Says actor Drasti Dhami, refuting rumours of a secret marriage
Drasti Dhami, seen on the TV show Madhubala (on Colors), is the latest victim of showbiz's rumour mills. Recently, there were reports about her dating NRI businessman Neeraj Khemka for two years and an impending marriage.
When asked about it, the actor jokingly says, "I will get married when I get Ranbir Kapoor. I want to marry him." On a serious note, she admits to being friends with Neeraj, but insists there is nothing more to their bond.
"I usually hang out with a group of friends and I don't know why one person is singled out. I understand rumours are part of the industry. But why bring his name up for no reason?" she says.
Drasti is irked by the fact that people think she would actually hide any news of her marriage for the sake of her career. Ask her if she thinks marriage can affect the popularity of a TV actor, and she says, "I don't think it really matters. Karan Singh Grover and Jennifer Winget got married recently; I don't think their fan base has been affected. Tomorrow if I get married, I don't see any reason to hide it from people. Marriage isn't a crime. I don't understand how such reports come about in the first place."
Nevertheless, the actor says she is flattered with all the attention.
"I feel like Kareena Kapoor! Just like her marriage date has been predicted so many times, there have been so many reports of my marriage dates as well. For all you know, the next report could be about me delivering twins," she says.
Drasti claims her prime focus right now is her show: "I want to make it the number one show on TV."
