Lol - I just had to make a change and I totally know what you mean, whenever I go from the UK.. I'm like so annoyed because of the weather. Going from a mega cold atmosphere to a scorching hot one. I'm going again this August - doing Eid there aswell :D My aunty lives there you see. Can't wait.

Anyhow, I didn't actually think about linking the start to the end. I think it was just an unintentional thing.

LOL - they have changed excessively!! Our year is fine but the years after ours (following year 10s) have to do all there exams at the end of year 11 hence meaning that they cannot resit any exams :O I'm happy that I can resit most ones except science as they are the new spec :?

This wasn't the real one, it was just the section B (if you remember or has this changed?).. Its the Information and Ideas section. The section A is about answering questions in the form of an essay after studying two articles.

I HATE SHAKESPEARE!! And its MACBETH. We did part of it in year 9 and I hate it. Its too hard to get around but I hope the essay is controlled assessment as those are easy. Most people cheat by writing it all out on a piece of paper and switching it on the last day of the controlled assessment. Never done that though as I think I'm gonna get caught :?

Well thanks bud :) I really loved your story :)

I know what you mean about the weather :L OMG did you see the freak storms and flooding on Thursday? I was trapped in my car for four hours coming home from school, it was terrifying!

You lucky! My uncle lives out there, but he's decided to come and do Ramadhan here so we can't go over :'( I love Abu Dhabi, it's gorgeous isn't it :)

Yeah, I kinda picked up it was an unintentional thing, but it was cool :) I always used to complain that when poets actually wrote poems, they weren't even thinking about half the crap we have to come out with :L

Well my year was the last year they did coursework (I was last years year 11, so our results are the most recent GCSE results :L). All of my subjects except from English were linear, so no coursework, just one exam at the end of year 11. It was just History where I had a controlled assessment; we did ours on computers where the teachers made new accounts with no internet access or access to any files so it was impossible to cheat :P

You've got it nice and easy Shehroon! You're doing modular and can do resits, I had to suffer doing twenty six exams at the end of year 11 thanks to my school. I can't believe it's only been a year since I sat mine, time flies :P

I remember the paper now! You have an article and words and you have to write a summary and then something else. The last question on the paper is a free form essay on whatever you choose where you can take inspiration from the words and article; is that the one you're sitting?

:L Macbeth is EVIL! My coursework title was 'To what extent can Lady Macbeth be seen as a fiendish Queen?' - twas evil to say the least. I failed that one, but because I did well in everything else, I managed to pull off an A :)

Oh by the way; in my German writing exam (controlled assessment thingy), one kid actually switched his blank paper with his pre written one and wasn't caught! But hey, that's cheating - it's morally wrong :P

Good luck x

I know right!!
One week its like scorching hot that everyone is out in their 'Shorts' only and then the next week, its raining so much that you can't even get out of the house. I had a trip to Alton Towers on 21st June and it was raining there but we had more fun with the rain... otherwise I feel that it would have been boring. Btw, can I ask what part of the UK you are from - I'm from Rochdale, near Leeds. You've probs not heard of it.

My aunty is pregnant aswell and I've got dibs on the name choosing thing when he/she is born - don't know what it is yet cuz the doctors said they'r not allowed to tell anyone.

I know right!! Exactly what I'm thinking whilst we have to write PEED paragraphs in class. Its like 'Stupid poets', why did you have to make it so complicated? I mean why were poems even invented?

We don't have coursework. Instead we have controlled assessments therefore meaning that we can't take anything home, can only bring in (in the form of notes) even though people cheat. And we have modular exams. So in year 10, I've sat 4 English Exams not including the controlled assessments and speaking/listening exams. We still have the English Lit to do.

Ikr - same with my cousin. He's 22 now :O His graduation is like next Thursday and everyone's like I can't believe you're graduating.. Because he used to be proper lazy when he was my age and when younger, didn't even care about studies. Time really does fly. I can't wait till my graduation now!! I can finally say then that I don't need to study any more as I think going to a job and working, getting paid is more fun than sitting around in class writing PEED paragraphs, doing experiments and working out formulas :@

I'm not doing German/Spanish/French. Even better, URDU - I'm sure I'll get and A* in this as I've done my speaking and listening ones so far and in all of them I've got an A*. Doing the writing exam next week - fingers crossed, I'll acheive an A*/A in that too!!
Can't wait till next Summer. Finally High school will be over and college will start. Still confused on my subjects that I'm choosing for next year though - what have you picked? I'm thinking of picking Chemistry, Biology, Maths and something else (Maybe English Lit or IT) We have to pick 4 and then drop one in the second year for A2..

Loads of people do that - always hear boys in science talking about how they switched their sheet. I'm like, how do you do that??

PS: A long reply, I think :?

