Good question TM.. Why are people getting so emotional about TV shows?
Why do people get emotional about anything for that matter? The answer lies in your question.
People form an emotional connection for a number of reasons, some being - they have been with the show since Day 1. They have watched Gopi, fumble, laugh, cry, dream, beaten.. they have been with her every step of the way. There are people who relate to the story. It could remind them of parts very similar to their story. There are people who relate to the characters due to their own personal experiences. There are some who like relationships shown on the show, the relationship between Kokila-Gopi, the relationship between Rashi-Urmila, Rashi -Gopi, Gopi-Ahem, Kokila-Hetal et al the list is endless. They form a relationship, an unseen bond ties them. There could be many reasons depending on the audiences, viewers perspective. There are people who have invested their time, their energy and even money for subscribing to the channel to watch the show.
To see an actor who is not Giaa to them but Gopi, whose life they have been following abruptly change is hard to take. People form a connection with expressions, emotions etc.
I am cat on the wall, I have watched Gopi. I have seen Dev. I am making no comparisons but I feel for my friends who were attached to the show. They feel cheated cause they waited for about 2+ years to see GoHem and their relationship develop and flourish.
At this time, the relevant question is not why. It is to acknowledge the fact that they are and think about ways to support them and involve them instead of sidelining them, judging them and questioning them about the same things in a million other ways.
To me you seem relatively new, you may or may not be watching the series. For you its an unattached experience but it isnt so for everyone. I am sure there are people in your social circle who watch ask them how they feel ? Maybe then you will understand. Otherwise, it will all seem like big rant..

If they want to leave it. its their life, their work, their decisions. Why are people so made after GIA MANEK coming back to show. I just do not understand. Are people taking seriously their work, studies, their responsibilities to theirn parents, and as a citizen.

Serial is just a fiction. Its not a reality. WHY PEOPLE JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND. I too fell pity on the actor that lost the serial. But that her destiny.
Are we really concerned for people fired from the Job in day to day life, during the recession time...NO.. Then why for her.
I mean actors come and go... This is just their work. I mean its TOO MUCH..
I am sorry if anybody is hurt from my comment. I do not mean to hurt anybody. But people please live in real world.

Njani, i think you give a fair point and I was not offended. I was very emtional when Gia left and for 2 days refused to watch Saathiya - saying it's not the same anymore. But after a while ( a very short whiile) i came back. What won me over...well I'm sorry to say... it was Ahem's huge biceps when he protectively hugged Gopi to show how happy he was. I was sucked in! And wanted Ahem to go round wearing a vest for days!!!

Bad thoughts aside...I was drawn once more to the story. I agree that the current actress playing Gopi, is almost like an entirely different character/personality. But i'm not gonna knock her - i liked her performance today, and she managed to render what the character of Gopi was all about. We got to see a little more of the outspoken Gopi, as opposed to the quiet mouse who has been portrayed since the replacement. And it was all good. Let's see more of that.

So Im continuing to give the story of Saathiya s chance. I accept that Gia Manek will not return to the screen playing the character of Gopi. I've read a couple of the articles, and it appears she seems a lot happier with the choice and her current venture. She must have been under a considerable amount of depression and stress. And she sincerely loves to dance and be playful. So good luck to her. And good luck to the new Dev. I'll still watch the story...and keep hoping Ahem walks around in a vest, showing off his huge muscles!!!

See, Mega, i have never called her with any names. Since, she is a new replacement, i might called her as Newbiee[Dev]. I don't think, that word is a bad one. I don't think the term "newbie" is bad either. Even IF uses it for brand new members.
And talking about the demise of SNS, did you recently notice the TRP? the trp went down from 3.9 to 2.9 in 3 weeks. Don't you think, this is a drastic change? If it [TRP] goes up,ok, no problem, What if , it goes down, whether will you call it, the demise of SNS, or rise of SNS?. I know TRPs have gone down (the number I saw for last week was 3.0, and it was from Tellybuzz. But sure, 2.9 and 3.0 aren't that different. But there's a difference blaming the numbers on Devoleena or a specific actor and blaming them on the network or the PH. If another actress was brought in, then fingers would be pointed at her as well.
Some times, we should accept, the truth. Truth always stands. Even, in the worst track, also, SNS didn't loose, it's TRP. You guys are not asking us, to accept the new gopi [Dev].???? Well, i don't think so. You guys, did lot of canvassing for her. Pls. accept it.
Satyamev Jayate indeed. TRPs will suffer when a show goes through a major change. No one denied that as far as I'm aware. Also as far as I'm aware, no one said that "Everyone needs to accept Devoleena". Some have said that it would be nice if more people accepted her, and I always said that "I hope more people accept her". I'm fully aware that some people will accept her with time, and some never will and there's nothing wrong with that. And for the ones who do accept her and/or like her, we are just showing our support for her during this tough time. Just like how some people feel bad for Gia and are showing support for her on the forum, some are showing support for Devoleena just by saying nice things about her. It's not "canvassing" or "marketting", it's just average members saying nice things about an actress.

When you say mega, you're referring to me right? Just clarifying because the first "a" comes up in my username after the "u" "s" and "t". "Me gusta" is Spanish but I digress...😛

My own Responses in red 😊

Overall, thanks for your respectful response and I hope we can get back to the original topic at hand that discusses the emotional attachment of fans instead of diverting it to "Gia fans vs Devo fans".

Good analogy 👍🏼

Both are sources of entertainment. If you don't like one, just pick another. There are lots of choices out there.

Guys my comment was general. And it is not at all related to Devoleena. But I would still say if you are truly Gia's fan, then we should be happy in what she is happy. And I believe she is happy doing Jalak Dikhlaja. And also in one of the article she also mentioned that she doesn't want to come back on SNS. So if we truly love her, we should be happy with what she does.

I am not, please note "NOT" asking you to accept Devoleena but just asking you to move on because it is not wise to hurt ourself when we know that Gia is not coming back.

That was my point. I am not trying to hurt anybody here.

Completly agree! Gia isn't coming back but we can still enjoy the show for what it is - the stories still intrigue us - Rashi will still annoy us - Urmila will always irritate us. We lie in hope that Kokila will stop shouting at everyone!!

We all have to learn our own lessons and come to accept the change in our own time.

There is no time limit to getting over something for some this is just a show and she is just an actress, but for some it's little more, so lets let people decide on their own how and what they want to do.

I am not saying you are doing this to hurt anyone but in the past four weeks there has been lot of talk of Gia has moved on wish her luck and that has ended in arguments and bashing which makes the forum hard to enjoy so all the people who are neutral in this wants is for everyone to respect each others opinions and try not to make sarcastic comments or tell them to move on.

Live and let live. My POV.

I liked your posts overall, but I wanted to point something about the bold.

I don't know how often you visit the SNS forum. Due to the recent fighting and bashing from various parties, one of the mods made a post saying that no one should tell others to move on because it escalated the tension and the member bashing.

I don't want you to get bashed or get in trouble if you didn't know about that. 😊

If people wish to see the show restored to when they enjoyed watching it, then their efforts towards it need to be appreciated, not hindered.

It is personal choice whether they wish to move on or not.
I am closing this because it has hurt the feelings of a few members
