Today's episode was a huge shocker. Little did we know that the light moment we were enjoying would pave the way for such a huge storm, a storm for which we don't even know the reason! Yash acted unforgivably with Aarti once again and let his anger get away with him in the precap. It really made my heart sink to see Yash descend into the state of blind rage last seen at Palak's birthday party, except this time it was even worse because then we at least knew Aarti's crime (though it didn't absolve Yash, it at least gave us a reason for his rage). Here we have no clue what the reason is.
And of course, the only thing left for us is to speculate, so I am going to take a look at all the loops that were left open in the Mumbai trip that could have led to Yash's relapse (because this is definitely an illness!) over the past few days. Although the major loop of Yash learning to live and laugh again was closed in the dance, there was much more to come, when we got this abrupt cut to four days later.
I don't think it is Yash overhearing the phone call between Aarti and Gayatri because the reaction being four days later was a bit too delayed in that case. So barring that I am going to look at all the open ends that were left without closure and offer possible hints.
1. The Pub It was pretty clear that Yash went to the koli festival and began dancing with Aarti because he felt bad about the way he had spoken to her. He admits that he shouldn't have been so clipped and rude to her and regrets his behaviour, so he makes it up to her by dancing with her, and then starts enjoying it himself. He acknowledges Aarti's efforts and thanks her for teaching him how to live once more, promising that she will see laughing, joyous Yash from now on. To me that suggests that perhaps he actually apologised for his earlier behaviour and took her to the pub on her request. What happened once they got there and after, may be part of why Yash is so furious.
2. Lakhan
So what happened there? I think that Lakhan pretty much has to have something to do with the whole thing because they introduced him but did not take his character past that first interaction with Yash. Something must have transpired in the four days that related to him and his history with Yash.
3. Aarti's Diary
The minute Aarti wrote her feelings in a diary, it was pretty obvious that it was for the express purpose that Yash would get his hands on it, which he almost did that very night. His curiosity to see what was inside it was already established and were he to cross paths with that diary again, I think it would be natural for him to open it and read its contents. Aarti already anticipated that if Yash should read what she had written, all their fun would be over in a second, and they would be headed back to Bhopal thanks to Yash's anger. Did her fear come true? Did Yash read the diary, learn of her feelings and her promise to Gayatri and freak out?
4. Prashant and Aarti's Lie
Even though Prashant has not been mentioned at all, they invoked him very vividly with a reprieve to the scene where he proposed to Aarti. It seemed to highlight the fact that Aarti was not thinking about Prashant at all because we couldn't think of anything else at that moment. Also, the song sequence today seemed to hint at it as well where there was a play act of a lady being left by her man and Yash reassuring her that she would find her true love. He then rejoined her with the guy that left... I thought that was a pretty clear reference to Aarti's past but I am not too happy about what it looks like Yash's role will be. ๐ I could be reading too much into this but, it was there for the reading. Finally, Shobha is there at the Dubey's so very conveniently when Aarti and Yash get there. I found that suspicious in the context of all the hints.
5. The Kids
The last we saw of them, the kids were very significantly dancing with their step-parents. Palak and Payal were dancing with Aarti and Yash was dancing with Ansh. Through out this whole trip we have seen Ansh taking Yash's side and Yash gravitating towards Ansh. What has happened to cause the rift as we see it at the door? Ansh is with Aarti and the girls are with Yash, standing as two very separate entities. What happened to draw this line between them once more when the last glimpse of them was as one happy family, with no lines between birth and step parents? Also, Ansh and Payal give each other a very dirty look as though there is a lot of love lost between them. What made Ansh rush back to his mother's side? That kid is very perceptive about these things, and very protective of his mother, so I have a feeling he knows something Aarti doesn't.
6. Arpita's Portraits
The CVs made a big hue and cry about the portraits through that very symbolic promo and they have not really brought the focus to them explicitly, which seemed to be one of the promises of the Mumbai track. Yash did feel torn between the two, but only vaguely in the moments we saw. When he shouted at Aarti about the pub, it was Aarti he felt guilty about so we didn't really get to see the Arpita backlash we expected from him. Plus the last time he got in such a rage was regarding her memories. Last time he was upset with Aarti for tampering with them, but also with himself for falling for it. This time Aarti has done nothing of the sort, so if he is punishing her for his transgression/betrayal of Arpita, that makes his behaviour all the more horrible. If Yash doesn't grovel this time and actually change his ways after he does, I will lose a lot of respect for the character.
7. Teej
Gayatri mentioned to Aarti that it was Teej, and SP was sure that she was going to keep a vrat and do pooja wherever she was. It is interesting that they landed up at home on that very day and may carry some significance...
So these are all the loops I can think of that were left open when the story jumped from a happy, dancing family to an angry, abusive Yash and a completely befuddled Aarti and family. My two cents worth of speculation.