:L I was quite lucky with the rain. My school have this thing were all the trips of the year are bundled into the same week so we've had about 400 students out of the country like in Rome, Switzerland, France, Germany, Holland etc. And the only year left in school are Year 7, 8 and 10 and half of year 12. So being 6 formers we have to help out on all the trips - being mini teachers. :L it was chaotic in the rain, they had to get 600 kids off coaches and into school with all of them getting wet, luckily I was inside. The teachers we're absolutely soaked to the skin... fun times :P

Aha, Rochdale as in Waterloo Road Rochdale? I've been there before on a day trip when my aunt lived in Leeds. I'm from the last city in England - Newcastle :) Aww, and congrats for your auntie, I've got a six month old cousin in the house, they're just adorable <3

You're a lucky bugger, doing modular :L Most of my friends from other schools did modular but I was stuck doing linear. Oh, and believe me, these years are the best of your life. Sixth form is evil! And to be honest, having a job really isn't worth it :P I'm a sales assistant in good ol' Primark, having the time of me life :|

Inshallah you do well in your Urdu :) I don't think I could've taken Bengali as a GCSE, I can hardly speak it never mind read and write :L

My A levels are Chemistry, Maths with Statistics, History and Economics. I really recommend Chemistry, even though it is the hardest A-Level, it really is the most interesting :) PS: I'm dropping Maths, to sum it up in one word = evil! It is truly horrendous, do not take it! I think you should take English Lit, all my friends absolutely love it, I really wish I'd taken it this year. I'm planning on taking it as an AS next year. Can't really say anything about Biology coz I hated it :L

Good luck with your choices and your GCSE's - remember, you're getting it good right now ROFL =]

PS: I love long replies LMAO

LOL - That is quite funny. It was raining really really bad here. And then in Alton Towers, it was just epic!! We had so much fun. The best bit was when we were in the cues and it started to rain really really bad! But it was so much fun. We're there dancing around like hooligans. Other people are like what the? (like ASR) and we're like 'Don't look at us then if you're not interested.. Pffft'

Yeahh, thats the one. I don't watch Waterloo Road but I do know that this is the same Waterloo Road. Don't ask me why but I don't watch English Programmes - I watch the Apprentice though. Probs the only English TV Reality show I watch. LOL.

Newcastle :O
I'm not joking but my dad's cousins live there. Well its wierd calling them Chachu and Phupho cuz my so-called phupho is only 17/18. And my Chachu had a baby boy last week. He's only 1 week old. Awwwh. Don't know what they named him though. Babies are so so cute but if they're boys, they get naughtier and naughtier day-by-day. I mean it! My brother was probably the innocent-est baby there was on Earth and now he's like a proper wannabee, shouldn't be saying this but I think he's going to be big-headed when older. Reminds me of a guy in my Science. Arghh - he's not big-headed but its just really wierd. (If you get what I mean :?)

Ermmm. Well everyone will be stuck doing Linear next year :D.
Only our Maths Exam and Textiles (I think) is linear otherwise, everything is modular. I fell really sorry for you..
I went for a day to Rochdale Sixth Form (the new one) on Thursday and absolutely loved it!! It seems so relaxed and chilled out. I mean you get free lessons - LOL. Only thing I'm looking forward to because then we're having the new Town Centre being opened so it'll be proper cool when we have free lessons and we can go there :D. We'll be the first year like that.

Well Initially, I had these chosen but then I switched to Accountancy which required me more on the Maths Side (in a way) hence I was picking Business Studies, Maths, IT and English Lit. But now, my cousins came over on Saturday - as usual study talks start. And they're asking me what I'm doing for my A-levels as I'll be picking them this September. And I told them. They were like there aren't much jobs in accountancy plus, if you want to be recognised, you need to become a proper Chartered Accountant which'll take you 7/8 years after college (Imagine that) and then they advised me to go on to either of the following; Pharmacy, Optometry or Audiology. So I was looking at the Manchester Uni prospectus thing and entry requirements. The subjects I need are Chemistry, Biology and Maths. So I'm like Eeek, the ones I wanted to do at first anyway. But I am in Set 1 for Maths and have been since the start of Year 7. Plus, I'm expected an A* in Maths aswell so I think, its worth the risk. Plus, I'm on tuition at KUMON and by the time I'm in college, I'll have covered most of the A-level stuff because they're in levels.

My other cousin however was saying the same what you have said and advised me not to do Maths. But I'm not stuck. I'll see what my maths results tell me and only after that, will I decide.. But My cousin who is graduating, did Biology for A-levels and said that its actually really really fun. Its like you study it in more depth and after looking at my Text Books, he was like most of the stuff in here is what you do at A-levels hence meaning, I could be where he is right now, graduating as he's done what I've done for GCSEs at A-levels. :D
More clever, then aren't I?

