"She (Gopi) gets very clued up these days! In the old days she prob thought a ghost had done it, or a rat let loose in the house! But now she's sharpened on that Rashi is purposely dismantling the "so-called peace" in the house and as dil and wife it's a part of her honour and duty to uphold the peace at all costs, even to the detriment of herself.
She is wise to Rashi now - she seemed to hold a look of disapproval and disappointment when she saw Rashi selfishly freshening herself up without getting water for her friend. She also clearly sees that Rashi hadn't prepared any food and understood that she lied.
A very poignant episode, revealing a highly astute Gopi, one that is no longer so innocent or so gullible".
My question is - WHERE HAS THIS GOPI GONE? Perhaps Gopi is too stressed to notice Rashi's antics, but there is still no sense of astuteness, of sharpness, of the fleeing of the inncocence and the gullibilty in this Gopi. I am not commenting on the acting skills of Dev, I'm just saying that Gopi's personality, her development, her progress is not being portrayed at all.
What happened to that astuteness in Gopi? Why haven't the CV's considered this for the new actress or written it in as part of her delivery? Looking at the present Gopi, you can hardly associate her with being "wise to Rashi's antics". She talks likes she's afraid of her.
But at least there are some things that do not change - Gopi continues to "uphold the peace at all costs, even to the detriment of herself". The CVs gave us that at least. But I would have liked to have seen more of the passive fighter that Gopi was becoming, rather than the day in day out weeping and perpetually sad Gopi .
What do you guys think?
