To a certain extent, it is fine to focus on looks. Everyone enjoys good looking stars. But plot, story, acting, etc also do matter in a show. I think the television shows these days tend to be catered to a younger more immature audience that is more fixated on looks and hot couples rather than substance or character. They are young, don't know better and focus on shallow obsessions. Hopefully, when they get older most will realize how silly these obsessions are and think of more important things.
