A very good episode today. And I think it was very well balanced too. After the episode on disability, this felt among the most uplifting and inspiring episodes.
Of course, we are guilty of ignoring our parents or considering them a burden...
If parents can bear with all our weaknesses, sickness, quirks, mischief and blunders from infancy to growing years, then why can't we take care of them?
I am glad Satyamev Jayate took up this issue. It would have been incomplete if they had not raised this one.
I was especially happy to see them highlight various ways how elderly can still enjoy their lives, live to the fullest and develop new talents, achieve more in life without letting age discourage them. It was absolutely necessary to show what Aamir's show did. Nowadays, I notice people losing their zest for life from around the age of 35-40 itself!
I don't know why ageing is considered so bad and why so many stereotypes abound! Why does one have to be panicky at any sign of ageing? Or start thinking he/she can do nothing?
I think more and more shows like Satyamev Jayate are needed to change people's warped mindset. Even when shown positive examples, people barely get inspired and only think the other achiever is strong-willed or special, but they are not like him, so they can't be like him!
It's depressing to see parents scared of retirement or resigning themselves to ''fate'' and leaving even their hobbies due to ''old age'' and just waiting for death to come or praying hard that they pass away peacefully!
But I am shocked at low response on social media. And some outlandish stuff like this tweet which said some parents are ''responsible'' for their ''own'' abandonment!! -
There is NO excuse for abandoning your parent (unless he/she does criminal acts such as sexually abusing a child in family!). How can anyone say parents ''invite'' their abandonment?! That's like saying women invite or ''ask for'' rape!🤢
