Chapter 4:

Arnav walked in and smelled her. A sweet, subtle, flowery fragrance hit him, making her presence known to him. He hung his keys and strode towards the kitchen, putting his laptop bag on the counter and grabbing a glass of water.

It was more silent than usual he thought. Not letting his brain wander off to the girl, Arnav made his way to his room, on the other side of the apartment. He loved this place, it was perfect for him. It was sad how he didn't spend much time here. He was glad he was now here for a good few months; he would surely make use of the place.

He went to freshen up and change, heading back to the kitchen after. He sat at the table with his tea and crackers, trying his best not look at the closed door at the far end. In the end he couldn't stop himself from wondering how she looked, whether her personality was anything like how she smelt'"Stop it!" he snapped at himself and got up for bed.

Arnav woke up early as usual, went to turn on his coffee and started to get ready for work. It was the same routine every day. Things were different back at home, his di and nani flocked around him like bees around honey, doing everything for him. It actually felt good sometimes to do your own work. But they won't or ever understand that.

In the meantime, Khushi got done with brushing her teeth and washing her face. She looked at herself in the mirror, like always her face bright and not showing any signs of stress or tiredness, it never did. A good quality she would tell herself. Grabbing a pair of jeans and a tshirt, Khushi threw them on, smoothing away the slight wrinkles on her tshirt. She fingered through her straight medium length hair, trying to flatten the flyaways and made her way out to the kitchen with her stomach grumbling loudly.

"Oh my God, coffee, yes!" jumped Khushi and rushed towards the coffee maker. She grabbed a mug from the cupboard above and poured herself the entire liquid and sat down at the table, her mood changed drastically.

Arnav came into kitchen dressed in his usual three piece suit, laptop bag in hand. He put the bag on the counter, grabbed a protein bar from the cabinet and headed for his coffee.

"What the" yelled Arnav, seeing his carafe empty.

Khushi turned around in her seat instantly at the sound, or more like a shout and saw him'in suit. What was up with her seeing so many men in suits lately? She should have been over it but no, damn the suit, still made her knees go weak.

She looked to what made him shout in the first place and saw the pot empty. She darted her eyes down to her cup now nearly empty and looked back up worried.

He saw something move on the side and turned to see her looking at him with a guilty look in her eyes. He glanced towards the mug clasped around her hands, delicate and long'.he turned away abruptly, pissed off.

Khushi got off the chair and took small steps towards him, "I am so sorry!"

"I came out and saw the pot full, didn't think at all and drank it! I can quickly make some for you?" She said real fast out of nervousness.

She mentally slapped herself for her stupidness, but she honestly forgot about where she was the second her eyes landed on the coffee.

She saw him try to control his anger, and could barely speak "No its fine, I'll just get one on my way to work."

He turned to leave when she smiled brightly and started to make her introduction "Hi! I am Khushi! I was explained that I would be staying here for the next three months due to uhhh, because of some unfortunate occurrence. I wanted to thank you for agreeing to take me in, it's a magnificent apartment you have got here!"

All in one breathe, with a huge toothed smile, she went on and on. Had he made a wrong decision in letting her stay here?

No way was he going to tolerate a chatter box of a kid.

"Shutup" he hissed at her.

Khushi instantly shut her mouth, it wasn't her fault. She naturally started to talk nonstop when she was nervous, scared, angry, happy or just plain herself.

Before she could say anything else, Arnav quickly strode away.

Khushi cringed a little at the sound of the door banging shut and resumed to finish off the coffee in her mug.

Khushi sat on the sofa, after eating a protein bar, thinking. She decided she needed to go out for some groceries. The man had absolutely nothing to eat in this huge expensive apartment. The fridge was empty; the cupboards had some tasteless crackers and eww protein bars.

She started to make a list of things she wanted to get and needed since she had not brought everything with her. Completing her list, she made a call at the number she was given, if she needed to driver to go out.

When the driver got there, Khushi made him leave the car and walk instead to the store. She was in the city. No way was she going to skip the walk through the crowd and busy streets in a car.

Khushi couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the outrageous prices of the produces, dairy and everything else in the store.

" Hai devi maiyya, yeh sub adi keemat milta tha ghar pe" she talked to herself.

She picked up some fruits, veggies and other few things she needed to cook tonight, deciding to leave the rest for the angry Raizada to buy, it's his house anyways.
