Daily Soap Discussions : Why should looks matter?

I have been wanting to speak on this issue...and i am glad i found this space to say it...

I am amazed that how on so many discussions, regarding a track/character of a show, gets skewed/diluted on he looks and not the character he/she plays.

How a bad guy gets his actions justified or his fans hope that the character will reform just because he looks good.

From krishna's loafer act in beginning of the show "pratigya"...to kabir in the most recent "chall sheh aur maat".

These are some of the many instances that come to my mind...

Its perfectly all right to like a hero for his looks, but shouldn't it be kept aside to discuss a show?

The show itself is not an issue for some people out there. However lame the show maybe they don't give a damn, they'll only be watching it for the male/female protagonists. (if you've been on IF for a long then I'm sure you already are aware)😆 It's a shallow world out there and more are the people living in it.

Looks sell business. That's how it works.

Lets leave the show and talk about real life - you'll see numerous people making commentary on who's unattractive and who's unappealing. From children - teenagers - to uncles and aunties. Have you ever witnessed aunties sitting around and having their daily dosage of entertainment on who's son/daughter is good-looking or unappealing ? It's sad and hard to digest how some peoples minds work, but that's humanly. We are all flawed.

its not a philosophical topic on how humans are shallow and looks paralyze human thinking.

Shall we stick to discussions on daily soaps ?

coming to topic myself,

after indian cricket team's complete failure in australia, i was criticizing a popular player on twitter.

I got a less than satisfactory "cricketing" retort from a member.

I replied and got another such reply.

This time i decided to check out the member's profile and found out that she was a hardcore fan of his looks.

The moment i said "do u like him for his looks..." her guard dropped and she said "i just love him and didn't like u blaming him alone."

well i wouldn't call her shallow...but...

To a certain extent, it is fine to focus on looks. Everyone enjoys good looking stars. But plot, story, acting, etc also do matter in a show. I think the television shows these days tend to be catered to a younger more immature audience that is more fixated on looks and hot couples rather than substance or character. They are young, don't know better and focus on shallow obsessions. Hopefully, when they get older most will realize how silly these obsessions are and think of more important things.

Voldermoth? Typo or intentional misspell of Voldemort

the thing is that looks shudnt matter people shud concentrate on the way the actor protrays a character but they dnt always do that.

me i think good looking actors in soaps = awesome ratings

from the pov of the directors etc

Let's be honest here...

Looks/appearance is probably one of the first things we notice, even in real life interactions. And this is entertainment business we're talking about...I'd need something to hold my attention when I first start watching a show, though I am not that shallow to quit a show just cause the leads lack in looks department... now, even if the storyline is crappy, but leads are a hot mess, who wouldn't wanna watch them to entertain themselves...
