Scene 23 Part 1
Hansa was awfully quiet. She was listening to Shamita and Naina discussing the interview.
'Ma Anandi ka Bal vivah hua tha? How horrible' she said with disgust on her face
'bechari, pata nahi uskay ma baap nay aise kaise uski zindagi dau per laga di? she continued
'Kithni umer ki hogi? maine suna hai ki 5 saal ki bachiyon ki bhi shadi ker dethay hain. Oh my God , Dolly jithni!
The very thought made Naina shudder with fear and disgust. Being a mother she could not understand how one can give their little girl to a stranger and expect her to become a wife?
Shamita was looking at Naina worried. She knew what Naina was saying but at the same time she understood the mentality of such parents who do give their daughter away at such a tender age in marriage.
'naina, ye ek aisi bemari hai jo sadhiyon sey jad pakad chuki hai. ek din main khatam honay wali cheez nahi hai ye' said Shamita
'aaj bhi Rajasthan kay kai gaon main ye reeth nibhayi jathi hai' said Shamita
'Han ma lekin, dekhiye iska nateeja. Ithni achi ladki hai Anandi. Uskay maa baap kay wajay sey, aur sirf uskay maa baap nahi , uska jo pati tha, uskay ma baap nay kaise do bachon ki zindagiyan barbaad ker di' Said Naina with disgust.
'Abhi umer hi kya hui hai Anandi ki. Is umer main tho kayi ladkiyan shahar main shadiyan kerthi hain… aur aaj us galthi ki vajay sey shiv bhaiyah…..' Then Naina stopped suddenly and looked at Hansa with fear.
She knew that she shouldn't have mentioned Shiv's name. She looked at Hansa to say something.
Hansa remained quiet.
After a few minutes of silence
'Anandi nay ye shadhi khatm nahi ki..' she said finally
Naina and Shamita were surprised at this statement. They knew themselves that Anandi could not have done wrong but they wanted Hansa to make her stand clear.
'Agar Anandi nay shadi khatm kernay ki pehal ki hothi tho, uskay sasural walay uska saath nahi dethay. Aur jis tarah uskay sasural walay uskay saath hain aur jo lagav dekha hai maine Anandi aur uskay parivar walon kay beech main—ithna tho samaj aatha hai ki, Anandi ki galthi nahi ho sakthi' said Hansa glaring thoughtfully at the empty sofa on her opposite side.
Shamita and Naina waited for Hansa to continue.
Hansa then looked at them
'Shiv nay bhi yahi dekha hoga' She said with her voice shaking
A tear rolled in her eyes
'Bhabi kya hua?
'BHabi , Shiv aapkay khilaf kabhi nahi jayega. Agar aapko Anandi, shiv ki patni kay roop main nahi chahiye tho voh, kabhi bhi ye kadam nahi utayega. Ithna tho aapko bharosa hona chahiye apnay betay per' said Shamita putting her hand on Hansa's shoulders
Hansa wiped her tears. She felt lighter, as if a huge boulder hand been lifted from her heart.
'Nahi shamita, meray batay nay mera vishwas nahi thoda' Said Hansa tearfully
Shamita looked at Naina confused.
What was Hansa trying to say?
'Bhabi…?'
'Shamita, Kal jab ye pata chala tha ki Anandi talaq shuda hai, mujhe shiv per bohot gussa aya tha. Ki aise kaise voh ek ladki jo talaq shuda hai, usey pasand kerna shuru ker day.
Pehli baar mujhe Shiv kay faislay sey takleef hui. lekin aaj mujhe samaj aa raha hai ki galthi meri hai. Meri samajh main hain. Main apnay betay ki pasand jaanker bhi anjaan reh gayi' Said Hansa
Shamita and Naina continued to look at her confused.
'Anandi main voh saray gun hai jo shiv apnay jeevan sathi main chahtha hai' Said Hansa..
'Tayiji , aapnay bilkul sahih kaha. Patience, calm, intellegience, brave ye sari qualities tho Anandi main bohot hain. Aur aisi combination milna bohot mushkil hain'
Hansa nodded.
