Thanks for such a wonderful analysis dear. Yes, she never expected anything from him. Somewhere he knew but he could not fathom her giving away Hope. He did not realize the importance of the house to her or depth of her insecurities and pain. Hope this will be an eye opener and give him a reality check about what he needs to achieve to have someone like Geet in his life. She is extraordinary so he has to be extraordinary now.

Thanks dear for posting your response finally….i am glad you like the FF. Well I try to draw from realistic scenarios and hence probably it comes across a realistic portrayal…glad you like it. As to Geet's character….hmmm it is a mix of probably some of my own realized and not realized dreams…except for the emotional baggage as I had a love marriage. LOL….I am an engineer, love to ride bikes (though not such expensive ones) and love painting and I sometime wonder if I pursued my career as an engineer and not as an artist. But yes, Geet is exceptional because she has much more patience and mental strength than me.

Thanks dear…yes she is depressed and her optimism has deserted her making her very negative or I would say scared of more pain. Only thing is maan never shared with her the importance of Hope in his life. Just told her when he met first time, that it was good and will like to buy. After that also, Maan brought hope home only after Geet packed it after marriage. On the flip side, Geet never told him abt the house or her fascination with it…so I guess they need to speak out and express more. Let's see what happens going forward.

Chapter – 36

Maan stood like a statue trying to process her words and the pain behind them. He knew he had made a mistake of maybe using wrong choice of words. He had not realized the depth of those words and the amount of pain they had caused her by touching wrong chords. His heart screamed that this is not what he wanted to say. He cared for her and it was his love which made him lash out at her.

Not able to stand the silence anymore, he stormed to the gardens to breathe fresh air. How was he going to fix it? He was surprised at how she thought and for the first time realized how insecure she must be.

How was he going to make her understand that she was not just a mere responsibility? That she was his responsibility but not a burden. That she was his responsibility not because of a mere name of their relationship but because if something happened to her, it will happen to him too. How will he explain that they were not separate anymore and this was not just a namesake or compromise but a true relationship?

All those words with fine line of difference between them. All those words and he had failed in making her understand what he truly wanted to say. She had assumed wrong because of their past. But when did he share his present with her. It was all just shadows of past which lay in between them. He had shouted at her…been so harsh but not because he was a man or her husband but because he thought he had right on her out of love. But what was her fault when he had himself stripped these rights away.

He sank down with his head caught in between his hands. He will have to talk to her. He will have to explain it to her. He will do whatever it takes and he hoped that her sensitivity and maturity will help him.

Meanwhile, Geet felt suffocated in their so called room. She felt as if four walls were closing onto her as Maan's words played like a tape in her mind. She drank a glass of water to calm down her anger and walked back downstairs.

Daadima had tears seeing her children fight like that especially both being so mature. She had never thought things will pan out like this and Geet's words. She just could not understand them. Meera tried to console her as Dev went out to see his brother.

They both rushed to Geet as she walked back looking a little collected.

"Beta hum jaante hain Maan ne gusse mein bahut kuch kaha aapko. Lekin please hum samjhate hain unhein. Woh aise hi hain, bilkul calm but when he gets angry…"

[I know dear that Maan said a lot in anger. But I will make him understand. He is like that only. Very calm but when he gets angry…]

Geet smiled slightly. "It's ok Daadima. I…I want to go home…I mean I am missing mom a lot right now."

"Yeh kya keh rahi ho Geet…Tum mujhe samjha rahi thi us din aur aaj khud hi….how can you leave…"

[What are you saying Geet…you were making me understand that day and now you yourself…how can you leave…]

Meera's words rubbed her in the wrong way. Yes she had explained to her but she was at the end of her patience. Moreover their relationship was not the same and Meera's words once again questioned her one sided love and existence in Maan's life.

Geet cut her in the middle – "You are misunderstanding me Meera. I will come back tomorrow. I just need to meet mom and be away for some time to get my thoughts together. Please Daadima"

Daadima's heart pained as she touched her feet and walked away silently.

