Thank you friends for your lovely comments and analysis. Lot of you are not happy with Geet and expected her to go with Maan. Well not sure right or wrong, but I hope you will understand her POV further with next few updates.

So a new morning on the new thread. I hope you enjoy how rest of the story moves…

Chapter 40

Next Morning

Geet woke up with a heavy head. Though she had tried after Maan left but sleep has been very difficult to come. Her mind was swirled with so many thoughts.

She could not believe and was really touched by Maan's gesture to come and meet her. She had already given him a very easy way out of this relationship especially after her father went and talked to him. But he had not given up and had actually come to meet her and asked her to come back. It meant so much to her that on one side she just wanted to run away to him.

But then his wet state and his words had confused her. Was he emotionally upset or just scared of loosing her as a companion. Will they both be truly able to move on? He from Poonam and she from her fear of getting hurt again?

She did not want them to go ahead with any compromises in life just for the sake of comfort. That may bring happiness at first but in the end may lead to frustration and regrets. And regret was one thing she did not want her or him to have ever.

She was also very ashamed of her behavior. Though Maan had tried to convince her but she could not get over the fact that he had been humiliated in front of his family because of her. She had whimpered in the night as cries racked her body thinking about his state and even now a lone tear slipped her eyes.

She was always an optimistic and bubbly girl who believed in herself and in finding ways to always make things better. She could not believe that just few days of parting had made her so insecure. How could she turn so bitter to react in such a way? She was never such an emotional wreck and this just showed that how important Maan and this relationship was to her along with being so delicate and high strung.

She sighed finally as rays hit her room making it very warm and went to freshen up.

She went downstairs to find her mom, dad and bro sitting on dining table with empty plates and solemn looks. She rolled her eyes and sat down and started serving everyone.

They look startled to see her and a fresh wave of pain hit them as they saw her red and puffy eyes. Mohinder and Rano started eating their breakfast silently with no guts to ask her anything right away.

Rahul who was also eating frustratingly put his fork down with force making a loud sound. He asked with almost gritted teeth "Why had Maan come yesterday night."

Geet just looked at her brother who was seething with anger and frustration. She knew he was feeling helpless and was in lot of pain.

She replied calmly – "Woh mujhe lene aaye the."

[He came to take me.]

Mohinder and Rahul looked at her sharply whereas Rano just stared at her plate.

"What? He apologized and asked me to come back."

Again silence fell in the room.

Mohinder finally spoke – "and?'

"And, I told him that we both need some time to understand what we truly want and take a decision."

Rahul burst out – "Koi zaroorat nahi hai wapis jaane ki"

[There is no need to go back.]

Geet smiled and rubbed his shoulder "Shaant gada dhari bheem shant…..I know you are very angry. I am also hurt a lot but the fact is I don't think I can ever be happy without him."

Rahul – "Lekin"

"Lekin I also don't want to be in a relationship which becomes a burden for either of us. So I want to be very sure before I take a decision. Now relax because you are making me feel even more sad….samjhe."

Mohinder nodded his head – "Thik hai beta. Decision to tumhein hi lena hai. But yaad rakhna you are not alone and don't do anything under any kind of pressure."

[Ok beta. You only have to take the decision. But always remember that you are not alone and don't do anything under any kind of pressure.]

Geet smiled - "I know papa…tussi fikar na karo. Aapki beti itni kamzor nahi hai. And one more thing. I just want to tell you all that he has never misbehaved with me and as a matter of fact has been very nice to me since marriage"

She saw Rahul protesting but continued.

"Sach keh rahi hoon mein. Yes I was heart broken when he told me about Poonam but he let me decide what I wanted to do. I just want to clarify that he tried his best to keep me happy and fulfill all my needs."

"Shaadi needs se nahi emotions se puri hoti hai"

[Marriage is not fulfilled by needs but emotions.]

Geet looked at her dad solemnly – "I know papa but I won't fault him for not trying. Koshish kar rahe hain woh. But I just don't know yet ki kya woh koshish kaafi hai."

[I know papa but I won't fault him for not trying. He is trying. But I just don't know yet if that effort is enough.]

Mohinder sighed "Thik hai puttar. Jab tak tujhe umeed hai, mujhe umeed hai. We will support you with whatever you decide."

[Ok dear. Till you have hope, I have hope. We will support you with whatever you decide.]

On the other side Maan opened his bleary eyes with a very small but a smile. He was sleeping in his bed…no no…their bed, first time after marriage. He had returned back home to an almost deserted and dark house. Meera and Dev had come out of their room as they heard him walk upstairs. He had told them he was ok and politely refused Meera's suggestion of dinner.

After changing his clothes, he made coffee and had that along with medicine as he had told Geet. As he took the bitter pill, he promised himself to fulfill all his promises to her.

As he walked back in his room, he saw the empty bed and his mind conjured up images of Geet sleeping in there. He felt her presence and his feet automatically took him to his bed where he sank in feeling her aroma still lingering in the sheets and pillow. He covered himself with duvet feeling her and hoping that she will give him one more chance.

He had understood her insecurities and the fear of facing more pain. He so wanted a moment to wipe away all her fears and but alas he knew it will take time. But he was determined to make her feel his intent and he will change and do what ever is required to gain back her confidence in their relationship and her trust.

The same determination showed on his face as he woke up to a new day and new beginning.

superb update. loved geets answer to rahul that she will b happy only with maan.

it geet insecurities and understanding maan view but still a fear and making her family understand that maan wants second chance and she told them she decided to take time to be sure finally her family understand her maan in geet memories and determined to erase geet all fears do next soon

congrats for new thread. And thanks for update, loved it. Hopfully they will be together soon. And this rolercoster of emotion, insecuritise, expetations n promise, trust will make their realationship stronger. ...in ur storise emotion, bonding n understanding in character is so deep, that is superb. I just love it.
