Scene 22 Part a
Anandi had turned the laptop and she returned it to shiv. She noticed that shiv was looking at his mother with a worried expression. Anandi squinted her eyes but she brushed the thought away.
'Meri agar zaroorat ho tho mujhe bula dijiyega. Main chalthi hun' Said Anandi
'Kal subah meetings attend kernay hain' said Anandi to shiv
She waited for someone to respond to her but when there was none she decided to turn in. As she left the room , she realized that the entire room was unusally silent. The eyes of many of the family members were following her. She imagined that it was due to todays' events and put her thoughts to rest.
Hansa looked at Shamita. Her face reflected the pain and worry she was feeling.
How could shiv do this to her? Her trust was shaken to the core.
Considering the day's events, Hansa was already facing a lot of stress. Though the matter of Shiv liking Anandi was not out in the open, it was still quite visible to the entire family with the exception of Neel and Hasit.
Naina and Shamita had a conversation just the previous day about this matter and she knew!...she KNEW ! that something was not right with Anandi. Her lack of expressions or feelings towards Shiv were obvious.
Ishika was the first one to speak. Being the youngest of the siblings she had the knack of saying the right things at the worst timings.
'Anandi ji'shadhi shuda hai? she asked shiv
Everyone was even more stunned at her questioning than the revelation itself that had happened few minutes ago. As if her statement was making a thought into a fact.
'Humnay tho socha tha ki Anandi ji '.' said Ikshu turning towards shiv. He did not know what to say.
'Han , Anandi shadhi shuda hai' said Shiv
'Lekin'' he said but was interrupted by Shamita
'kya? lekin maine uskay mang main sindoor nahi dekha' said Shamita remembering the enounters with Anandi. If she had worn sindoor it would be very evident.
'Unka talaq ho chukka hai. Haal hi main hua tha' said Shiv
Hansa suddenly got up . Her face was constricted with anger.
'Mom suniye tho'' said Shiv trying to stop her
'Raat bohot ho chuki hai. Abh humain sona chahiye' she said authoritatively
'Leking mom bhaiyyah ki baat tho sun lethay hain pehlay' said Ishika
'Thum nay suna nahi maine kya kaha' thundered Hansa
Ishika went silent.
'bhabi..' said Shamita
Hansa looked at her. The pain in her eyes was very evident. Shamita understood that , at this moment, any discussions about this topic would just create more problems. She decided to let go.
Hasit was looking at Hansa confused. He was unaware of the situation but he decided to let go.
'Neel kay baray main pareshan hogi' he thought to himself as he left towards his room followed by Hansa.
Shiv stood up while everyone was leaving the living room. He did not know what to tell them. He wished Rithul and Naina were home. They always understood his feelings and helped him clear out the air.
'I hope voh Anandi ji kay baray main kuch galat na sochain' thought shiv to himself. He was more worried about this than anything.
The next morning Hansa was making tea when shamita came in.
'BHabi.. she said tentatively
Hansa remained silent and did not say much.
'Bhabi, kal raat .. aap' said Shamita not knowing how to start the topic, but hansa's continued silence told her that she did not want to talk much. Shamita went to help Hansa in silence.
Soon Anandi also had entered into the kitchen. She helped them with breakfast but she could notice that something was wrong.
'Abhi Neel ji kaise hain? she asked Hansa and Shamita
'teekh hain' said Shamita smiing
Hansa just nodded and went back to work. Anandi look at shiv's mother and knew that something was not right, but she thought that Hansa must be worried about Neel.
At the breakfast table the unusal silence continued as everyone left to their work, shiv told Anandi to reach the car. Before she could remind him to take leave from his mother, Shiv had left to the door.
Anandi looked at him and then decided to go to Hansa and Shamita
'hum aathay hain' she said, taking their leave.
As soon as Anandi left the door shamita looked at Hansa and noticed that her eyes were on Anandi. They had a calculating look. Shamita knew that Hansa was a very responsible human being. She never judged a person based on heresay.
'BHabi.. aap kya soch rahi hain? Chup kiyun hai' asked Shamita
Hansa looked at Shamita deciding if she wanted to talk ?
