What kind of a character do you play in Kasshish?
I'm the indecisive husband, who's having a tough time choosing between two women he loves—his wife Pia and her cousin Ratna. It's a love triangle, but Ratna has not been branded as the 'other woman'. Anand is not the kind of guy who would cheat on his wife, but he's in awe of Ratna and can't help himself.
Is Anand spineless?
He wants to do the right thing and stick by a decision, but is unable to make up his mind. I completely understand his dilemma, because I've also been through moments like these.
What is it that makes him desirable to two women?
His vulnerability and compassion sets him apart. Despite his inability to choose, he's someone who respects women.
Is it an ego trip, having two women fight over you?
Yes, but also very demanding. I pondered hard about the emotions to portray. I didn't want to seem like a jerk, so I came across as helpless.
Have you evolved as an actor?
After the two serials went bust, I was considering giving up television forever. I questioned my judgment on the projects I took up. It's just endless shooting with very little creativity. But director Ravi Rai showed me that acting is not about being sensational or commercial.
Who is hotter? Simone or Kitu?
I think my wife Niharika Khan is the hottest of the lot. The other two are versatile actors and great women.
What is your dream role?
I would love to play Devdas. I was really excited about Sahib Biwi, because the character I portrayed was a lot like him. Unfortunately, it didn't do well.
