Fantastic post shaun. The same reason why we watch when the male lead twists the gal s arms or pins her against the wall in anger while he says how he hates her etc but there is romantic music playing in the background 😕. This pratha is continuing from a long time on indian tv. We are a weird bunch of people we have watched the same story from time immemorial a girl who is married under strange circumstances to the guy and how the entire clan - her devrani jethani mother in law her nanad dont like her initially they play tricks on her get her in trouble but slowly the girl endures all the torture physical emotional mental makes not only her husband but the entire family fall in love with her. That s 80 percent serials for you. Why we watch it??? Coz we dont have a choice if you start watching a show which tries to focus on a social issue within 3 months its back to a drama for trp . Drama is the only thing that sells on indian tv

I really like ur topic...finally there is someone with some common sense.
I saw this Star plus awards show...and there some famous characters where saying...that these days people say they want a DIL like Gopi and there where nominations for favo patni and pati etc.
I was like really???? Do people want also in real life? And if YES then these tv serials are having a bad effect... can u believe that a Saas is going to expect that her DIL should be like Gopi???? Where s she going to fins someone like this? And a hubby like Ahem???? really???
All this hot couples and sweet swet thing looks good on tv and is cute but in really life its all not true.
And if channels like starplus are giving awards to these characters then i am sorry but its going nooo where...AND jitna bhi hum kahe that we are not like them etc. BUT we do get angry if our favo character doesnt get an award...why becuz we believe in that character.
And I am scared that women who do watch these shows want there DIL to be like these characters becuz we have accepted them...but this is puur nonsens becuz the actors who are playing these rolls adont even believe in there characters they are totally the opposit

to be honest...i don't watch many indian shows to begin with. I tend to stay away from saas bahu stuff especially...the only reason i started watching Saathiya was cuz my parents would be watching it whenever i would go visit them. For me such shows are too slow paced and i don't have the patients lol...also i never liked how they always make the bahus such pushover. They are always sacrificing and everyone else just takes advantage of them.

Saathiya is the only saas bahu show i watch...that cuz i liked Rashi's character (minus her kalkaries) and found koki's character interesting. But the show itself was always on and off for me. Honestly, i used to watch this show called Preeto, but it started going downhill (eventually the channel shut down)...then i heard the lead couple of Saathiya will finally make some progress in their relationship. And i was just curious...so i started watching it (from Holi episode). But then Anita thing happened...and I kept waiting for Gopi to stand up for herself but didn't happen...and it dragged for so long...that i lost interest again. After Anita track ended, i started watching it again cuz i had nothing better to do with my time😆

The only reason i watch it now is cuz Gohem/Raji are finally moving forward...and i feel that the show will wrap up soon.