'Shiv ko isiliye Anandi bha gayi aur talaq shuda hothay hue bhi usnay uskay in gunon ko dekha uskay atheeth ko nahi' Said Hansa
'Sach baat ye hai ki , Anandi kay ye saray gun maine pehlay hi bhaamp liye thay lekin, jhoot nahi bolungi, uskay talaq shuda hongay ki khabr sunnay ke baad mujhe uskay saray gun chotay- aur uska atheeth bada nazar aanay laga tha. Mujhe pata tha ki Anandi ki galthi nahi hogi lekin fir bhi ek dart ha dil main' Said Shamita
'Lekin aaj, is sachayi kay samnay aanay kay baad, ki voh ek balika vadhu thi, meray dil kay saray darr khatm ho chukain hain' Said Hansa with a slight relief
Shamita and Naina smiled
'Sach bhabi, Anandi ko aap apnanay ke liye tayyar hain?' she asked excitedly
Hansa nodded
'Lekin meray apnanay sey kuch nahi honay wala. Voh tayyar nahi hai' said Hansa
Her words deflated the balloon that had rose up in the hearts of Shamita and Naina
'kiyun?' asked Naina
Hansa remained silent.
'ithna asaan nahi hai, apnay atheeth ko bhula ker ek aur naya rishtha jodhna' said Hansa
'Lekin bhabi aap baat tho karengi na? Shiv aur Anandi sey?' asked Shamita with a hint of desperation in her voice
'Nahi' Said Hansa
Shamita and Naina looked at her surprised
'Shiv khudh kahega aur voh bhi sabkay saamnay' said Hansa smiling
Scene 23 Part 2
It was later that evening. Everyone had returned home. Shamita and Naina had filled everyone into Shiv-Anandi story. Ishika was the most excited with the news.
'OH MY GOD!!!! YES YES. MOM maan gayi! yes awesome! Anandi banegi meri bhabi! YES' Said Ishika doing a small dance in her room when Naina spilled the beans to her
'SHHH
said Naina. Agar Anandi nay sun liya na!' she warned Ishika
'Nice! Anandi ji is perfect. Mujhe voh achi lagthi hain. Bilkul shiv bhaiyyah ki tarah hain' said Ikshu to rithul.
Rithul had not spared a single moment. He went right away to Ikshu to inform him the latest news at their house.
Shamita and Hansa has told Neel and Hasit respectively.
Both were happy with their decision. They all agreed that Anandi would be a perfect fit for Shiv. They also felt that Anandi's past has nothing to do with her present. It was not her fault. what ever had happened was a misfortune and they were pleasantly satisfied with the fact that Anandi's inlaws have such good attachment with her.
Hansa then explained to Hasit and Neel the plan
'Oh wow!' screamed Ishika as Naina repeated the very same to her
'This is going to be fun to watch' said Ikshu on the other hand.
It was 7:30 PM in the evening. Anandi and Shiv had arrived and the dinner table was all set. Anandi could notice that the other family members were avoiding her gaze.
'aaj ka meeting kaisa raha' asked Neel, who had also joined the table today.
Shamita was feeding him as he could not move his arms much.
'Teekh tha chachu' said Shiv.
Shiv was silent. He wanted to know what his mother was thinking after yesterday's revelation. He knew that some of the members of the family knew about his liking towards Anandi but what about his mother? Did she have and inkling and if yes what is her reaction towards it after yesterday's episode?
After Dinner they went to the living room and sat together as usual. Ishika, ikshu were sharing a sofa seat. Shiv, Rithul were sitting on one, Naina and Anandi on the opposite side. Shamita and Hansa with Hasit and Neel were sharing separate sofas.
'Suniye' Said Hansa to Hasit
'Maine socha hai ki is December tak main Shiv ki shadi ker dun' said Hansa
Shiv started coughing a little
Of all the topics, he did not expect his mother to speak about this one today!
'Han kiyun nahi. Ladkiyan tho dekh rahi hona? Said Hasit
'ji lekin, kuch sahih nahi lagi' Said Hansa
'Shiv beta, maine ye faisla kiya hai ki main thumhari shadi vahin karungi jahan per thum kush rahogay.' said Hansa
At these words a smile appeared on Shiv's face.
'Aisi ladki jiskay saath thum comfortable ho. Jisko thum pasand kerthay hain' said Hansa
Shiv right away looked at Anandi and saw her turning her face away from him and concentrating on the food.
He looked at his mother. His eyes encouraged her to continue…
'maine ye faisla kiya hai thumhari shadi Ashima sey karun' Said Hansa
Shiv's face color faded. He went into a complete shock!
