Psychopathic movies do make up scary movies. Movies like the one's you mention just play w/ our mind and make us fear the unknown. I hope bollywood finds such a director and writer to make movies of the kind like Sixth Sense or the Ring. 😊 Another movie that I think was an excellent example of a good horror movie was "The others". If you haven't seen it...do check it out. :)

yeah the others, the ring and sixth sense are good movies but i wouldnt call them horror apart from the ring. saw could be classed as horror.

i think someone made a good point, that the bollywood movies aint made frquently because of the audience. therefore the directors cant experiment much with failed experinces etc

But the funny thing is that Ghosts are a part of our culture, I mean Bhoot/Pret/Aatma etc are part of our ancient history....our culture, our life. Shouldn't we be liking Horror movies. The fact is that we make pathetic and ridicolous horror flicks...can't blame the Audience.

I agree w/ SolidSnake. Its not the audience to be blamed. If there is a good script, a good director...I am sure we would love the movie. The fact is we don't have good stories and most of the time when there is a good story...it has been "inspired" by the English or some other original version of that movie.

I think they've forgotten about what makes a horror movie😛

A horror movie first needs a good story with a brilliant twist! It has to be quick and snappy so the audience don't get a chance to direct there thoughts elsewhere and it needs blood and lots of it😃 Like I said I haven't watched many Indian horror movies so my comments are basicaly formed from which I have watched and conversations with those who do watch them. Can you give me an example of an Indian horror movie please?😊😳

Well you've got a fair point about bhoots being part of our history. But recently I read a story by an Indian author and he narrated that Bolloywood movies,( where you have a hero who faces troubles that are exagerated etc etc who falls in love and in the end his life is perfect etc) are paralel to the American Dream in america. They give the audience whose lifes are not on the up, inspiration and some kind of hope to which they can continue there lives. They want to see happy endings and love stories rather than horror movies which, in some peoples cases, reflect there everyday life.

I agree, Hindi horror films are no good. There is no suspense, no fear. When I watched Darna Marna Hai, Bhoot, Darna Zaroori Hai I wasn't scared at all. They looked like any other film. Hollywood or Japanese films on the other hand, scare the heck out of me!!! I get freaked out so fast!

I can't really speak for Japanese films, all I know is that Hollywood gets inspired by the Japanese films and the Hollywood ones are really good, so I can imagine what the Japanese ones are like!

I guess the reasons Hollywood films are so scary is the fact that there a lot of twists, suspense! The music is also very creepy, the settings, there is lots of blood or eyes popping out, killings. It is just really good!!

One thing that our desi directors waste their time on is ROMANCE. even in the eeriest "supposed to be" flicks, they have a couple hugging and cheezy lines and all, which totally kicks off the horror.

And then, like you said, J-Horror concentrates on the psychological horror. Here?
hahah, how about Darna Mana Hain (have not seen Par II yet)
- that thing about the apples. What the heck.
The apples are haunted, so they keep coming back, and she somehow gets rid of them... i dont even remember what she did with them

- That thing with Vivek and no eyes. It starts out as a comedy kinda thing, and ends "horribly". It did not make sense

thats it... they don't make sense