Hehe - Thanks :) the pressure is all on me now. As I'm the only one out of my dad's and mum's side of the family who is doing GCSEs/ is in year 10/11. I mean, I have no-one my age. How unfair is that? Boring life with no-one of my age to talk to. Pfft. Oh well...

And PS: I also like long replies :)

:L I went to Alton Towers during the Easter Holidays. The cue for 13 took one and a half hours in the pouring rain. We ended up buying those dinky ponchos. Air took two hours to get on, but it was definitely the best one there. Lol at the ASR reference, hehe.

Oh, you're missing so much! I watch more English/American than Indian - there's just so much you can take of rhona-dhona crap. That's why I like EHMMBH, IPKKND and DEW and that's about it. That new one, Pyaar Ka Dard is quite good as well. And OMG, when Waterloo Road starts next year again, you HAVE to watch it, it's sooo good :P Whenever I think of the Apprentice, I just keep getting reminded of that girl who was first out who kept talking and talking and Lord Sugar had enough of her and fired her :L

I've got relatives like that :L Aunties and uncles who are babies! It's rediculous, and boys are deffo big headed as they grow up. I have a love/hate relationship with my 18 year old brother and my 4 year old brother is just annoying as hell. :L Shehroon, all boys are annoying at 14/15; I'm afraid they don't get any better when they grow up, unless they're gay, then they're like your bestie :P

Ah, free periods - I don't know how I went through twelve years of compulsory education without frees. They are like the GREATEST thing ever created. Saying that, the likelihood of actually getting ANY work done is nil - zero - nought.

The typical Asian subjects lmao! You can not get more predictable :P Don't listen to what anyone else says, if you feel passionate about something, then you follow that path - don't let anyone discourage you. I recommend you do A science, because just having one down shows that you are an able student, plus science can go into anything! Universities love sciences; you can do a science and apply for every course under the sun. You see, I was the same with maths; I'm really good at it, got an A* at GCSE and I am good at it in AS as well but believe me, the jump between GCSE and AS is ridiculous! The things you are expected to know and understand is mind blowing - and there is Maths coursework! (You'll have PLENTY of coursework to do at A-Levels :L)

Most of the subjects you do at GCSE have no real difference when you get to A-Level, it's only a lot more in-depth. My Chemistry course now is just everything I learnt at GCSE, but like three times the detail so it's easy to get the hang of it all. But don't let that fool you; the hardest thing I found this year was the jump between GCSE and A-Levels - it's so big and I have no idea how they think people are supposed to manage to leap that gap after being off for three months :S

Well I had my brother in the year above, but we don't talk :L It can get frustrating but that's why you have friends, and I found it really helpful talking to people in my school who were in the years above - don't worry, they don't bite :P

Anyways, sorry for the late reply - been really busy with trips :L

(Ah, look at me spamming your post :P)

About Alton Towers - It didn't actually take us really long to get on the roller coasters like Nemesis, Rita, Air and Sonic Spinball was actually really good :D Oh there was Hex aswell and at the end we had enough of it all so we went on the kiddy one near Hex, where you're under a mushroom kinda thing - do you know what I'm talking about? The swing, go round and round and higher and higher. LOL. It was really funny because all the others were children and only me and my 3 friends were like 15 :D.. And 13 was the one where we had to wait forever. Actually it was only 45-50 minutes but it was really worth the time. Air was defo the best one... we would have gone on it again but the cue was really really long. And we were so glad that we went on it earlier :D

I don't watch all of the Indian dramas - I only watch EHMMBH, IPKKND, PKDHMMPP & ASA. I don't get time to do anything else. Its just really frustrating and I know you're going to say; 'If you think this is hell, wait till you get into College & Uni' but I've heard that loads of times. However, personally I feel that College will be a better experience as you're independent there. No-one going after you to do your notes for science etc - I'm not saying this is a good thing but at the end of the day, this will tell everyone who is capable and who isn't... who puts the work in and who doesn't.

LOL at the Apprentice thing you said. I only started to watch it last year when 'Young Apprentice' came on and my younger sister persuaded me to watch it. This year I had to catch up because I was caught up with my exams so only after those could I watch/catch up. I will defo watch Waterloo Road now when it comes on - if I do like it, will tell you ;)

Hehee - My brother is a 'mamoo' already to a niece who is double his age. It's so funny being born like that. I'm the eldest so obvs not my child as I'm 15 but my cousin's daughter is double his age. I find it extremely stupid and actually can't understand long relationships i.e when your mum is talking about someone and you're just curious to find out who the person is... you make the biggest mistake which is asking her and then she's like you know that cousin, her uncle's daughter's husband's brother's wife's mum's dad's. Its like.. what are you saying - draw me it on a piece of paper so I know what you're saying. Seriously that has happened to me before and then I'm like after 2 minutes, leave it.. I'll live without knowing who the damn person was.

