Now, as you go into a frenzy over why Rishabh and Maddy are getting married and media and Prashant Bhatt play Rating-Rating , go a little into the flashback mode:
" Apni iss galti ki keemat tum agle 40 saal takk chukaaogi."

Then, answer a simple question.
What is it that can give you complete control over somebody's life? What is it that can give Rishabh the remote control to play with Maddy's life? What can he do and what should he do to keep his favourite obsession in front of his eyes? How does he make sure that Maddy doesn't even take a breath without him knowing about it?
For that , Rishabh has to keep Maddy with him 24x7. To dictate her tragic life , he needs her in his den. Once she marries him for whatever reasons, she becomes his 'Kathputli' ( the previous title of the show ) ) and he can pull her strings as he likes. Remember the final shot of the title montage ? Rishabh twirls Maddy and leaves but she keeps dancing like a doll in a music box.
In short, perhaps Rishabh was always meant to marry Maddy early in the show . Everything is in place if you see the past episodes - Rishabh 's hatred , his obsession and his almost dangerous urge to keep this woman under his claws for her entire lifetime. Remember he even coloured Maddy's hair in his own blood in that bust which he made of her.
And Bollywood is full of many such true stories but in the 1950s-1960s -1970s where some of our actresses were forced to become actresses and they did whatever their director husband , superstar lover , greedy family wanted.
Finally , just to remind everyone once again.

Maddy is beautiful, soft , tragic. The quality that perhaps some greatest actresses of our black and white era had. Rishabh is her necessary evil - she will neither be able to live with him, nor live without him.
