Ever since II6 has started, I was noticing a trend that i thought would taper off hopefully and was just a flash in the pan but it keeps growing every day. And that is commenting on the eating habits or size of a contestant...either about Kaushiks 24 eggs eating habit or now routinely on Vipul's size...What the hell is the matter with these guys and that includes, Asha Bhosle (after her behaviour this season vis a vis OP Nayyar and other issues...lost the desire to put ji next to her name), Hussain, Mini and today Sonakshi...Sonakshi says please exercise daily...a case of the pot calling the kettle black? Hussain routinely targets Vipul...last gala was with Salman and today with Sonakshi...I mean these guys don't have the basic decency of knowing not to comment on anyone's size? How offensive can these idiots get?

I found that horrible as well, I noticed even Indian award shows make fun of things that are sensitive topics (such as Boman Irani and Ritesh making fun of the young actors teeth in Taare Zameen Par and of Shahrukh's acting in My Name is Khan- like autism is something to laugh about and so funny?! SRK even laughed.)

I think it's a bit of a cultural thing, no offense. There is less a concept of self esteem in the East but this has its benefits and losses.

Ya.last week I thought they r doing it for fun to take tips from Salman sonce he has a greart body. But today I felt it offensive when they repeated it. And what were those tips from Sonakshi that 1 ghante gym jaya karo, exercise karo. Is she some fitness guru? But on the first note who has given these anchors or judges the right to make fun and talk about somebody's physical characteristics. Can't they find somerhong better if they wanna have light hearted moments?

I really disliked today's show because of how they were making fun of Vipul. It always seems that whoever scripts these type of shows, awards shows or music reality shows, doesn't have the commic brilliance to think up something worth laughing at so they stoop so low and use physical or sometimes mental attributes of people and make fun of them. They have no regard for the people targeted and what that sort of behavior can do to their self esteem. It's not just the shows. Think about the whole concept behind the Golmaal films. People with speech problems don't just run around going " eeeh,, ooo" all day and to have the disabled mocked is rude. I think acts like this are just symptoms of a bigger problem of how people with physical issues or disabilities or anyone that has anything a bit different about them is treated. Today, they made fun of Vipul's weight. Even Salman Khan who i love as an actor, sort of made fun of a reality show contestant's speech problem on saregamapa 09. A heavy set contestant had her weight made fun of by Shaan on SVOI. When will this end?

So it is a requirement that contestants be mocked? In the gala stage, contestants should be educated about how they can improve as singers, after all last time i checked this was a show that was looking for a singing idol. Whether these contestants are good enough to be called idol is another subject entirely. Personal appearance is important to, that's true but it seems more like the channel is using the overweight for laughs. I doubt people at Sony or anywhere else cares enough about these people to coach them on appearance, they use them as laughing stocks, that's it. These jokes don't fair well anywhere else, one time, Simon told a contestant on American Idol she needed to lose some wheight and he was torn to shreds by the media about it.

I have noticed this too. It's so embarrassing to have people and even film stars do this on national TV. It can be a huge blow to self esteem. But Indian culture is tactless. My American friend is 38 and unmarried, when she travelled to India women told her they will pray for her since she is old and single. Even education has not brought tact in our society.

While in the US people don't say this to their faces, being overweight is taboo in some areas and can define success in the workplace. Instead of focusing on the person, the focus is on physical appearance more now than before. It was clear that Vipul was caught off-guard by Salman's comments. Salman's himself is so stiff and walks like a log. Sonakshi looks much much older than her years and cannot be paired with young actors.

Dharmeder told Vipul you should win the other are just little boys...he showed no consideration for other two contestants...what an uncouth arrogant remark.
