.Shona. is making me make this topic cause if you didn't know I am Manu ki deewani.
But can we talk about Maanvi for a minute? Has there ever been a more well written character than her? Has there ever been a more flawless actor than Nia????
From the time I started to watch the show till now, Maanvi has remained my most favorite character, not just from this show, but all shows I have ever watched. She has been one character who has stayed in character while shown to grow up as well. From the bindaas sherni of Rishikesh to someone suffering from cancer to now love-struck, Maanvi. She has played each phase of her life with so much conviction. I always say, whatever is Maanvi feeling, you end up feeling the same when you watch her. When she's upset, I end up getting upset too and if she's happy as she's been in the last few episodes, despite having bad days, I end up being happy too. Her emotions are so contiguous that you end up feeling them as well.
Everything about her is so unique, so unseen on Indian television. Her one liners, esp. in the last few episodes cracked me up from her "Hawww Kissy???" to "Husband ka matlab hus hus ke huski band bajana".
EDIT: Maanvi is not perfect in any means. She has flaws. She has an ego. How many times has she messed up and created trouble? She's outspoke and at times, comes across as rude. And when she's angry, god save everyone around her. But she's real. She's honest. She has insecurities. She has fears. And she loves like nobody else does. Be it her love for her Di or for Virat. She gives it her all. Her love for everyone around her is unconditional. She loves without questions. Her ego takes a step back when it comes to those she loves. Often in love, we become selfish but she's the other way around. Her love is her worship. She can go to any extent for her love, she can give everything up for those she loves. Her Di can kick her out of the house and without questions, without getting angry for one minute, without any ego, she leaves because her sister asked her to and than is upset, not at her Di but at herself. She finds herself falling in love with her best friend but tries to sacrifice her love so Virat doesn't get hurt.
Now talking about the sherni she is. She pretends for the world, how she lives her life without any fear, without any worry. She shows everyone she's bindaas. Even when she's talking to God, she never loses her sense of humor. In Indian serials, when anyone talk to God, it's always overly dramatic but when she's talking to God, it would always put a smile on your face. The way she talks to him even when she's angry, it's real. But when things do get hard, we end up seeing her other side. The one who actually does have fears. The one who is scared. But even than, she won't be the one to complain. She takes everything given to her.
There is just something so honest about Maanvi that I don't know how can anyone not fall in love with her. I have to give all the credit for that to Nia. Yes she's a very well written character but the way Nia portrays Maanvi is just something else. She brings something different to Maanvi. I can't imagine anyone else playing Maanvi and making her so perfect. Before this show, I was a huge fan of Heer from Kis Desh Mein Mera Dil but if you read my posts, I would always make fun of her mahaness. She annoyed me to no end cause at times (most of the time) she made no sense. I was also a huge fan of Suhana from Sasural Genda Phool and again there were times when Suhana annoyed the crap out of me too. But over 200 episodes later, Maanvi never made me question why she's doing something, never annoyed me. Well I can go on for days why I love Maanvi cause as Sadi Nikami would tell you, I am pretty good at writing essays.