'Mom! Ashi!. Ye aap kya keh rahi hain? asked Shiv shocked
'Kiyun? THum tho ashi ko bohot pasand kerthay hona? aur tho aur ikhate pade ho..aur
Shiv interrupted her
'Mom please. Ashi sirf meri ek achi dost hai aur kuch nahi' said Shiv trying to explain his point of view
'Han beta lekin, behtar nahi hai kit hum ussey shadi karo jo thumhay pasand kerthi ho? asked Hansa
'Mom Ashi mujhe sirf ek acha dost manthi hai' reasoned Shiv
'Kiyun Anandi. Thumhara kya khayal hai. Thum Ashima sey mili ho. kiya thumhay nahi lagtha ki Ashima aur Shiv saath kush raheingay? she asked her
'Ji bilkul. Ashimaji bohot achi hain aur main janthi hun ki voh Shiv ji ko bohot pasand kerthi hain' Said Anandi
Shiv looked shocked and surprised at Anandi. When did she find out that Ashi liked her?
'Dekha Anandi bhi yahi keh rahi hai. Shiv maan jao' Said Hansa
Everyone looked at Hansa-Anandi-Shiv as if they were watching a tennis match.
'Maine ashima sey bhi baat ker li hai. Voh tayyar hain shadi ke liye' said Hansa
'WHAT?!' said Shiv shocked.
'Mom ye aap..aapnay aisa kiyun kya' he said with pain in his voice
'Main ashima sey shadi nahi ker saktha hun' he continued
'Lekin kiyun?' asked Hansa
'Anandi thum ho samjaho isey' said Hansa
'ji Shivji .. Ashima bohot achi ladki hain. Khoobsorat hain, dil ki saaf hai , pyari hai aur aapko bohot pasand bhi kerthi hain' said Anandi trying to convince him
Shiv got up and came to the place where his mother was sitting. She was just to the right of Anandi and Naina.
'Mom please aap samajhiye. Ashima yahan India main nahi reh sakthi. Jis tarah sey main kaam kertha hun, aur jahan main jatha hun, voh adjust nahi ker payegi. Aur ussey bhi badi baat main use apna sabsey acha dost mantha hun lekin shadi nahi ker saktha' Said Shiv desperately
Hansa looked at Anandi trying to tell to convince shiv
' lekin Shiv ji, pichli dafa jab voh aayin thi aapnay dekha na ki kithnay lagav aur mehnat sey unhonay aapnay rang main dhalnay ki koshih ki. Voh ker lengi Shiv ji aap unhay mouka tho day' Said Anandi
Shiv was getting irritated and frustrated with Anandi's suggestions
He ignored her words and looked at his mother
'Main jantha hun use. Aur main uskay saath aisa kaise ker saktha hun. Jab maine usey us nazar sey kabhi nahi dekha, tho main kaise…? said shiv
Hansa again indicated Anandi to reason with him
'Shiv ji dosti hi pehla kadam hotha hai pyar ki taraf. Voh aapko bohot achay tarah samajhthi hain aur aap bhi dheeray dheeray unsey pyar kernay lagengay. Voh aapkay liye…'Said Anandi but was interrupted by Shiv
'Aap zara chup rahengi' he thundered
Anandi looked at him SHOCKED
he then pulled her hand and got up and pulled her up with him.
'Main Ashima sey pyar nahi kertha..main thumsey pyar kertha hun Anandi!
phir main kaise ussey shadi ker saktha hun!' Shouted SHIV
Everyone in the room remained silent.
Anandi looked at him flabbergasted. Her mind went blank.
It was a full minute before she pulled her hand from his grasp and looked at his mother. She was clearly embarrassed and humiliation was etched on her face.
Anandi just then left the living room and ran towards her room in a hurry.
Shiv looked dumbstruck at his own statement and looked at Anandi helplessly.
He then looked at his mother in an accusatory manner.
Hansa then looked at shamita with a satisfied smile on her face. She then remembred her conversation with Ashima earlier.
'Ashi beta, do you know if shiv has mentioned to you that he likes Anandi? asked Hansa
Ashi was hurt with this question though she knew that it was about time she accepted Shiv does not love her. She also remembered how it was her who suggested that Anandi was perfect for him. Ashi assured Hansa that she does not love shiv and that he is her best friend. If Shiv likes Anandi then it would be the best thing for her as Anandi was a perfect choice for him.
Hansa then told her about the incidents that had happened at home.
'There is only one way aunty. you have to make shiv confess his love to Anandi. Anandi needs to know what Shiv feels for her in open, only then even the thought of their marriage is possible' said Ashi
Hansa thanked Ashi for her idea and said she would call her later.