'Shamita , main shiv kay baray main soch rahi thi. Voh ithna galat kaise ho saktha hai' She asked desperately
Shamita looked at her and waited for her to continue
'Talaq shuda?' she asked her voice etched with pain
'BHabi main bhi is baat sey hairan hun, ki Shiv nay ..' said shamita thoughtfully
'mujha ithna tho pata hai ki Shiv aise hi kisi ko pasand bhi nahi ker saktha' added shamita
Hansa remained quiet
'Jinsey Anandi nay baat ki kal voh uskay maaykay walay hain na? said shamita
'Nahi 'sasural hai uska' said Hansa
Shamita looked at her questioningly
'Us bachay nay Anandi ko Bhabisa bulaya tha aur voh Anandi kay tauji ka beta hai. Iska matlab hai ki jisey Anandi bapusa kehthi hai voh uskay sasur hain' Said Hansa thoughtfully
Just then Naina had arrived with Rithul
She ran to Shamita and asked her about Neel. Rithul hugged his mom. Seeing them both Shamita was reminded of yesterday's incident. They assured her that everything is well now and that Neel was recovering. Then they left with Shamita to visit Neel , who was resting in his room.
It was 12:30 PM later that day. Shamita had informed Naina about the incidents of the house. The shot, doctors's visit, Anandi's help and finally the touch of Anandi's past.
Naina was shocked
'Ma mujhe nahi lagtha ki Anandi ki koi bhi galthi hogi uski shadi kay tootnay main. aapnay dekha nahi usko, kithni achi hain' reasoned Naina.
'Mujhe bhi yahi lagtha hai, lekin bhabi pareshan hain. Mujhe nahi lagtha ki voh kush hai. Voh shiv sey bohot naraaaz hain' said shamita worried
'Ma humain unhay convince kerna chahiye. Shiv bhaiyyah Anandi ko pasand kerthay hain aur humnay bhi dekha hai ki voh achi hain tho kya hua agar talaq hui ho tho? asked Naina
'Naina.. Talaq hona koi choti baat tho nahi hai ' Said Shamita a bit sternly.
'ye faisla hum unper hi chodthay hain'
'Lekin ma.. Pata tho ker sakthay hain na ki kya wajay thi Talaq ki? asked Naina
Shamita remaind silent thinking about Naina's suggestion.
Scene 22 Part b
Naina was sitting with Shamita and Hansa in the living room. They had just attended to Neel who was feeling much better. He was still resting in his room. They were waiting for the return of everyone.
To any passerby it might have seemed like any other ordinary day Shiv's residence but to the people living inside there was a noticeable change. As if someone had come and twisted their hearts.
A lot had happened in the past two days. The head pillar of the family, Hansa has been shaken deeply. She always was known to keep her calm and even after such trial , she did keep her cool. The family members always turned to her for emotional support in times of troubles. They knew that no matter what, Hansa would easily handle the situation and not only that, she would actually make the entire problem seem insignificant.
Today was different. There was worry etched in her face. She loved her son very much and trusted him. His actions and judgements have always been correct in the past but his attraction towards a girl , who has past was something that she could not digest. It was not as if she was disapproving the marriage of a divorcee but it was more about what if something similar to that nature happened to her son.
She was confused and even disliking herself to presume things about a girl from whom she has seen nothing but goodness. It would be wrong for her judge that girl based on a fact that she is a divorcee but at the same time, she could not deny her inner fears.
Naina and Shamita were throwing glances at each other. Each trying to find a way to disscuss but looking at the lost look in Hansa's face , they stopped themselves.
Absentmindedly , just to do something and to get away from from her thought process, Hansa turned on the television.
She flipped the channels and then as she was flashing by she noticed someone like shiv. Immediately she changed the channel back to that very channel where she saw Shiv surrounded by the Media.
'Ma, Shiv bhaiyyah' exclaimed Naina
Shamita looked at the screen and her facial expressions changed to delight.
'Bhabi dekhiye' she said
Hansa waited for the reporters to ask the questions.
The reporter were asking about how he managed to stop the marriage single handedly and stop the bal vivah from happening. Shiv responded to them the nature of its emergency and when they credited him to the efforts, he modestly pointed that the Sarpanch of Jetsar was the one who had rushed off to save Jyothi from getting married.
The reporters then gathered around Anandi who was talking about the ill-effects of Bal vivah
'Ma, Anandi kithna kuch ker gayi' said Naina astonished
'Sahih kaha naina thumnay' said Shamita equally astonished
They both turned and looked at Hansa and found her seriously engrossed in the conversation
Soon they saw a rude reporter come towards Anandi and arguing with her
'kithni batameezi sey baat ker raha hai ye' said Naina
'shhh' said shamita
The reporter was asking her how does she know what bal vivah is and how can she be the authority on this.
'Main ye keh sakthi hun kiyunki main khudh ek balika vadhu hun' echoed Anandi's voice
To this Shamita led out an audible gasp and looked at Hansa. She noticed pain her face.
As soon as that question had finished the reporters asked her if she had gone through similar pain. Was she infact telling her own story? Did her husband leave her as well for someone else? How did she manage to get out of that phase?
Then Hansa saw Shiv pull Anandi away..
