I have read several topics and comments where fans are upset over the fact that Arnav stands up against Dadi and protects Khushi but at the same time he doesn't say anything to Mami. I am not here to questions those comments and opinions but merely here to try and explain what I feel on this topic. There are several reasons as to why Arnav never seems to correct Mami and stop her from verbally taunting Khushi.
1. The fact that although Mami is married to his maternal Mama and Arnav doesnt think that he has the right to argue with Mami as she is not blood relation. Mami is also Akash's mother and maybe he is waiting for Akash to stand up against her like he did when he wanted to marry Payal.
2. Mami is like a dog that barks and never bites. She is always only taunting verbally but not to the extreme that it can leave a lasting impression. What she is saying is nothing compared to women who subjects other women to day in and day out. So what if she calls Payal and Khushi with nicknames - believe me there are much worse nicknames out there family members give each other. For me so far she hasn't crossed the line as of yet.
3. Arnav is also not saying anything to Mami because I remember seeing a scene where we found out that Mami was the one who financially helped Arnav so that he can finish his degree and start his own company. Arnav in that gratitude will always be grateful towards her and never be stern with her. He also knows that Mami can easily be intimidated by anyone who is strong enough to speak up to her.
4. Arnav standing up for Khushi against Dadi is a whole different ball game. Dadi, for one, is a woman who raised him and he knows how intimidating and hurtful she can be. He knows that she is set in her ways and wont give up on her status and power within the family. Mami is a dog that doesn't bark but sure as hell bites. Those people are much harder to handle and needs to be taken a stand against.
5. Dadi is Arnav's blood relation but also left them all when they needed her the most. She abandoned them at their most vulnerable state and Arnav doesn't feel any obligations to agree with whatever she says because of that abandonment.
6. Whenever Dadi argues with Arnav about Khushi she brings up the past and even speaks bad about his mother which in turn Arnav gets really agree. We have all seen how much Arnav loves/loved his mother so calling her weak will trigger his rage.
7. Arnav knows that Khushi can take care of herself against Mami because she really is harmless compared to Dadi. Khushi will never speak up against Dadi as she is the eldest of the house thus deserves to be respected. Plus as a daughter-in-law she will be accused of not having values and respect towards the elderly if she did indeed say anything.
