Argh. I hated him. BTW I was studying first standard then😆

Ok..Shika dear... Please stop repeating this word! CHOCOLATE!
You are tempting me to spend all my bacha kucha money on chocolates! 😆
Sadly, I had no such uncle who showered chocolates on me ! *Sigh* But yeah I was always showered with lots and lots of never-ending lectures! 😳

🤣Oh by the way you asked me why I named the teddy erm you know what right?
Well, It is because I always wanted to name my teddy that but since my teddy is not brown but butterscotch in color, i named it Butterscotch and since this is fiction, I named Geet's teddy You know what.😆

I would strongly recommend you to play the song in Background :)

Chapter 2

Rehan played with his keys as he waited for Geet to come out. He honked the car, and heard a faint "Coming" from inside.

He sat on the bonnet of the car, parked before the road separating Handa and Khurana mansions, waiting for the princess to make an appearance.

"Girls" He thought with amusement "Why do they take so much time in getting ready?" he wondered and looked around only to have his breath knocked out of his chest the next moment. There was no Geet before him. Instead was a gorgeous girl in a one shoulder gorgeous golden evening gown, which hugged her curves and fell loose around her petite body, from her waist beautifully. The golden color of the dress complimented her complexion and the tiny embellishments on the gown glittered like stars, giving her a angelic glow. Her hair was made in a side bun, and she wore long earrings, leaving her elegant neck bare. In simple words, she looked like a fairy descended directly from heaven.

She smiled at him and slowly descended from the steps, making her way towards him managing the dress carefully in her hands.

"Rehan" she called him as she saw a dazed expression on his face.

"Who are you?"

"Rehan" Geet muttered perplexed. "I am Geet. What happened to you?"

"You aren't Geet. Tell me the truth where is my best friend? Did you abduct her?"

"Stop it Rehan" she said hitting on his arm.

"No, really what had happened to you? The Geet I know doesn't look like this," he said pointing towards her.

He saw her look at herself in bewilderment. The simple act made the earrings kiss her neck.

When she looked back at him, her eyes were confused "How do I look?" she asked him, biting her lip, conscious of herself.

"You look" he paused and took two steps back analyzing her "Breathtaking"

She gave a nervous laugh and ruffled his hair.

"You devil" he said chasing her, and picked her up from waist, twirling her, knowing that she is scared of that.

"Put me down. Put me down" she screamed amidst of giggles.

"Put me down Rey pleeeaaassseee" she said clutching him hard and closing her eyes, feeling her head spin.

"Alright alright" Rehan said putting her on her feet, chuckling. "Don't touch my hair again" he said, while she nodded her head vigorously, still clutching it with her eyes closed.

Just as he left her, he saw her sway and caught her shoulders to steady her.

"I uh my head is spinning" she spluttered the words as she blinked her eyes rapidly.

"Geet" she heard his voice soften as he made her face him. "I am sorry"

"It's okay. I am fine" she said trying to squeeze his arms but she found three pair of hands instead of one, due to the dizziness and she tried to catch the right most one, only to find herself caressing air, and nothing else.

Rehan watched her perplexed as she extended her arm. First he thought she's going to reach out for his hand but as he saw her extending her arm to somewhere to the right of his hand, he looked at her face in surprise and before both of them knew, they burst into laughter.

Geet threw her head back and laughed while he put his arms on his waist and chuckled.

"God Geetu, you are hilarious. Tell me how many sets of Rehans could you see?"

"Before three, now one" she replied while he pulled her cheeks.

"What'd I do without you Geet?"

"You'd get bored obviously without this free entertainment" she shrugged.

"True" he grinned before pulling her in a bear hug.

She smiled and hugged him back, closing her eyes, taking in a deep breath. She just smiled in content being in the arms of one of her best buddies who was there with her through thick and thin. She hoped against hope that he would be there with her always. She can't afford losing him but after today would he. . .?

She chided herself for even thinking on those lines. Nothing will happen today. People make mistakes so did she. She was sure she would be forgiven. But before that, she had to do some damage control and that she would do today.

She felt as if a weight was lifted from her chest, as she opened her eyes with a smile, with her arms still around him. She raised her eyes only to find a black BMW coming out of Khurana Mansion, which slowed down a bit when it was crossing them. She saw the glass roll down and she came face to face with a familiar set of eyes looking at her through the window.

