I must confess beforehand that I have never seen Dhoop Kinare. I had never even heard of this show before I started watching KTLK. Since then, I have tried to catch glimpses on YT but that is all!

Coming to the theme, I think KTLK is taking it beyond where DP left it. To me, the true test of relationships and marriage lies post marriage. 'And they lived happily ever after' is a great place to end a story, The audiences can go back with smiles on their faces, dreaming of marital bliss for the couple. But is it so easy after all? Is marriage really a bed of roses? How much of hard work does it take to achieve that bliss? Is it even possible?

I am really glad that AshNi got married. DP' had an interesting premise but that was never going to be enough for a daily soap content wise. The story had to go beyond their falling in love. There were only two ways to take it from there. Either show them breaking up on account of societal pressure or show them getting together. Am real happy the show chose the latter option.

Anybody can fall in love with anybody else. No big deal there! But what does it take to keep that love going? Particularly when you have more than a normal couple's share of issues to deal with. That for me is the interesting part!

I am really looking forward to being part of the AshNi journey hereon! I really hope KPji continues to keep it real and mature. I want to be a part of the crowd, rooting for AshNi, cheering them on as they love, fight, make up. I want to be part of their 'lived happily ever after' process!

I freagn LOVE DP ... all time classic n my fave...! For me KTLK can never match up to DP ..but agree. .i always wanted to see how Ahmer-Zoya wuld hv dealt with the society...! DP was too idyllic... but still a classic!

Keep up the vibe! 👏

I agree with you.

Yet I would like to recommend you to watch it completely and continuously.

Dr. Ahmer was a truly matured character and his obsession with the house was neatly dealt with.. there was no third person prompting him about these issues... ultimately he was the one who took decisions for him self... When he had come to know that the house belonged to Dr.Zoya, he did not react so awkwardly... He had a good friend -- Dr.Sheena, but he was not blind to her... never one gets a doubt why he never had an idea of marrying her.

Dr.Zoya was a bubbly girl with her head in its right place. There was a clarity in her character.

That show was 25 year old and the circumstances did not allow the public display of affection... still the romance and the spark were palpable...plus, 18 years of age gap is not a objection with society.

Therefore I guess, there is no doubt that this couple would carry on their lives happily ever after without the societal or any other pressure...

The circumstances change... now after 25 years and in India, this couple will have to face these issues...

very good post Sujata. If it goes the way it is going now for last 2 weeks it can overtake the DK effect we had that time.

I started watching Ktlk rather accidentally .I think it is episode 5. Got attracted to the freshness of the theme.By that time the serial was over 50 episodes. So I watched it from the start. Never interested in watching DK as I did'nt want to compare. But with the recent Mallika debacle I got curious about how Mallu"s counterpart was dealt in the original. The glaring difference was the consistency and clarity in the characters .Zoya was bubbly not silly. Ahmer made his own decisions and his friendship with Sheena was within the limits and nothing beyond that. But making a mega serial is more challenging and cannot be compared with a 50 episode serial. Moreover the era of the 2 serials are also different. In that way I have no complaints with Ktlk. The only pitfall is Mallu and too much of importance given to her so as to make the story appear as a triangular love story. This one aspect which changes the color of the story is unpardonable to me. I can tolerate anything other than Mallu in Ashni's life. I love the present Ktlk more than DK and my only wish is Mallu/ Rohan should not be back .not even for Trp's.

neither have i actually..the only reason i started watching KTLK was it had docs as main characters...

even when there is no issue of age gap, marriage is not always a bed of roses. irrespective of how close to a certain age you are, there are always differences in tastes, choices, even basic fundamentals and principles. at the end of each issue most of the time, one of the partner ends up compromising..am not saying thats a bad thing, just that its a big part in making a peaceful life for yourself and people around you. not letting your ego come between you and your partner is a big thing and if you are able to do that the journey can certainly be enjoyable and at times blissful.

AShNi do have to deal with more issues than the normal avg couple. this is a time when 5-7 yrs is treated like a generation gap. me and my hubby are 5 yrs apart, me being the younger one..my nephew who is 22 now one day asked me, "5 yrs?? maasi how did you say yes?" so 18 yrs is huge. Nidhi has the attitude of " why worry about tomorrow and spoil our today" and AShu the exact opposite. it would definitely be interesting to see these both building a life and family together despite the oddities.

I am really looking forward to being part of the AshNi journey hereon! I really hope KPji continues to keep it real and mature. I want to be a part of the crowd, rooting for AshNi, cheering them on as they love, fight, make up. I want to be part of their 'lived happily ever after' process!
