"Thank you for dropping me off" Khushi smiled at Nikhil once again as she got out from the taxi, smoothing her sky blue kurti that ended two inches above her skinny jean encased knees.
"No problem J, anytime. I should be back by the evening. I'll give you a ring" he waved as the cab drove off, leaving her in front of AR industries.
She took hesitant steps in her black flats and pulled up her sunglasses so that they rested atop her head. Looking around for some sort of information desk, her eyes fell on the reception and she walked silently toward it.
"Um, hi!" she chirped brightly, only to have the receptionist glance back stoically at her. Okay then, not the happy happy types Khushi thought, rearranging her facial expression into those of a more poised person. "Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada please?" her elegant tone belied the hectic emotions fluttering through her mind. How would he react? What would she say after last night-
"Appointment?" was the only thing the witch-excuse me, woman opposite her said as she checked her nails.
Khushi fumed, her flushed demeanor evaporating within seconds "I'm his wife and I don't think that I need an appointment"
Her words had the desired effect. The receptionist's eyes bulged almost comically as she hit the phone in record speed, muttering a few, hurried words into the receiver.
In ten seconds, she saw three guards come up and stand behind her as if waiting for further instructions.
"Get her out of here, this woman is delusional" the witch told the burly men, pointing obscenely in Khushi's direction.
This was the limit! Khushi slapped a hand onto the counter as she leaned into the woman's face dangerously, wanting to give her a piece of her "delusional" mind.
But before she could verbally smash the receptionist for uttering those words, a familiar voice interrupted her unladylike approach.
"Khushi?!" came the soft voice that was a mixture of amazement and disbelief. She turned around to see her husband's cousin; Akaash staring at the scene in front of him with an entertained expression on his face.
"Sir, this woman is crazy! She came in told me that she was ASR's wife-" the receptionist interjected in a hurried manner, waving her finger once again in Khushi's face.
It was starting to annoy her so bad and all Khushi wanted to do was get it out from her sight.
"Which she is" was his calm reply as he walked forward to where his brother's wife was standing. "I'm sorry Bhabhi that you had to go through all this-" Akaash apologized in a sincere tone.
"Don't worry Akaashji, I'm fine. Actually, they're just doing their job, galti meri hai (its my fault). Should have come with an appointment." She laughed, laying a comforting hand on his arm.
"We're so sorry ma'am, we had no idea and-" the staff immediately started their string of apologies, which in turn she brushed off cheerfully. "Don't worry, no harm done and by the way, it's Khushi." She smiled at them, returning the atmosphere once again to normal.
Turning to Akaash, she slid the medicines into his hand, "he didn't have his davaiyyan (medicines), that's why I'm here." But her devar kept them right back into her fist, "Bhabhi, you go ahead, mujhe kahin jaana hai and I'm in a slight hurry-"
"Arrey, toh you go. Mujhe pataa nahi tha, mein jaakar de doongi." (I had no idea that you had to go; Dont worry, I'll give them) Khushi smiled at him once again, giving him a slight push towards the door.
"I'll see you later Bhabhi."
She nodded and turned around to the receptionist once again, "can I know the way to his office?" she asked her. The woman immediately signaled to the security guards, instructing them to take Mrs. Raizada to sir's office.
"No, no" Khushi interrupted them, laughing slightly. "Don't bother; I'm sure I'll find it on my own." She read the woman's name and smiled, "My Di's name is Anjali as well."
Surprisingly, the stoic receptionist smiled, "my mother named me after Kajol in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai." She confessed to Khushi, who in turn grinned. "It's still my all-time favorite" she replied.
Anjali explained in full detail what elevator to take and where to turn, "if you have any problem ma'am, just press the red help button located in each corridor."'
Khushi smiled as she took in the directions, pushing up the sunglasses that had slipped slightly. She walked to the elevator and pressed the button for it to go up.
As the door opened with a slight ting, she called out to Anjali who looked up at her quizzically, "It's Khushi not ma'am" she repeated, laughing for the umpteenth time as she caught the other woman smile at her slightly, just before she disappeared into the elevator with a swish.
Arnav spun his chair around to face the front of his cabin as he heard a slight knock on the door.
"Come on in" he said, wondering who it could be. He had no more appointments in office today and when had his PA ever knocked so demurely?
The door opened with a slight click as he saw a flash of sky blue cloth enter the room.
His wife stood before him, smiling hesitantly. She shuffled her feet, unknown to the picture of effortless elegance she created in her baby blue, slightly hugging kurti that hinted at her curves wonderfully and dark skinny jeans that molded to her shapely legs.
Mine. All mine.
He took in each and every inch of his wife's delectable, unfortunately covered body and proceeded to undress her with his piercing eyes.
"How come you're here Khushi?" he asked her in a soft voice, motioning to the seats right beside her. "Um, your medicines'" she trailed off as she kept them on his table.
Something in him jumped at the prospect of her being worried for him.
He didn't like the fact that it did, but he reveled in the feeling as a smile lifted the corners of his mouth. "Thank you. Would you like something?"
His wife shook her head silently as she sat down in the plush seat, hesitantly taking in his cabin. Her gaze lingered at the tall, simple ceiling and cringed slightly upon seeing his glass walls.
She didn't say anything, merely continued the visual assessment of his cabin.
Arnav's eyes followed each slight turn of her head, the worrying of that plump lower lip and the flashing of those hazel lenses. He remembered how those eyes had darkened last night when she'd come-
He snapped from his sexual reverie when she laughed suddenly; the tinkering sound bouncing pleasantly off his walls. "That's a really pretty picture of Di" she told him, her eyes bright with animation as she looked back at him.
He just nodded as she walked to the photograph and trailed her slender fingers over it.
The innocent gesture was twisted into something else entirely when he remembered how she had touched him, ran her nails down his back when she'd surrendered to the passion between them.
Arnav cussed in his mind as he hardened. What was he thinking, turning himself on in the middle of the day during work?
What the hell was happening to him?
Khushi turned around to see Arnav pinching the bridge of his nose in a tired manner. She must have disturbed the poor guy, she thought worriedly as she leaned over his table.
"Arnav?" she asked him, gently laying a hand on his shoulder.
His head snapped up immediately upon her touch, his eyes glowing bright with an emotion she didn't understand.
She dropped her hand immediately, scared that her action had somehow prompted the wrong response. "Actually, I'll go now. You seem busy and mujhe lagta hai ki I interrupted you (And I have a feeling that I interrupted you). Toh, I'll see you later." Khushi told him, walking back and opening the door to leave.
"Khushi wait" she heard him say. Turning around, she saw her husband grab his jacket and car keys, and then walk towards her so that he could take the door from her.
She smiled upon seeing his action.
Always the gentleman, she thought as they exited the cabin.
