😉😃 AISH was the queen of PERIOD films with Devdas, Jodhaa Akbar, Chokher Bali, Guru, etc. She made it look easy. However, can there be a NEW QUEEN of PERIOD films in this generation? 😕 I can't imagine the latest actresses attempting to do a PERIOD film. It requires a certain look and grace which none of them have. Sonam, forget it. Asin, the less said the better. 😆 Deepika, maybe. 😲 Anuskha could be the only hope or Parineeti. What about Bebo and Priyanka, or even KAT? 🤣 Nope, who am I kidding. 😳 Is Vidya the only hope? 👏

And DIRECTORS are hardly making PERIOD films these days. They are big budget and lavish productions, require years of homework and preparation. Please share your thoughts. Can there be a NEW QUEEN of PERIOD films?! 😲

Sonam could be the next hope if she went to an acting school and brushed up her emoting skills as well as dialouge delivery. Bebo and Vidya too though both need to focus on aquiring a grace in the way they walk. All these three need to brush up their dancing skills. Deepika could fit in too. I cannot imagine Anushka, Parineeti or Katrina in certain type of roles though. PC has spoilt her face beyond recognition. Basically most of them could fit in provided they are ready to work hard for the role and the director too is ready to be the guide to them.

^ agreed.. Priyanka could've had a go

but now she looks unnatural in everything.. I even had a hard time watching her in the 1910 bit of Teri Meri Kahaani, its unconvincing

Sorry but no. Nobody does it better than aishwarya in period movies. Besides having good acting and dancing skills,she has a quaint old world charm,innocent looks and infinite amounts of grace,elgance. She even overshadowed THE Madhuri in Devdas/Dola re. That says it all for me...

thinking outside of the box here... I think shipa shetty, diya mirza, Lara dutt, and sushmita sen have amazing grace... apart from diya... they are all amazing dancers as well.

sonam was good in sawaryaa as well... not as great as Aish... but good enough.. but then she didn't have that many screen time..

Vidya and bebo are talented actress... if they get trained... I don't think learning how to be graceful is that hard. Obviously they can't be as good as Aish... but if they try they can at least look decent.

Deepika.. yes def a good choice... she's has grace and she is an amazing dancer.

Not sure about Anuska.

PC... like someone mentioned she ruined her face. But she is graceful even though I don't think she is that of a great dancer.

in terms of dancing skills... Aish only had dola re in Devdas that required a lot of dancing... I don't think Vidya and bebo are that horrible in dancing. I have seen both of do good dancing when they try hard.

But to be honest... we can't really be sure until we see all the actresses in these roles to say who can be the next Aish.

Aand then why are we looking for the next Aish. I can't believe her own fans think she's done. Aish is def coming back. She has to.

Someone who has to do historical roles should be graceful, poised and most important have a good voice and excellent dialogue delivery...From the older ones...Rekha...and from the newer ones the only one I can think of is Sushmita Sen who has all these qualities...our current actresses are all only fit to play the roles of bimbos and do item song...

Vidya Balan would be a good contender.. she's done stuff like Parineeta and Bhool Bhulaiya (though the latter wasn't period), think she's got the chops...

but she'd really need to work on her look.
