If they had showed that ahe had heart problems or cancer ... then people would have thought that she fell ill because of genetic problems and the state of her daughter was incidental...
so they showed that she was dying of depression... so that it would be very clear to individuals that she was dying specifically because of guilt.
Depression is a serious illness, because many people lose the will to live -- it is called "ichcha tyaag" of one's life -- not suicide, but just generally one feels that one has no goals to look forward to or to live for, and basically people sort of mentally shut down and this in turn leads to a physical shut down.
I dont know if you have heard of cases where a 65 year old woman dies, then within two weeks her 66 year old husband dies of mysterious causes -- there is no real physical cause, but just that the husband lost the will to live after his wife's death -- or mothers who die soon after their child may have passed away.

Very true, tinoo. Emotional distress of that kind can have very powerful physical effects...

Oh thanks tinoo.. i didn't know about this😲 i knw that depression will cause the person to give up food n water etc n then in due course die. But i didnt knw it would also immobilise the person like how bhago's state is..she cant move on her own..thats why i thought she has paralyses...

ash,
our whole body is a series of chemical reactions that are occuring (breathing, oxidation, digestion, excretion, messages from the spinal cord to move our feet, messages from the brain to our spine etc.; the way our thyroid regulates our system ) -- our body is one big chemical factory with hundreds of chemical reactions all occurring simultaneously...
when the brain is happy, the right amount of chemicals are released into the body organs to do their jobs...
when the brain is unhappy, and depressed, this results in serious chemical imbalances and hormonal imbalances where the wrong amounts of chemicals are released ... causing all sorts of toxic problems within the body...
emotions like anger and revenge and unhappiness can cause extreme inflammation in body organs... and then the physical organs are not able to do their jobs because of so much chemical imbalance...
depression therefore also affects the spinal cord and all the nerve endings and causes neurological damage as well ... which is why bhago may have trouble getting up and sitting up...

Are you a psychiatrist??? If not please do no write wrong information. Depression is mental illness with biological psychological and social cause and consequences. No one dies just because of guilt, they tend to have such low motivation that their food fluid intake suffers which causes death. Also iccha tyag is not suicide. Its when people are that actualised that they achieve enlightment...as opposed to suicide where people actively kill themselves. PLease do not write half known information ,its dangerous. Also this forum is not for such topics.
