| | | | Murli Sharma and Ashwini Kalsekar | Lately, Ashwini Kalsekar and Murli Sharma have been spotted together at various events. As both are single, there is bound to be that curiosity factor of a budding relationship. But the fact is, both have known each other for several years and are good buddies.
Only the lonely
Ashwini, who is rocking as Jigyasa in the Balaji daily Kasamh Se on Zee, says, "I have know Murli for 100 years at least! We have even worked together in television and films. I hate to go out for events alone. I feel so conscious to make an entry all by myself with all those flashbulbs around. So I always go along with someone; that's it. Moreover, we have so many common friends that we land up at the same events."
Adds Murli, "I have known Ashwini since the time we acted in CID years ago. Later, we were part of Prakash Jha's film Apaharan. We may meet each other at events and may have been spotted together, but Ashwini is really just an old friend."
No time for love
Murli, who is best remembered for his role as Khan in Farah Khan's Main Hoon Na, is seen on both the small and big screen. He recently did a cameo in Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai (SaharaOne) and Jasoos Vijay (DD). He also features in Satyajit Bhatkal's Bombay Lawyers, slated for NDTV.
The forthright Ashwini, who was married earlier, adds, "Just because I am photographed with someone doesn't mean anything. It is only my work that matters," she says.
Shades of grey
Though she is playing a negative character for the first time, her portrayal of Jigyasa has won her lots of accolades.
"Viewers have loved the character. Despite Jigyasa's negative track, she still brings tears to people's eyes and that is something. I had never played a grey character before, but Ekta Kapoor could visualise me in such a role."
On the big screen, Ashwini features in Shriram Raghavan's Johnny Gaddar, Neeraj Vora's Kya Family Hai besides Vikram Bhatt and Pawan Kaul's next films. "In fact, in Pawan Kaul's film I play a yellow journalist! There are plenty of this kind around now, isn't it," she laughs.
No stereotyping
Ashwini is open to doing all kinds of roles and enjoyed her track as a cop in the Star One show Siddhant. "Because Jigyasa has clicked, I will now be slotted in negative roles. But I want to experiment with different characters," she says.
Currently, she is missing as Misha in K Street Pali Hill. "The last I heard of her, she was unwell and away from the scenario," she says.
On the other hand, Murli's big screen assignments include Indra Kumar's Dhamaal, Pulakesh Bhaumik's Tarkash, Sudanshu Jha's Ek Dastak, Ashok Wadhwa's Gas Station On The Expressway and Param Gill's Rockin' Meera. |