She grew rigid as her smile froze on her lips. She saw Maan looking at her, and before she could blink, she heard the commanding voice of Maan, asking his chauffer to drive. She saw the car pick up speed and driven away soon, however, she couldn't miss the flicker of his eyes to hers for a brief moment which made her hands around Rehan go rigid as she pulled away instantly.

Rehan who didn't observe the tiny moment went on talking about something, while Geet kept her eyes downcast, counting the seconds until the car finally moved away from the premises, taking a heavy weight on her heart away with it.

She raised her eyes to look at the car, which now took a turn and went out of sight. She felt her shoulders hunch and her eyes closed on her own accord as she let out a sigh.

"Geet" she felt a hand on her shoulder and raised her eyes only to look at a perplexed Rehan.

"Where are you lost?"

She shook his head with a smile and it suddenly stuck her. Her bet with Ihina! Grabbing Rehan's hand she looked at the watch and let out a small yelp.

"We need to go to Ihina's place. Now"

"What is it?"

"Bet"

He stared at her for a moment before yelling "Run"

With that, they made a mad dash towards the car and got in.

"How much time left for us to reach?" he asked putting on his seat belt.

"Ten minutes thirty five seconds"

He looked at her, his eyebrows shooting up.

"Are you kidding me? In hell are we going to reach her place in ten minutes thirty—"

"Now ten minutes twenty two seconds left. Rehan GO"

"Alright alright, fifty percent of the bet is mine then" he said keying the car and hitting the accelerator.

* * *

The sleek black Mercedes stopped at Ihina's place as Geet and Rehan got down from either side of the car.

"I feel like I just am out of a roller coaster ride." Geet said catching her breath.

"And I felt like I lived in a videogame"

"Thank god that we reached in time"

"No fear when Rehan is here" he smiled "Anyway what was the bet about?"

"Ihina challenged that she'd get ready in thirty minutes"

"You got to be kidding me" he laughed "Knowing Ihina she might get ready till next valentine's day if you let her"

They both laughed and hi fived each other and were about to knock on the door, but to their surprise they saw the door open and there walked Ihina, in a midnight blue colored evening gown that seemed as if it is made for her slim figure.

"I am ready. Yippee! I won the bet" Ihina said throwing her hands in air while Rehan and Geet stared at each other and then at Ihina agape.

Rehan was the first one to come to his senses "Whoa! What's up with both of you? Goodness, tell me are you in any secret mission of seducing men tonight and breaking hearts"

Ihina rolled her eyes "Give a straight compliment jerk"

"At least behave like a lady today chicken legs, to go with your attire"

"Ladylike my ass"

"That's the issue. You don't have an ass"

"You—"

"Don't worry, stop that mindless dieting and I am sure someday you'd get one too" Rehan said sympathetically, placing a hand on Ihina's shoulder.

Ihina pushed his hand away and grabbed his collar "Say it again"

"Leave me you witch" he screamed while Ihina screamed back.

Geet watched her friends bickering and couldn't help but smile. She did feel a pinch somewhere watching them like this. After all, it is because of her that both of them stood where they are today. What would have happened if she haven't kept the card to herself last year? Rehan and Ihina would have been a couple by now.

Geet leaned against the door as she thought about it. When she first saw the card slipping through her book, she felt her heart go thud-thud with anticipation. After she read the card, she went numb for few moments but it didn't take her long to figure out who kept the card there. Rehan. Of course! She remembered how they were sprawled in Rehan's room with a sea of books all around them to complete their assignment that day, and how Rehan was bugging Ihina non-stop and many a time pulled her book to him. She was sure he misplaced the card in her book instead of Ihina's after all their books looked similar.

However the cognizance of all this didn't help her in passing the card to Ihina. For whatever reasons she couldn't let herself part from the card. She knew those words aren't for her. She knew, the feelings that are laid down there aren't for her. She knew she had no right in keeping that to herself but no matter how much she convinced herself of that, she couldn't get herself to go to Ihina, and give the card off to her.

She let her heart over rule her mind that day. She however tried, really did to get them to confront each other and dropped so many hints but both of them were busy fighting with each other like always.

She thought it might have hurt Rehan's ego. Of course, it would. By the time she realized her folly and regretted her actions, it was too late. She couldn't possibly get the matter after a month and she was sure Ihina would be thinking this to be one of their pranks, even if she did.

And so, she let the card be with her. And every time she saw the card, it pricked her heart, and guilt ate her. She felt wetness on her cheeks and wiped them off quickly before her friends could notice. She might not go back in time and set everything right but she would do the damage control. If that meant taking any sort of punishment from her friends, she was more than willing to do so.

