Aashka has tied up with New Delhi-based hairstylist Jawed Habib as a business partner, to set up Habib's salons all over Mumbai.
Their first venture is a salon-cum-academy at Laxmi Industrial Estate, Andheri (West).
Personal growth
Says the actress, who is now shooting for B P Singh's supernatural thriller, Akela, "I always had a desire to pursue something beyond acting, not to stagnate in any one line of work.
Personal grooming is big business nowadays. Both men and women are extremely conscious about how they look, and take great care of their upkeep.
Hair and beauty centres are flourishing. A chance encounter with Jawed's aide led me to a meeting and now finally, the entire thing has taken off."

Adds Jawed, "Habib's is now a public limited company. I met Aashka through our main investor. We aim to set up 20 salons in Mumbai and Aashka is extremely enthusiastic about it."
Presently, Habib's salons are located at various Shoppers' Stop outlets in the city, but are limited by size. Aashka is visibly excited about her new role. All the new jargon about hairstyling techniques as well as business terms like franchise, area and investment are proving an exciting new journey for her.
Beauty care
"The Andheri salon is already operational. It also has an academy, where people can learn about hair styling and dressing. Jawed is a known name and has a list of celebs as clients.
My main task is to set up more salons in various parts of the city. Later, besides hairstyling, Habib's will also include beauty care treatments. This is something I will work towards," adds Aashka.
