Well lets just hope that the episode brought awareness and some ppl atleast realised that they mustn't do so in future.

And yes bout cadavers floating on the surface of the river,i too had seen it in discovery or somewer long time bk.That was like HEIGHTS!And yes one reason mite b poor ppl doing it,but der were some well off ppl also doing it :O

And minaxi di,yes they had organised a ganga bachao aandolan some time bk,it was a much hyped issue, evrybody was like after this, ganga will be crystal clear again and all. They tried their level best in clearing the sewage etc,but soon enuf, ppl strtd doing what they do best-pollute,again.SIGH! :(

Vrish, those steps are very much essential and must be incorporated in such places.

I too am so glad they have put this important message for people to see. Ganga is like the soul of India but people perhaps are not aware of the scale of damage that has been done!

I do remember seeing once news report on the dumping of dead body there; it was indeed that many families do not have the money to procure the fuel for cremation, but want to put their loved one to the Ganga, particularly in varanasi. It is really shocking that whole bodies would be put there, but maybe the families were desperate? Don't know - it is strange. There has been much call for proper crematorium there hai na?

It is hard to believe we have done this to the water we once called nirmal jal, but many rivers of the world have been cleaned up with success, for example the Yang-tze in China. It too was once so horribly polluted so as to be dangerous. I can't remember when it was cleaned - or if it is still clean. But it shows that with effort this environmental task is possible. I hope all Indians will put their mind to this task!

Kudos to CV's for giving us great message!👏

While it was good to show case the need to take care of Gnaga, the CVs could have done it through narrative rather than propoganda; as an epic show, they could have done it through showcasing important kings, cities and as Ganges having a central place in major narratives and epics
