wish they get a good break soon in BW😊

It would have been better if we had representation from Bangal as well in top 10. They need to work on their Hindi language. I think both Shreya and Alka did their schooling outside bangal.
Edit:
Some members believe that such threads are open to bash a particular community therefore I've edited this post

Monali Thakur / Antara Mitra (both r frm II2) n quite successful in playback singing...if u r aware of recent hits...after Lata/Asha,Kabita/Alka,Sunidhi/Shreya female playback singing is not dominated by one or two singers...MD r trying hard to give something new every time by experimenting with female playback voices...bt Monali (Zara zara touch me,Khwab dekhe), Antara (Yeh ishq hai, bheegi si) have done quite well in recent times...nxt watch out for Arijit Singh (Fame Gurukul )...just listen his song from Players,Agent Vinod n from cocktail (with Sunidhi)...
prononciation is different n feelings is different ...pronounciation may be rectified bt for give right feelings in the song u have to little much intelligent (i think!!!)...Monali,Antara,Arijit r frm West Bengal ... they didn't win any Reality show...Sandeep Acharya & Qazi taqkeer are nowhere right now...i think (!!!!) they pronounce hindi better than Monali,Antara & Arijit...i hope u understand...if don't pls don't give pain your brain...

jealous of what my friend?? I just posted my opinion based on contestants participated in last few shows, e.g. Niladhri at little champs. His singing was great but all judges and anchor used to make fun of his Hindi.
I have always praised bangali community for encouraging their daughters to learn classical music. I heard that in bangal music is as important as studies and other household skills and duties.
Who can forget contribution of SD Burman & his son RD Burman, Salil Chaudhri, Bhappi Lahiri, Bassu da, Satyajit Ray, Shyam Banegal and Manna Day to Film industry.
Furthermore I don't really care if there are 5 contestants from Bangal or Punjab, it really doesn't make any difference. I follow this show because I love music and it's least importnat who wins the show because it doesn't give you ticket to playback singing.

Jasji, I have followed your posts and do understand your feelings and where your comments are coming from. However, there are a very few other members on India Forums who start seemingly harmless discussions opening up grounds for bashing Bengalis. And the same people have been doing it historically in other reality shows as well. You will never see such special topics opened for Punjabis, Gujaratis, Marathis etc. So adverse reactions in this matter is expected. In fact, I was happy that there are no contestants from Bengal in II this year hoping that we would be spared from this bashing on the forum. But no, such topics have to be opened under some pretext or other. I can only attribute this behaviour to jealousy caused by the fact that maybe historically one of their favorites lost out to a Bengali contestant in some past show, or some Bengali contestant may have had more support than their favorites. Anyways, I prefer to ignore such people.

I have no such hard feelings about you or your posts. So I would like to reply to you. Alka Yagnik is actually a Gujarati who grew up in Kolkata. So she speaks fluent Bengali. Same goes for Usha Uthup and Kavita Krishnamurthy. They grew up in West Bengal, but are not Bengalis. But they speak fluent Bengali.

Some of the Bengali playback singers who have made a name in Bollywood are:

Geeta Dutt, Pankaj Mullick, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Hemant Kumar, Amit Kumar, Kumar Sanu, Babul Supriyo, Shaan, Abhijeet, Anup Ghosal - the singer of 'Tujhse naraaz nahi' from 'Masoom', Aarati Mukherjee - the singer of 'Do Naina ek Kahani' from 'Masoom', Chitra Singh (Jagjit Singh's wife)

Adding to the list of pakhim above, another singer of recent times is Soham Chakravarty who sang In Dino from Life in a Metro.

These days there are so many singers. Most of them sing 2 or three songs and disappear. Except for a few like Sonu, Shreya, Sunidhi, KK, Shaan and some sufi singers from Pakistan, nobody has really made a name in Bollywood. Most of the good singers are singing down South in the South film industry or in the Bengal film industry, and our reality show singers are getting plenty of opportunities to sing there.