Feeling a lot better than before, she made up her mind and squeezed between the fighting duo, who are short to pull each other's hair, and reminded them of their impending visit to the party.

"Alright alright" Rehan said his favorite lines fixing his collar "Get into the car and make sure this chicken legs would sit behind."

"As if I am going to sit beside you, stop dreaming jerk"

"You witch—"

"That's enough for today" Geet said putting up the best serious face she could manage "We are leaving now"

"Fine" Ihina hissed at Rehan's face before marching towards the car, getting into the car and banging the door shut behind her.

"She'd drive me crazy someday" muttered Rehan, emanating a smile on Geet's face.

"She already did" she muttered to herself.

"Sorry?" Rehan asked confused.

"Ah, nothing, so which disc are we hitting on this time"

Rehan smiled at it, "We aren't going to disc this time"

Her eyebrows furrowed but he cleared her doubts soon "We are going to Vicky's place"

"Our Vicky? As in Vikrant Khurana, your cousin?"

"Yep. He threw a party. You know right he got married a week ago. He and his wife Meera are throwing this party like a reception only for youngsters"

"But we—"

"It's a masquerade ball Geet" Rehan emphasized and soon enough got a twinkle in Geet's eyes.

At the very mention of it, Geet went dreamy. "Wow" was all that she managed to utter.

"Now will you stop showing those gooey eyes to me so that we can start for the party?" he said rolling his eyes.

"Yes, yes hell yes" she repeated squeaking and jumping like a kid and threw her arms around his neck and squealed "Thank you thank you thank you! I love you"

"I love you too sweetheart" Rehan replied patting her back, giving a lopsided grin.

The bungalow was bathing in moonlight as they entered. As they put on the masks that were given to them at the entry and entered the hall, a sense of immense joy embraced Geet. She took a golden mask with which had a black silver coin outlines, and black feathers at the side of it, and black metallic chains dangling at a side. As she put on the mask, she felt herself smile anticipating the night ahead. She felt a nervous excitement for unknown reasons as she entered the hall.

The moment they entered the hall, Geet fell in love with the decor at first sight. The theme was strictly red and white, with heart shaped balloons flowing everywhere. The gigantic chandelier hung high, glorifying the hall, while the aroma of jasmines and lilies burned her nostrils as she took in a deep breath. She saw Vicky and Meera standing close to each other, at the step of the stairs without masks and were lost in their own world, laughing away about something. When they reached to congratulate the newlyweds, she saw Rehan and Vicky exchange a brotherly hug and a pat as she and Ihina smiled and shook hands with Meera. They already met Meera on several occasions and found her sweet. Vicky on the other hand was practically a part of their childhood gang, since Vicky always spent his summers with them, in Khurana Mansion.

"Congratulations" Geet squealed as she gave him a quick hug.

"Uh who's this beautiful?" Vicky feigned ignorance, but his smile gave away that he recognized her.

"I am the one who knew who your first crush is and who knew what all you did to impress her" she said nonchalantly knowing that this bomb would jerk him out of his so called ignorance.

"Oh Geetu, of course how can't I recognize you. I was just—" Vicky gabbled only to be cut off by Meera.

"Who's the girl?" Meera asked suddenly interested.

"Ah she was just kidding. Weren't you?" Vicky pleaded with his eyes.

"Nah. I was saying about Sunaina. You don't remember her? Back then you used to say that you love her hair the most, those thick and long mass of hair and you even compared her with Rapunzel"

"Rapunzel?" Ihina gave a snort of a laugh "Dude, you knew Disney princess' name? Now that is amusing"

Geet saw Meera check her own hair which just fell till her shoulders, and saw Vicky's face, who seemed as if he was about to cry, and Geet tried hard not to laugh.

His facial expressions changed dramatically with every passing moment and Geet saw with amusement as it treaded on the boundaries of confusion, irritation and annoyance, mixed with a pinch of dread.

"Why don't you go have some fun? The dance floor is already open" Vicky suggested, shooting daggers at her.

"Sure sure" Geet grinned.

"But—" Meera started.

"I will tell you someday about Sunaina. Don't worry" Geet waved to Meera and gave a quick hug and spoke in her ears "Sunaina was his class teacher. Maintain ignorance and have fun" She parted from Meera and gave her a wink, and saw the lady smile back at her, her eyes showing the relief.

