I Quit!
Fed up of the demanding television work culture, Anita Hassanandani quits, only to eye the big screen

Who said they had it easy? For all the popularity and adulation television actors receive, they also have to bear erratic and tedious working hours. Anita Hassanandani, who plays the female lead in Kavyanjali, vouches for this fact. The actress has decided to bid farewell to television to join films.
"I haven't slept properly for a year," she says, referring to her experience with the show. The shooting schedules of Kavyanjali have been very hectic since the show's inception.
Even producer Ekta Kapoor agrees that it was difficult to manage Kavyanjali. "The scenes which we would shoot on a particular day would be telecast the very next day. So, there was no break for the technicians or the actors. I think Anita and Eijaz (the male lead) worked the hardest. They worked non-stop without causing any inconvenience or giving excuses," recalls Ekta.
All the same, with the show nearing its end, Anita is feeling nostalgic. "It has been very pressurising but I'll always have fond memories of the show," says Anita. And with the show's conclusion, Anita is also taking a break from television. "I want to concentrate on my film career for a while. I've just signed a big film in the South that goes on the floors next month," says Anita.
There are actors who effortlessly manage to act in both films and television. So why quit one medium altogether? "I had that option," she says. But Anita wants to take it easy for a while and she informed Ekta about her plans well in advance.
"I tried to dissuade her from quitting television, but it was her call," says Ekta. So now, what happens to the reality talk show that Balaji had planned for Anita? "It has been put on hold for a while. I've a very good script for Anita but I guess we'll have to wait till she changes her mind," laughs Ekta.
Apparently, Anita was given to believe that Kavyanjali would end in July but it continued for another month. "I wanted the show to wind up early, so I could give dates to my producers in the South. Since Kavyanjali didn't end on the said date I had no option but to post-pone shooting for my films," says Anita.
The actress feels that Balaji offered her the best roles. "It was great working with Balaji and I'm sure we'll do more work in the future," says Anita. But for now, she has set her sights on the big screen.