"Meera, go and tell Maan."

Meera just nodded and went to the garden.

Maan was shocked to hear that Geet left as he had never expected her to take a step like that.

He went numb as Meera hurriedly explained that Geet will come back next day.

Like a broken man, he walked to his bedroom. No one including Daadima knew what to say to him. Maan sat in the dark room all alone thinking about what just happened. "Maine itna dil dukhaya uska lekin usne kabhi mera saath nahi choda. Phir aaj jab mein uske liye hi lad raha tha us se toh…."

[I hurt her so many times but she never left my side. Then today when I was fighting her for herself she…]

He tried to understand her behavior. He remembered his own words he had told Dev when he had fought with Meera.

"Nahi meri Geet aisi nahi hai par shayad aaj uske sabar ka baandh toot gaya. Uski jagah koi aur hota toh yeh bahut pehle ho jaata lekin…I have given her lot of pain but today she just could not bear it anymore. Kal jab woh aayegi toh I will apologize for my behavior. Shayad sab ke saamne mujhe us se aise baat nahi karni chaiye thi. I will make it up to her. Make it up for every moment of pain.

Waise bhi I was making Dev understand. But when did I communicate to her what was in my heart. I did not say anything to her about my feelings and now without any explanation I spoke to her so rudely. It is not her fault that she did not understand me. I did the same mistake as Dev did.

How will she know when I didn't talk sensibly with her? I did not tell her what I feel for her. I never told her what I felt about "Hope" and what it means to me. And probably I did not even understand what that house meant to her. "Dream House"….Geet called it her dream house. I never bothered about her dreams…how could I… when I could not even grasp the reality of her insecurities."

[No my Geet is not like this but maybe today her patience gave away. If it was someone else in her place, it would have happened long time ago. I have given her lot of pain but today she just could not bear it anymore. When she will return tomorrow, I will apologize for my behavior. Maybe I should not have spoken to her so rudely in front of everyone. I will make it up to her. Make it up for every moment of pain.

Geet went to her room where Rano followed her with juice. She was startled to see Geet hiding her face in pillow and crying uncontrollably.

Rano hurried to her – "Kya hua Geet…tu aise kyon ro rahi hai?"

[What happened Geet…why are you crying like this?]

Geet hugged her mom and broke down completely. She told her about how she sold off "Hope" to buy her dream house and Maan's fight with her because of that.

Rano was shocked to hear all of it. "Yeh sab kya hai Geet…Ghar khareedna kya bachon ka khel hai. Itni badi investment tumne bina kisi se puche hi kar li?"

[What is this Geet…Buying house is not a child's play. You did such a big investment without asking anyone?]

"Mom"

"Ismein Maan ki kya galti hai. He cares for you isiliye toh tumhein kuch kaha unhone aur tum ulta lad ke aa gayi? I did not expect this from you"

[What is Maan's mistake in this? He cares for you and that is why he said something to you and instead of understanding, you fought with him? I did not expect this from you.]

"It is not that mom. Maybe you are right but it was my dream house. Why can't anyone understand that even you. I don't know what I did was right or not. But….I just can't take it any more. Kya mein itni buri hoon ki he can't love me. All I ever wanted was his love"

"Geet!!!"

"I tried to understand mom when he told me he still loves Poonam and needs time…he never accepted me as his wife, I kept quite…I accepted him as mine but today I felt like a burden mom….I felt like just a burden and nothing more."

Before Rano could react she was startled to see Mohinder standing there.

"Aap…aaiye…hum log bas…."

[You…come…we were just…]

But Rano stopped seeing his expression. Geet also stood up in horror as she watched her father face full of pain, agony and rage.

their relationship is becoming more complex as maan didn't confessed his love, concern towards her , the meaning of his words was not like that, she was his responsibility but not a mere responsibility not a burden, but geet was not also at fault, how can she understand the meaning of his words, when she didn't know about his feelings... maan was feeling guilty as usual ab pachhtaye ka faida kya jab chidiya chug gayi khet... hehehe...