Geet smiled back, feeling extremely joyous. What else can make you happy more than being the reason for someone's smile? She slanted a glance at Rehan and Ihina and found them giving quick hugs to Vicky and Meera. Ah! She can't wait to see them together!

* * *

There was something about anonymity, Geet thought. It is said that people listen to their heart and do what they otherwise won't when they're anonymous. We often put a mask in front of society— not the mask she was wearing now; instead it was a mask of hypocrisy, a mask we adults put up. She sighed as she thought of the joys of childhood. No restrictions, no fears, children are what they want to be. They live and do things on their own accord. She swirled the contents of her glass in an unconscious act as she thought about it. Now, in this night where anonymity was provided by a simple mask, she saw people laughing their hearts off, enjoying with people they don't know or don't recognize without a care in the world. A simple mask helped them to remove a virtual mask. How ironic! She fixated her eyes to the dance floor and watched the couples sway to the music. She sipped her orange juice as she was watching people enjoy themselves to the fullest.

The citric flavor touched her taste buds and she closed her eyes involuntarily giving a happy sigh. "Bliss" she moaned as she took another gulp.

The air around her seemed mystic, with everyone in masks, dancing away to soothing music, while the hall looked nowhere less to heaven. She wouldn't be surprised if she saw two tiny fairies floating in the air now. She gave another happy sigh and sipped her orange juice.

She loved Valentine's day. She really did. She loved the celebration of love.

Her eyes went dreamy as she closed her eyes and sipped the drink, wondering how it would be to be loved, fantasizing how would it be to have a valentine herself,. Valentine, that word stirred something in her and she suddenly remembered something; a picture from today morning.

Her supposed to be valentine.

She choked on her drink as she felt it go through the wrong pipe. She coughed vigorously as tears made their way out of her eyes.

God, even the mere thought of him seemed to scare the shit out of her.

She suddenly felt someone snatch the glass from her hand and thrust a glass of water in her hand instead. She took large gulps of them, as she felt soothing pats on her head.

She then found paper towels extended to her. Taking them, she pressed them to her lips closing her eyes, taking large gulps of air.

When she faced her savior to mutter a thank you, she blinked her tears and tried to look properly. She felt one of the disco lights that was directed to her eyesight blind her vision, and as she blinked, she slowly felt someone's face coming into her vision.

She saw a tall man, who wore a golden mask that covered almost all of his face till his nose. His hair, which was gelled, fell slightly on his mask. She peered at him closely, found a small frown on the forehead of his mask, and tried hard not to laugh. What was the manufacturer thinking, putting up a frown on a mask? But it amused her that he still chose this mask. Did he like frowning in general? She thought as she smiled inwardly. Her gaze travelled down to where the mask stopped, near his lips. As only his lips were visible in his face, she couldn't help but notice them. She wondered if he chose that mask deliberately to draw attention to them.

She closed her eyes and gave a mental whack to herself. She'd become a pervert. What was she looking at, ugh!

"Are you okay, Miss?" she heard a deep voice and raised her eyes to meet his gaze.

"Yeah, I am fine thank you" she replied with a smile.

He grunted and took a seat beside her, and ordered a drink for himself, while she sat at the counter, again looking at the dancing crowd.

She caught a glimpse of a midnight blue dress girl dancing with a white shirt guy, and she peered closer with a thudding heart.

Rehan and Ihina!

She might have pumped her fists in air and jumped like a little girl if not for the pointed heels.

Now she looked at the dance floor, with her face in her hands, with a smile on her face. She saw a change in the music and her heart skipped a beat. It was a song from Hritik Roshan's movie. This day seemed to be her day, she thought as she clapped her hands merrily, but she saw it was a couple dance now.

She wondered why was the probability of playing your favorite songs would be more the moment you step out of the dance floor? Sadist DJ, she concluded as she looked at the dance floor with longing.

"I want to dance, I want to dance, I want to dance," she murmured as she fidgeted with her hands.

"I want to daaannnccceee" she whined.

She heard someone clear his throat and found the same guy who helped her standing beside her.

"Can I have this dance?" he asked her.

She sprang on her feet with a big smile and was about to take his hand but stopped as something stuck her.

He heard her and hence was asking her. She bit her lips as she thought how would that look. What would he had thought? That she might be flirting with him and throwing signs at him?

She hesitated but as she looked into his eyes, she saw sincerity in there, and for some reason she blurted out what she wanted to.

"I didn't mean to sound like that"

"Like what?"