I'm just planning two years ahead when I will be at the end of my first year at college thinking - WOW, college is actually really good!!

Lmaoo. I understand. I'm really passionate about English Lit & Chemistry & Maths. Biology is just something which I will need later on in Uni and if I'm confident about the other's, Biology will be the only subject that I'll have to work extra hard on. Yeahh - I know. My cousin was saying the same that you've already learnt this and Additional Chemistry & Biology but at A-levels, you'll only go in more depth of the subject, which will increase you knowledge and your love towards the subject. I was thinking 'Awkward.. love towards the subject? Can it get any better?'

We're doing our Maths exams in November and then we're either going on to do Additional Maths/Statistics. And my teacher said that Additional Maths is just the standard of Maths at AS level but you can get a full A-Level grade for it as you're not in that year yet. If we do this, it'll be easier for me in the first year of college as I'll have done most of the stuff anyway (hopefully)

Yeahh - my cousin was saying the same that UNIs will take science students as with good grades in science just shows that you're capable of doing absolutely anything if you put the dedication towards it and are determined.

I'm the oldest so don't have elder brothers or sisters. Plus, one of my cousin is graduating and one is going into UNI so they won't be there either. And yeahh, its high school all over again - making new friends and meeting your old friends from primary school. It'll be really awkward (I think) - I mean meeting them after such a long gap of 5 years. I'm saying this as only 5/6 people came to my Oulder Hill from primary. The rest went to Matthew Moss & Kingsway.. Maybe you've heard of these as you've been here with your aunty. not sure though..

I'll know most of the older students anyway as some will be from primary and some will be from high school

Its alright - I totally understand. I was about to go to sleep until I saw in me emails that someone has posted a reply on this thread of mine. I was like; I'm sure that this is Sabeeha so I have to reply back :)

I went in the middle of the holls so it was completley packed. Thankfully, we did the big ones first, so the first one I went on was Oblivion - scary as anything. I know which one you mean - :L I'm 17 and I went on it hehe

The amount of times I've heard that saying as well, lol, I think the older you get, the more you hear it. I'm really not looking forward to Uni :P Independence in College really depends on the College itself. Mine is really strict as in I have a 8.25 to 4 day where despite I, on average have two lessons a day, can't go out or go home for my frees. If you go to a proper college then you do have the independence that you don't have in 6th Forms but on the flip side, you're just thrust into this scarier world where you've been spoon fed for twelve years and now you're completely on your own in the sense that teachers/lecturers won't care if you do the work or not whilst at school they'd be clipping you round the ear to get the work done. So yeah, your personal choice. I decided to stay at 6th Form 'coz the prospect of College was too daunting for me :L

There's a general consensus in terms of all the people I know about the epicness of Waterloo Road. It's just class! The same goes for the Apprentice, but like you I was busy with revision so I have no idea who won :P

My mum does that too! It's deffo a proper Asian habit, we're all related somehow or the other :L I like taking the mick out of my Pakistani friend about her 'family' in Bradford, but the funny thing is that it's actually true. We just had brand new neighbours move in from Manchester and somehow my mum has found some long distant relation hah! And the other thing; every one seems to be intermarried, thankfully my family isn't or my family tree would be seriously messed up.

Haha, love towards a subject is deffo not how I'd put it! The only reason you kinda enjoy doing your subjects is because even though it is really hard, once you've understood it and can apply it properly, then that small sense of accomplishment makes you feel great. Other than that, there will be no 'loving of subjects' unless you're hundred percent certain on whatever the hell you wanna do after A-Levels.

Ah, you're doing the same thing I did! GCSE Maths Year 10 and then Additional Maths in Year 11. I just want to warn you about it - Additional Maths is almost as terrible as AS Maths. Most of my class got A*/nearly 100% in their GCSE Maths because I stupidly was in top set, but the results for Additional Maths came back as D's. The highest was a C which was the brainiest mathematician in my whole school - you have no idea how good she is at maths and she got a C. It is really hard stuff, and a bit of it is actually in the AS course, but even then, it's still confusing as hell. I can't emphasise just how harder it gets, and I think no one really anticipates just how hard it will get which is why the jump between Year 11 and 12 is so brutal. (I feel like I'm scare mongering, but it is 100% true...)

:L It deffo is awkward. I remember meeting some of my first primary mates in high school and we never spoke until year 9. We just so happen to be besties again so it is weird. There's just a big wide world out there for us to discover :P

And sorry about that, it seems these days, the only time I actually find to do things ends up like at 10/11/12/1ish at night. My sleep pattern is cuckoo. Have a good night's sleep :P