"Like" She said chewing her bottom lip "Like as if I wanted you to hear me"

She saw him tilt his head to a side and look at her curiously. "I love Hritik and hence wanted to dance for the song" she clarified.

"Okay"

"And I was not flirting with you"

She saw the corners of his mouth twitch as he replied "Of course"

Of course? Now what would that mean? Of course you were, or Of course I know? Why does that sound negative? Or was she simply over thinking? Babaji!

"Now that we cleared that," he said and extended his hand to her.

She was about to stretch her hand but then again stopped and looked at her shoes.

"Uh if I step on your feet or my own dress by mistake, it is supposed to be by mistake"

She saw him cross his extended arms at his chest and she mentally whacked herself.

What has gotten into her? Why was she blabbering today? Can't she give her hand and get done with it? She wanted to kick herself. She wondered whose face she saw early in the morning that she was behaving all weird.

The next moment she remembered Maan again and involuntarily shuddered. Ugh, she should censor her thoughts henceforth so that she would stop thinking about him and get a heart attack.

"Uh huh" she heard him clearing his throat and as expected he was observing her, with his head tilted to his side, and his lips curved into a small smile.

"Are you done with your terms and conditions then? Am I getting a dance tonight?"

"Sorry, I mean yes of course" she said extending her hand to him.

She saw him smile at her before taking her hand in his and leading her to the dance floor.

* * *

As his one hand rested on the small of her back, and the other one engulfed her tiny hand, her other hand rested on his shoulder, they swayed slowly to the music. She hummed the song slightly, moving her head to the beats, enjoying it thoroughly.

"So you like Hritik?" she heard him ask and raised her eyes to look at him.

"I love him. Truly madly deeply"

Okay, now she spoke too much. She was sounding like a hero worshipper who's absolutely obsessed about a hero and want to jump his bones. Lord!

"I didn't want to sound like that" she said biting her lips.

He twirled her around, bought her close, and leaned in to whisper in her ears "Like what?"

She felt his hot breath tickle her, and she tilted her head slightly as she spoke "Like a love sick puppy"

He turned her again and now her back touched his chest. Placing his hands on her belly, he spoke in her ears "So are you not?"

His voice was gruff and throaty, and she involuntarily gave a shudder "No" she whispered back, as she felt her head fall back on his shoulder.

He moved her hands over her waist and she closed her eyes shut as she felt goose bumps on her skin. She slowly turned around to face him, as he put his hands around her waist. Her hands went around his neck without her own knowledge as she looked into his eyes and swayed gently to the music that surrounded her. She heard the song coming to an end and slowly detangled her hands around his neck. She would have moved away but his hands on her waist stopped her. When she was about to open her mouth to say something, she heard a change of music and she stopped before even she could start saying something.

He saw her look at some point over the roof as she gave a happy sigh and closed her eyes.

He felt her go still in his arms and slowly took her hands, which were hanging by her side in his hold and put it on his shoulder while the other one was in his grip.

She looked at him while he simply smiled at her as he took the lead.

"I take it you like Shahrukh Khan too" he said while his voice dropped to a mere whisper.

She smiled and shook his head at him "I love this song." she said "Very much" she added.

She looked around them and he followed her gaze only to find all the couples lose themselves in the music, dancing closely.

"This song is magic" he heard her whisper and looked back at her eyes which are twinkling in the dim light.

He didn't ask her why, he knew somehow that she would explain herself.

"This song has an underlying melancholy to it and there is a beauty in melancholy don't you think?" she asked as she tilted her head to a side.

"As Rajesh Khanna in Anand movie said, udaasi khubsoorat hoti hain" she let her words trail off as she looked at some distant point. She thought to stop her ramblings, wondering how stupid they might sound to him, but his voice rung in her ears now, surprising her.

"And as backstreet boys said sadness is beautiful, loneliness is tragical" he added, making her look back at his face and smile.

She heaved a sigh as she continued "This song gave me goose bumps," she said "I liked the character Shanti very much. Who wouldn't love her? She carried an air of mystery and melancholy. Being a superstar, she still was down to earth. And Om" she paused now her face bearing a soft smile "He was a common man, who had dreams like everyone and his dream was Shanti. He loved her and spending an evening with her would be no less than a dream for him, and when he got a chance to be with her, for one evening, how must he have felt?" She asked looking into his eyes and he could see the thin moisture in her eyes "That one evening he wanted to make special for her. I wondered how can he make it special for she can get whatever she needs, with just the wave of a hand. What would he— a mere junior artist, can do to make it special?" He saw her eyes downcast, hooked a finger down her chin, and lifted it gently to look into her eyes.

He was right, he saw tears trickle down from the corner of her eyes, and roll down through the mask "But" she said gulping back the bile that rose in her throat, and he could see the effort she was putting up from keeping her voice straight "But he did make it special. He made her smile, no matter how short the duration was. Could you see his eyes at the end of the song? How he extended his hand to her?" She said and she felt his arms around her tighten as a response.

She paused as she let the words trail off from her mouth "Why is life so unfair? Why was his love unrequited?"

She bent her head and remained silent for a few moments. Finally lifting her face up, she smiled "Sorry, got some emotional."

He didn't answer rather just gave her a tiny nod and twirled her around.

When he bought her back close to his chest, she whispered "You might be thinking, I am a nut case. Don't you?" she asked turning her head to look into his eyes.

His lips were pressed into a thin line, and he replied in a curt voice "No"

She smiled at him and replied "I know you do."

She felt her body jerk around with a force as he bent his head and whispered near her lips "I don't"

She felt those two words like a command and as she looked into his eyes, for some reason he saw something familiar there. Rage?

"Why not?" she whispered as she suddenly felt an undeniable urge to prove him wrong. She didn't know why but his answer was disconcerting. Why will he agree to her mindless musings and blabbering without another word? Why should he? If he laughed at her or at least waved her off, she wouldn't have minded. But why does he agree to her? Especially when she knew that she was sounding insane? And she, why will she share something personal with him, knowing that she might not meet him after today?

"Why won't you? I was speaking utter crap and got emotional for no apparent reason. I don't even think the film makers would be so concerned about such a silly thing. You should laugh at me" she gabbled nonstop only to be stopped by his rough hold on shoulders which pulled her closer to him.

"You asked me if I knew how he'd have felt that evening right?" He bit out near her face as she stared into his dark irises unblinking "I do." he replied loosening his hold. She stared at him with a thudding heart as he carried on. "He'd have wanted to do everything he could to make her feel what he feels for her. He might have wanted to do something just like he had imagined a million times in his dreams, he might have wondered how would it be to finally live your dream and to have her in his arms. In short he would have felt like —" he paused and stared at her face while her heart thudded with an anxiety. She didn't know what he would say but she had a gut feeling that whatever he would, would change everything. He leaned forward as he completed his sentence now "me".

As soon as the words escaped his lips, she grew rigid. She felt her heart skip a beat as his hands slowly travelled through her arms, to hold her hands, only to be pulled closer.

"Unrequited love" he whispered now staring at their entwined hands "I exactly know the feeling" He now looked into her eyes as he completed "After all …" he let his words hanging in mid way as he continued to stare at her.

She felt as if the land below her feet slip and she involuntarily stumbled back only to be caught by his dexterous arms around her waist and be pulled closer so that she nestled into his chest.

They say that women have the ability to judge the intentions of the man through a simple touch. His touch wasn't uncomfortable but somewhere she felt a small flutter as his hands moved over her body. She had only heard and read about butterflies in stomach but now experienced them. As his hands grazed her arms, she could feel every motion of his fingertips on her in perfect sync with her thudding heartbeat. She felt tingles on her skin, on the path where his hands travelled. As his hands closed over her tiny fists and pulled her closer, taking her hands up and locking them around his neck, and his own hands moving around her waist to lock around her waist, she felt her heart beat so loud that he could be able to hear it.

He slightly pulled apart from her and hooked a finger below her chin to lift it, to make her look into his eyes. She hesitated, and closed her eyes but the gentle blow of his warm breath and a soft cooing of his throaty whispers saying "Open your eyes" made her flutter her lashes and look into his eyes. Everything seemed to happen in a slow motion as she felt everything except him blur. She felt as if only she and he were present, she could hear her thudding heartbeat and the music faded away. She saw him leaning towards her and involuntarily closed her eyes in an unknown anticipation.

She felt his breath fall on her lips and felt his own lips hovering around, just few millimeters away.

"Geet" she heard his throaty whisper, which made her eyes snap open. Only then did she understood what she was about to do and as a reflex action pushed him away.

He staggered back and looked at her perplexed while she closed her mouth with her palms.

"Geet" his husky voice, which was no longer throaty, and which was now familiar was the only thing that reverberated in her ears now as she looked into his eyes and finally recognized the person behind the mask.

"Maan" she whispered taking a step back, as she felt the truth finally dawning on her. And that was when she turned her back to him and ran.
